The more I think about it, Michael C Hall would be a great choice. He's a very talented actor with some star power who needs to step away from dark roles to avoid being typecast. And, he's a good age for the role. I hate that they're going a more "Ultimate" route and looking to cast kids in this movie.

After a week of interesting casting choices, I wonder if fox would be willing to consider Ken'ichi Matsuyama (death note, Norwegian wood) as reed Richards?

Any fantastic four movie that casts kids as the world's greatest comic team is destined for oblivion. I really like the Michael C Hall idea.

i love Michael C Hall, but i just can not see him as Mr. Fantastic

Andrew Lincoln on the other hand i can definitely see pulling off the role

hopefully Reed will be portrayed as a strategic thinker, and not simply a 'wimp' in battle. Also, depending on whether the casting goes for the "traditional" style team or the teen/college-aged "Ultimate" team, that will have a lot of implications for Reed's portrayal.

How about an actor of the same caliber as Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the role?

Ok this was completely random and I'm about 99% sure its not true

But just saw this random tweet just happen less then an hr ago:
Quote:
Yay! Anton Yelchin! #misterFantastic #FantasticFour #Reboot #2015
https://twitter.com/iKRVD/status/383076746066550784

So I tried googleing this story and NOTHING comes up beside Anton Yelchin Wikipedia page has put him as Mr.Fantastic as well?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_Yelchin

Obviously, I want more info before I'd run the story but just interesting?

As they want to go young, Ultimates version, another candidate could be Ben Lloyd-Hughes, who will be with Miles Teller in Divergent

I'd prefer they cast older for Reed. I want him to be an established name within the scientific community. To me Reed, Sue, and Ben just work better as older characters and not 20 somethings.

We live in a post Zuckerberg-mindset about intelligence. If you did that picture of the Solvay Conference today, the group would be much more age diverse than the grey beards and receding hairlines.

Plus the younger person would stand out.

I'm not saying it can't work but it's not my preference. I'm not going to go into a geek rage about them casting younger.

can stretchy effects ever look good? i feel like they might be the hardest super power to pull off without it looking bad (except in cartoons)

Like any visual effect - it depends upon the design of the effect and the approach taken.

I think a major problem they have had [other than a small budget] is that they are trying to make them too "realistic" - trying to be too logical in the look. Sure if an object is stretched it will naturally get thinner and weaker looking, but they have to abandon this notion and go for what looks cool and powerful.

If they look to the dynamics of the Kirby Mr. Fantastic stretching they will do fine.

I love the Andrew Lincoln suggestion. Assuming he can do a less american american accent.

He'd be great. But they've been flirting with Teller so they want a young Reed.

so maybe the stretching can be done, but what about when he turns himself into a ball or a cube? or makes himself paper thin? should they just avoid that stuff?
