I have no problem either.

In the comics she constantly changes from calling lightning from the sky and shooting it from her hands. Like JP I think it makes her look more powerful. It also deals with the problem of Storm taking too long to power up and attack. I mean if you rewatch X1 it's almost laughable how long it takes for storm to call lightning to zap Sabretooth and how he just stands there roaring into the air. Her generating from her person allows her to be more kinetic in battle and helps her to attack quicker.
