In the comics, Red Mist was a sadistic monster and an ******* from the very beginning (he's a Millar character, they're all *******s). In the first film, he was a nerdy kid torn between wanting to please his dad and be his own man, but he was a decent kid overall. He genuinely liked KA and never wanted him dead. It wasn't until KA blew his dad up with a bazooka that he really flipped. He's kind of a tragic character in that regard and I was legitimately sad when he went bad. In the sequel, he's kind of a psychotic doofus in many ways, which makes him both scary and funny. His progression is much more in depth and interesting in the movies, as opposed to being bad from minute one like in the comic.

I haven't watched the film yet but does it adapt the parts from the comics where The dad says he's kick-ass and the graveyard slaughter?

Well, Kick-Ass 2 was the only comic book movie to make it into Quentin Tarantino's top 10 of the year so far, strange considering the critical reception it got, but again this just shows it wasnt justified.

I couldn't care less about Tarantino's opinion about movies though. I liked the movie, but I don't need his approval, I already know why I liked it.

^Oh same here, just found it curious that he liked KA2 more than any other CBM this year when it got by far the worst critical reception.

Eh, critical reception has never mattered to me regardless. I like movies critics hate, and hate movies critics love. Sometimes I agree with them, which is cool, but it's always boiled down to my own personal enjoyment.

Cool to see him giving it props, however.

To be honest I mostly agree with, but every now and then I like a movie they dont or vice versa, they were more off this year than any other I recall though.

Well thats the main reason I posted it, not to justify my opinion or anything, but its cool seeing people like Tarantino liking the movie.

Not as great as the first but I did enjoy it. I was surprised how good Christopher Mintz-Plasse was in this, and Jim Carrey was excellent. I can see how how he might have had a change of heart for promoting. It is quite violent, even more than the first one I think. Mother Russia was also very great. I thought she would just be silent muscle, but she had some great lines and delivery.

I watched this again on BD as well, my 3rd viewing overall, and I just dont understand the hate it gets still. Its NOT as good as the 1st movie, that is clear, but it is a decent sequel with nice progression for the characters.

It is more violent than the 1st movie, but the stakes are raised in this world with the emergence of super-villains so its a natural progression for me. Moretz and Taylor-Johnson are great in this movie as well, and Mintz-Plasse makes for a surprisingly good villain.

Yeah, it's definitely better on a second watch. That being said, the story could've been focused on more, and I despise the sick stick.

^Yeah I didnt like that part either, think Mindy would have come up with a better way to get back at those girls. I do wish more story would have been included, havent seen the deleted scenes yet.

Watched the 1st movie today and its still an amazing movie, one of the best in the CBM genre for sure, but this sequel is good too, and not the disaster I was expecting. What do people think the chances of a Kick-Ass 3 happening are?

Probably slim and none, unless DTV/independently financed.

^I think it depends on the DVD/BD sales to be honest, like the 1st movie. The sequel did have a lower budget after all, but man if Jim Carrey had promoted this I think it would have done a bit better at least.

Speaking of which, anyone know how its doing in home sales? Any other big releases this week which would prevent it selling as much?

Just watched this movie for the first time last week and I enjoyed it. It definitely wasn't as good as the first but it was really enjoyable. I agree with an above poster, the sick stick, while funny, was a little much. I think we'll see a Kick-Ass 3 around 2016.

Wouldn't surprise me if it didn't do well with home sales, hell I forgot it was even on blu-ray until now.

BTW has anyone kept up with the Kick-Ass 3 comics at all, and if so how are they?

True, but even with a slight simmer of hope, I don't think it needs one. I mean, other than the BS todd pulled & the ending with the ''Iron Kick-Ass", everything was wrapped up. Just say Mindy took all that money and moved somewhere for a normal life, and Dave continued his as Kick-Ass.

Typical Millar fare, although definitely better than Kick-Ass 2. I'm enjoying it, but it's the same as it's always been lol.

Well Chris D'Amico is still alive, and his Uncle is there in prison as well he could be a threat. Millar always envisioned this as a trilogy so I would just like it to come to fruition.

And yeah, that **** with Todd needs to be addressed as well.

Chris may be alive, but he has zero limbs. Not too much of a threat, unless he becomes a cyborg, then **** all, might as well throw out the very tiny amount of realism the series has (though, KA2 pretty much did that.) His uncle, I think is supposed to be the baddie in KA3's comic, but in the movie there's one scene with him, and that's all. No other mention, other than the deleted scenes.

Also, alot of those deleted scenes should have been in the movie, and they definitely should have filmed the big daddy scene. Would've loved to see that.

I agree. It would have been great seeing Nic Cage as Big Daddy again, for if his cameo was only going to be about a minute long. At least they included a picture of him in the movie.

I have yet to actually watch th deleted scenes but most movies these days seem to cut out a lot of important and interesting scenes that actually improve the movie (I'm looking at you, Prometheus).
