I wanted to see NEW villains...but then we got Khan. So if JJ et al just want to poach from the TOS Rogues' Gallery, this time around I'm going to lobby for Captain Crazypants, Garth of Izar.

I have two ideas. The first is that given what happened in STID, we could get a full on Federation/Klingon War. The second idea, and something that I'd REALLY like to see, is the Borg being the villains.

What about a Alliance between the Klingon Empire & The Gorn Hegemony?
And I think we need a Big Screen debut of the Tholian Assembly.

It would definitely be cool to see the Gorn return and be put onto the big screen.

As long as the Gorn isn't completely CGI like in that episode of Enterprise where he looked completely fake and weightless.

Oh I hated that in Enterprise. The effects in the JJ Abrams Star Trek films have proven to be fantastic, so I don't think we would have to worry about this.

I very much doubt that Enterprise used motion capture for that episode. I imagine that's how the Gorn would be done now if they don't decide to go the way of a rubber suit. Pure CGI would not look good and seems old fashioned for big movies now anyway.

I don't think Enterprise had the time or budget to use motion capture CGI, giving them that cheap, weightless look.

We need a Saving Private Ryan type of battle with the Klingons.

How widely spread is Nero-tech, though? Khan helped them build the Vengeance, a totally secret project. I suppose they could extrapolate some tech from the wreckage, but I doubt the entirety of Starfleet is armed to the teeth with TNG-level tech in Star Trek 3.

I still think the Klingons will be the big baddies. Also, since they like re-spinning parts of the old movies, who wants to bet we get a full-blown Carol Marcus-Kirk relationship culminating with the Klingons killing Carol?

I also think the Klingons make a good choice because they will be a different threat. In Star Trek (09) we had a rogue villain. In Into Darkness we had two rogue villains. The Klingons could present an official, organized villain with the blessing of the Klingon Empire, which could expand the story.

I'd also like for them to factor into the exploration-side. Perhaps the Klingons are meddling with a Starfleet mission on a previously unknown-to-Starfleet planet? Thus, an intergalactic struggle between Starfleet and the Klingons culminating on (or over) the unknown frontier over the fate of some special civilization, which could keep the challenge intimate.

I think that something will happen that will force peace between the Klingons and Federation. I would like for them to have a sort of regular adventure where the Enterprise is forced to work with Klingons and Romulans to defeat a new enemy (called not-the-Borg).

I think that full-on war with the Klingon Empire will certainly be the backdrop for the film, but I don't think it will be the extent of the plot. I think thorstone is right, something else will be present. A mutual threat (that serves as the main plot catalyst), which ultimately brings about peace and ends the war.

It should be Klingons but maybe a bigger threat that unites them at the end? I guess we'll never see the Dominion again

If they pursued the war route, it would be a bit early to have them unite, considering the tension that has been fleshed over ST 09 and STID. Then again, it depends on what the threat in question would be.

I'd have the Klingon's and the enterprise unite against the Borg. They would be a huge enough threat that neither of them could handle alone. It could make for an amazing story if done right. Heck, I'd get a big name to play the borg Queen...Angelina Jolie. She would certainly be a charismatic villain and could draw in an audience beyond the Trek fans. Throw in some one to play Kirk's charismatic Klingon Rival slash, guy he has to end up uniting with , I dunno , maybe Javier Bardem, and you've got an epic third installment of a trilogy.

There should be Klingons and an all new alien race. I want to see several different kinds of new space ship designs, especially for Starfleet.

NO BORG. The Borg are a TNG villain, so I think they should stay there.

In STAR TREK 3 I want something we've never seen before, strange new worlds please.

They brought back Khan. Might as well bring back Kruge too.

No Kruge. I think at most bring Khan back again and wake up his "army" as well. The underlying story should be a Klingon War IMO.

It can be a completely new story even if Khan is involved. I feel like it would be a waste not to have him return at least to some extent. Seriously imagine what the Federation would have to go through if it was at war with the Klingons and Khan's army.

There are many film series that have the same villains returning for multiple films (e.g. X-Men, Star Wars), so I don't see any reason for Khan not to return at least once more.

That would be pretty neat. Everything that happened in Enterprise still happened in the JJ Abrams timeline obviously, so it would be a nice nod to that series.

They already hinted at Archer in ST 09 when Scotty mentions losing "Admiral Archer's prized beagle" in a transporter accident.
