I can already see it. BigThor buying out the theater every night for a week. There will be no one ruining BigThor's TDW experience.

I love school time. Early Friday showings are dead zones. Barely anyone there. I have a feeling though that come November 8th there are going to be a lot of kids and grown folk calling in sick.

People expecting a billion dollar box office based on this should prepare to be disappointed. Similarly arguments like "Iron Man 3 made a billion so Thor should too" are highly unconvincing. I don't expect Thor to make more than even Man of Steel, particularly with all the behind the scenes production problems and re-shoots.
During the shooting of Jaws ,Stephen Spielberg coudnt get the shark to work.
It was thought to be a GUARANTEED failure at the box office.
Look what happened .

We will get a good sense of its potential when the early overseas box office numbers roll in....
I sill think it will out perform MOS opening numbers due to its Epic scale, release date with no competition as well as Taylors GOT followers who will flock to see his work in TTDW...

Yeah an opening weekend of around 135-150 million is what I'm expecting.

Not sure if anyone cares or not, but Boxoffice.com is predicting a $91 Million opening weekend and a $235 Million total in N.A.

I guess it`s s range and 30-40 mil on the top. They over predicted MoS for 30+ and under predicted IM3 for 40.

I still say it's gonna land somewhere around 135-150 million, especially since Disney is ramping up the promotion big time. Thor is about to have an Asgard attraction open up at Disney complete with meet and greet Hemsworth look-alike.

Not to mention Disney airing Thor's full trailer and never seen before footage next week on like 5 different networks. I'm also sure they're going to do some heavy promo when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres.

Too big opening for a late autumn season. It`s not a Harry Potter, Twilight or Hunger Games franchise - only those were able open this high during November. Good comparison is last year Skyfall. It`s opened on the same date, while belonging to a strong franchise that is not YA material.
It made $88 mill OW and $304 total. And it held well in face of Twilight BD part 2.

I just don't see this film doing under 100 million in it's opening weekend, but we shall see.

I know, it`s just that it`s sequel in this November more than likely do as much (probably more due to it`s current popularity) as Twilight/Potter in the same time.

Yep. Right now I am going with 150-175 ow. But there is people who really think it could potentially do 200+, do not think it`s possible thought...

Yeah, i this is going to mirror Skyfalls run a little bit. It will have a slightly bigger opening but worse legs because of Catching Fire. I see 95 mill OW and about 250 domestic. Overseas is where this thing could really blow up. It could make 500 mill OS especially if its released in China. IM3 made over 120 mill alone there.

Two months before release is too early for accurate tracking, TA tracked around 125 million just ONE month before release. We all know how that turned out, it actually did 207 million which is 80 million more than what it tracked.

I think an opening weekend between 90-100M is already awesome.

Yeah but like I said, The Avengers tracked at 125M a month before release only to over 80M more than predicted. Man of Steel tracked at around 75-85M well before it's release and it almost doubled that number.

All I'm saying is it's way too early to count out a 130M + opening going by those fairly recent examples.
