Marvel Studios say want to make a heroine-lead film. But they're giving the same excuses as DCE.
http://www.superherohype.com/news/ar...superhero-film The only good thing is Capt. Marvel got a mention.

I honestly don't care if a female hero gets a movie or not. All the social warriors "clamoring" for one just to have it are a bit annoying actually.

Why is it being a social warrior to want a female superheroine-led film.

I love the MCU dearly, but it is a sausage fest.

So, D'Esposito's argument is that they're too busy to make a female led movie. Hey, Louis, you guys were the ones who scheduled five years worth of movies, ten films, and ALL of them had male leads. Did it ever occur to you to, I don't know, schedule ONE female led movie in the next five years, considering that you admit that people want one. As it stands right now, we have exactly ONE female superhero in the MCU, it will be two when Scarlet Witch appears, that's nowhere near good enough.

I never said everyone who wants it is a social warrior. But the ones who want it because they're social warriors and use that as their reasoning for it are annoying.

Whedon had to fight and lobby to get Black Widow in Avengers, man. Movie companies just don't like female heroes, unless a director basically makes them have one, it's crazy. Quote:

In this case listening/reading people preach about how it's important for women's rights and equality that a female superhero movie get made is particularly annoying.

1. A-List
Charlize Theron. No competition. Sure, her prior "superhero" roles haven't been great, including Mrs Hancock and Aeon Flux, but with a decent script I think she would be a formidable Captain Marvel. 2. B-List Yvonne Strahovski. Some name recognition thanks to Chuck and Dexter, but still fairly cheap. Obviously someone at Marvel watched Chuck since they've cast Chuck in the Thor sequel. 3. C-List Jessica Marais. Tabrett Bethell. Ellen Hollman. Little name recognition and should be cheap and willing to sign multi-movie deals. 4. Outside Choice Tatiana Maslany. Possibly the best actor on the small screen at the moment. |

Possibly, but it will most likely be in 2019 or 2020. We'll probably see Carol introduced before then though, she, and Mar-Vell may tie into the story quite a bit earlier than Phase 4.

If they made a Ms. Marvel movie it would honestly be a waste. They should make a Marvel family movie if anything. Just Ms. Marvel is pointless, it would be cheaper to just put her in an Avengers film.

Yeah, in one of the X-Men threads we were discussing having a female main villain. While no main one there has been 8 different secondary female villains. The MCU has had only 2 and both of those were in one movie.
Capable woman/Hero-wise they are doing okay. Agent Carter, Pepper Potts, Sif, Black Widow and the SHIELD woman

While I strongly dislike that there hasn't been a MCU female-led superhero movie yet, I do feel Marvel is at least on the right track with their films toward getting one made. They can introduce someone like Carol Danvers, or *sigh* Monica Rambeau or Bobbi Morse, etc. in A2 or another MCU film and then use that as a bridge to their feature film.
I'm starting to wonder, now that there's some louder rumblings here and there, whether we are closer to a Captain Marvel movie than we thought before. Perhaps they'll try to sneak her in Phase 3. It's a huge complaint I have for Marvel Studios that they're lacking in characters of color as leads as well as females. They've got to up the diversity. And the more complaints fans levy at "social warriors" clamoring for a female-led comic book movie, the more uppity I get about wanting one ![]()

Diversity needs tooking to aswell you're right. Of the main Avengers line-up all are essentially white american, with the exception of Thor being Asguardian

Another issue for MCU to deal with is that their best-known female characters are really tied up at Fox. They could've done a crazy badass all-female X-Men movie, or focused on Storm or Rogue or Jean Grey or Emma Frost or even Scarlet Witch and her mutant background. They could've also done something greater and more impactful with Sue Storm. But they can't, unfortunately.
It still doesn't excuse the lack of female representation in MCU's hero lineup, but I could see how it delays production on a big franchise focused on one of their female characters, simply because so few of Marvel's female hero lineup isn't nearly as recognizable to the public as the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Still though, if they announced a Captain Marvel movie, it would raise awareness for their main female Avenger in the public.
