I absolutely adore IM3 so much, so it's not a problem for me. I was just seeing a couple of superhero movie fans who've already seen T:TDW and they didn't really dig all the humorous stuff Marvel's including in their Phase II movies. So that's where my thinking was coming from... if CA:TWS will have more humor in it than people are expecting and how that'll affect the reception of the movie for some fans.

Yeah, honestly. For me, the humorous stuff in the MCU movies gives it life. Like, I'm not for totally hilarious hijinks like the Fantastic Four movies, but a well-timed line or delivery can make a movie for me.

It's what made Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and The Avengers all work for me.

I'm just interested in how people are viewing what Marvel Studios are doing in their Phase II lineup. Going on some messageboards, there's some mixed reactions, especially to IM3. But then you take into account the domestic and international box office of the movie, and the video sales, and it clearly connected with the audience.

Marvel will put it on YouTube themselves a few minutes after. They always do.

In terms of the balanced humor the Marvel films that got it right so far for me are Avengers and Iron Man 1.

Avengers literally balanced everything so perfectly...such a special blockbuster for it's time. Iron Man 3 had a couple awkward moments with the humor after rewatching but the movie is still very good in my opinion.

Thor...Thor was just weird. I love the actual story but the humor was so damn dumb at points. I'll never forget how bewildered I was in the theater when Jane said, "Oh...my...god."

The Humor in the MCU is what makes me prefer it to things like TDK and MOS which bore me to death for an hour before the action starts. While i still enjoy the more serious movies to an extent, they are not as re-watchable for me.

Humor and levity is important for movies like this for sure. That doesn't meant it can't get too much though, be ineffective or be used in the wrong way.

With that said, in IM3 the big amount of humor worked perfectly for me. It was really effective humor that totally went in line with the movie as a whole and never felt out of place. It was also greatly balanced with some really good dramatic stuff, thrilling action and interesting subtext.

I think that was one of my favorite Jane moments. The way Portman said it and the look on her face got me LOL!

That's just how the Marvel universe has always been. It can never be too much of a downer, as there is no shortage of characters that are known for just cracking jokes to break levity.

Each to his own. In MOS for me, it was the action at the end who bored me. And while MOS failed in the levity/humor department, I find the TDKT had great humor, and just the right amount for the more serious tone the movies went for.

Personally I appreciate all kinds of movies and tones in them, and don't prefer one thing over another by default, it's all about making things work withing their own context and what the movie wants to be as a whole.

The humoristic part of Thor's journey on Earth in the first movie was the most important part at making the character likeable and relatable. He's the most difficult character to be introduced (a God living is Asgard!) and -while the movie is my least favorite of all MCU- there's a huge accomplishment in getting the character right and believable.

The site isn't broken. It's just not available for viewing yet.

Basically, it's video player with no file designated.
