Whoever they cast needs to be a girlie girl.

Why? She needs to be fun and spunky. There is no requirement that she be a "girlie girl." In fact, I'd prefer that she wasn't.

Um. Do you know what a girlie girl means? Being fun and spunkyare part of that but also really feminine into the latest fashion and always being made up. She's always been that way.

Yes she should be a girlie girl. Not every female character has to be butch. There's nothing shallow or wrong with liking fashion or hairstyles or being pretty. In fact, believe it or not, there are those of us in the male gender that still enjoy femininity.

but that's not femininity, that's just shallowness.

nevertheless, I agree that those are typical Jan attributes and we have yet to see women like her in the MCU

Because someone likes fashion they are shallow? How is that shallow? Because someone likes something that you don't? If a guy is a fashion designer or a hair stylist is he shallow?

Some of Janet's early portrayals in the comics could be considered to be somewhat shallow, which should not be the case in the movie.

What's wrong with being a spunky girly-girl, or however you want to describe it? It *is* Jan's persona in almost every incarnation except Ultimates, and Ultimate Jan is boring as hell and redundant as yet another Brilliant Scientist or Top SHIELD Agent (because we don't have enough of *those* already). Introducing a Manic Pixie Dream Girl (*koff* Zooey *koff koff*) into the mix would provide some variety and lightness.

I have no problem with Janet being spunky, or interested in fashion. All I said is that I don't want her to be as flighty and shallow was she was in her earliest appearances, it's not that big a request.

I would prefer Janet be presented as a sort of Paris Hilton/Miley Cyrus type that is actually embraced by the public because she is the polar opposite of that type of celebrity. Even before she got her powers I would have it that Janet Van Dyne is a well known fashion designer and philanthropic force to be reckoned with. She would have an infectious upbeat attitude about helping the world and despite the effervescient outside, she's a sharp cookie to boot. Of course since her very existence in the MCU is dependent on what ever is up with Hank/The Ant-Man movie I guess I have to wait a little while longer to see what is exactly going to be done with such a potentially fun character on the big screen.

I like that idea, almost a female Tony Stark in terms of public recognition, and a very different type of heroine to the intelligent, grounded, sensible type we got with Pepper / Jane / Betty or the cold workmanline Natasha. While it's important to have strong positive female characters, its also important that those chracters are diverse with their own strengths and failings. Pepper, Jane and Betty all seem to be from the same mould, so to break that is important.

ETA: I left out Peggy, as her character seems to be developing well, I hope they find a way of giving her more screen time.

I don't mind Janet being embraced by the media and all but not a Paris Hilton type etc. which to me is the very definition of shallow. I'm with Loki - keep her true to her character traits but show that she still has substance. Earlier incarnations were definitely lacking but I think it was just due to lack of character development - not the things she liked.

A character like that can really reach people in different ways. I love how in EMH Hulk's all standing around with a sourpuss and she makes that funny face at him which softens the Hulk. She's silly and funny and has a huge heart. Stuff like that that shows she's special in her own way and is a force for good.

Jan has the potential to be one of the most fun Avengers who can connect with the audiences. It would be a mistake to leave her out. If people like RDJ with all his comments, that's what it would be like to have Jan. Plus she's also a wealthy heiress as well, so there's even more similarity.

I think the word you're looking for is "socialite". And I get what you're trying to say, but NEVER EVER link Jan to those trashy bimbos!

Seriously. I really wanna see her as well.

Thing is, Weadon has went on record saying he likes Janet, so eventually if nothing else, I'm sure he would have her pop up probably in Avengers 3, but she really needs to be if Ant-Man.

If Edgar was casting a Janet from some his worked before my money would be on Brie Larson from Scott Pilgrim, 21 Jump Street and Don Jon.

So, latest word is Rashida Jones is Marvel's top pick.

I can see this as Janet especially with the hairstyle.

I also like that they're making her multi-ethnic.

Rashida Jones would be an excellent Wasp.

I think Rashida could be more toned for the role. It's not that she's fat or anything, but since Janet is actually more petite, it would help if she looked more firm and athletic. Also I think she would look younger as I do think she has the look of someone in her mid 30s instead of late 20s to early 30s. If Chris Pratt could do it, then there should be no problem for Rashida since there isn't too much to do in her case.

1. I think they're going for a mid-late 30s Janet especially if Pym is mid-40s.

2. I don't think she can get any more petite than she already is lol.
