And look how they learned to do it after that mistake.

Did they learn from their mistakes or did they simply give the costume chores to someone else? Besides, they have made a kick ass Superman costume that experience may not translate to a Batman costume.

So let's not even try and stick to the same old thing we had for the last 24 years.

First the Dead End suit and now this. Dude, ALL the examples you bring up are examples of stretch spandex. It's not rocket science. Cheap stretch spandex =/= durable fabric material.

"Did they learn from their mistakes or did they just hire someone else?"

Both. They hired someone else that learned from the previous' team mistakes.

I'll be stunned if they go for the fabric look for Batman. I just don't see it.
Whatever they do I hope it looks good and I don't have an ego that I wouldn't admit a fabric suit looks good if it looked good.

Oh I doubt they go with a cloth/fabric/spandex at all. I was only referring to the comment that no fabric has ever looked good and I thought the Dead End use of it straight from comics looked pretty sweet on the guy they had.

Though honestly what I liked about Dead End was really the cape, the thin leather like look gave it enough flow, particularly on the scene standing up where it kind of looks like he's just melting out of the ground as the cape slides along the floor up to him. That and the cowl.

The damn cowl has been the biggest problem because the actors always wind up in molded rubber or some other material that limits their head movements.

I'm not crazy about the rubber look to the MoS costume (the texturing, not the material, gives a rubber look to me) which was also used in Raimi and Webb's Spider-Man suits to an extent.

I'm hoping for something inspired more by the Arkham games' design. Something that has a bit of a light, flexible appearance but texture to give an impression of kevlar armor or the like. Just not the armor plating look so much.

But I'm not wildly dedicated to anything in particular. So long as it looks good, I'll accept various interpretations of the suit.

Though, c'mon, this cloth suit is still awesome!

I'd probably take the MOS suit and add like an extra layer, to give it a certain thickness. Then with the right texture and detailing, achieve a look that says the suit is protective, without the obvious kevlar plating.

This pic Coco posted is like the perfect look.

Perfect because it's almost in total darkness?

I'm not a fan of the idea of even a pre-Origins Arkham style suit for movies as well. It's good for the games, but it has some elements that I don't like.

You know, I can never watch TDKR again, without shouting "Bull****!" when Batman gets stabbed. Knowing the materials that exist nowadays, that shouldn't have happened. We have freaking stab proof materials, but that flimsy suit is too weak against bullets and knifes, because of its segmented plating not being able to protect his entire body.

That's one of the things Nolan got horribly wrong. Even with the lightning and all, the cowl looks incredibly bad in the movies.

At least they pointed it out, I guess.

I'm sure Batman's had a few adventures in the sewers of Gotham.

The suit will look something Jim Lee or Alex Rossish.

That's what Snyder wanted the Man of Steel suit to look like.

Isn't there a manip floating around these boards of him looking for Killer Croc?

Here's my take on a new batsuit:

FULL SIZE HERE: http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/7999/7m2e.jpg

I tried to give the Arkham Origins suit I used as a base a more "fabric feel" while still looking protective and durable. I also like the idea of a grey batsuit to distance the new series from the Nolan trilogy. I kept the cape from Batman Begins though because I think it looked great (and I just hate the leather/rubber combo you seem to see everything else these days). I decided to add lenses to the cowl very late in the process, you can think of it as a removable device (because I don't like the idea of fixed lenses).

Perfect job. Looks flexible, but tough. Cloth-based, but not cheap looking. The colors are also faithful to the comics.

I just couldn't resist lengthening the ears and adding facial hair

This is a nice concept art showing the "Fabric looking armor" that seems to be the favorite approach.

Also, does anyone want to see a fire-proof, acid-proof, tough, resistant cape? I remember in some media Batman would cover his face with the cape in an explosion/any other hazardous threat. But this was abandoned in The Dark Knight trilogy, never did he use the cape other than for gliding (didn't even glide once in TDKR), and the cape caught fire when Scarecrow lit him up. Would anyone else like to see a return of the cape protection?

I think it would actually give the case some more use, and help explain to people who say having a cape is pointless and cumbersome.
