I think this one is gonna take a backseat for a lot of people with The Walking Dead resuming tonight. I know that's the case for me.

What did the initials JTM on the hankerchief the agent handed Eli mean? I got the impression it was something Kessler had and may have tipped Eli off.

To each their own... but really?

In terms of quality storytelling and characters (who actually act like real people, instead of two dimensional plot-devices), Empire blows the increasingly overrated Walking Dead away. Not even close for me.

Yeah, same here. A few weeks ago it was a genuinelly difficult decision whether to watch Breaking Bad or Boardwalk Empire first. Walking Dead I will watch eventually, maybe even tomorrow but there is no urgency for me there.

The season opener was last night.

I chose to watch this instead. I am not sure what those initials were myself. I also wasn't sure what the point of showing Margret was. I don't think she is coming back. It seemed like a sort of "check in" moment for me.

Eli noticed that Knox's initials on his handkerchief were JMT, which obviously don't match the "Warren Knox" name that the agent has been going by.

It should be clear to Eli that things aren't on the level with Knox. He's not that thick-headed not to notice, I don't think.

Now the question becomes what does Eli do with that information. I wouldn't put it above Eli to try and betray his brother again.

Really hope they don't go through that whole fiasco again.

Gotcha. Well, at least he knows something is up. I hated to see him giving Knox access to so much information. He gave him the numbers to a bunch of other accounts Kessler had, right? Or did I hear that wrong.

I believe what the agent translated is actually what was in the letter. I remember in another site after last weeks episode someone who knew how to read german translated what eddie wrote in the letter from when we saw the shot of it and that pretty much matched up with what the agent translated in this episode. I actually assumed he would make something up but I guess not?

Ha, yeah! That was hilarious. Followed moments later by Mickey's "If I had to live here, I'd kill myself." A couple of great foot-in-mouth moments.

I thought the same thing at first, but thinking about it more it seems like the point was more to do with the effect of Eddie's death on Nucky rather than anything to do with Margret. Showing Nucky reach out like that, his helplessness and vulnerability, reaching to the bottom of the barrel for someone to take care of him. And of course Margret basically said go screw, so we're shown Nucky is truly alone for the first time.

Liked the rock'em, sock'em sex down south. Liked seeing Harrow back. Wonder where that's leading. If he gets drawn back into the life I'll bet dollars to donuts that Gillian is at the root of it all. Chalky wouldn't be a true gangster if he didn't eventually take a mistress. Check on that. Glad to see Lucky back. Need to keep developing those gangster muppet babies. I about when Eli gave Knox the letter to translate. I still think there's something in there that implicates him which he left out. And the hankerchief had the initials 'JIK' with the K being likely for Knox. I think the significance is the question of why would a "hayseed of the highest order" like he's supposed to be have a monogrammed hankerchief. It'll come up again. I don't think this was a one-off for Margaret. I get the sense that she'll be back soon. Maybe she's the victim of one of Nucky's enemies and that might leave him to care for the kids? I dunno.

Anyway, Capone vs. the cops next episode. Yay!

I dunno. I am still not a fan of folks beating on each other before getting down to it... even though I knew it was coming. Still seems... odd to me.

Just seemed like it had more to interest me than regular old vanilla sex, which we've seen a million times on this show.

She's obviously a tough dame and something clicked with them.

Better than moaning Margaret.

The handkerchief read 'JIM' which is the name Hoover called him by but he told Eli earlier in the season his name was 'Warren' Knox. Red flag.

I'll have to go back and look at it. Could have sworn it was JIK.

Interesting episode. Looks like Jim M. Tolliver is playing the 'Clyde Tolson' type role, with the secretive handkerchief and what not.

I can't wait for O'Banion to get whacked. He's neck and neck with Mickey Doyle as the most obnoxious character on the show.

Torrio should have listened to Capone.
