I actually thought about that, but a genius like Tony would have figured it out.
(Tony may give the impression he doesn't pay attention, but he is always aware of stuff)

I always assumed that was Marvels way of introducing SHIELD to the GA,
Just saving the name or the acronym at least, until the end of the movie.

I always figured it was just to avoid unnecessary questions and confusion from Pepper. "We're a new agency" is a lot quicker to take in than "we are a secret agency that dates back to WWII."

Since Zola is confirmed for TWS, and knowing he was being held by SHIELD for a long time , is it possible that they asked him to build an exoskeleton for Coulson?

It would explain why his muscle memory was rusty earlier in the show

And also the fact the " he must never know "

Zola is an enemy of Coulson's hero, Cap.

You mean endoskeleton, right? He's obviously not wearing an exoskeleton.

I was thinking something along these same lines this morning. What we know is Zola is being held by SHIELD after CA:TFA. We know Zola is confirmed for CA:TWS and we know his comic history of moving his consciousness into an android body.

If Zola completed his "transformation" while under SHIELD's control, it is possible that Fury used a similar method, as they would have the technology, to save Coulson, the person, and "install" him into a LMD.

Obviously, the effects of doing such a thing would be shocking to the individual it was done to and so the secret must be kept. Not to mention all the morality issues that come into play.

I think this explains the muscle memory dialogue, the one punch knockout in EP. 5, the quick reflexes dodging the van door in EP. 1. This also explains how Coulson can continue being the Coulson we know, with keeping all of his mannerisms and memories intact.

I'm sure there will be more to this but I think this is a good start on the framework of what happened to our beloved Agent Phil Coulson.

This week's episode is going to get into the emotional impact that dying had on Phil Coulson, which has me excited. The second clip from the episode makes it clear that poor Phil has seen wonderful, terrible things. That's just what this show needs, wonderful terror. Moving along the central mystery, the one most people care about, is a good thing and right about time.

Coulson role in Lego Marvel is pretty suit and he's got the Destroyer Armor Prototype Gun as his weapon.

Someone just asked Clark Gregg on Twitter if we would find out what happened to Phil when he was stabbed in Avengers:

Quote:
Clark Gregg ‏@clarkgregg
yes. soon. RT @lala_kb80: @clarkgregg will we ever find out what happened to Phil when he took one for the team in Avengers? ♥
So I'm guessing he means within the next few episodes or so (we may not necessarily need to wait until the end of the season)???

Well, unless Shield doctored the results from his blood work, and Simmons doesn't know what the hell she's doing when conducting a physical (unlikely), the LMD idea should be off the table.

And I think the 'rusty' reference (again) and a little heavy on the 'iron' in his blood is maybe just to throw the LMD or Original Human Torch fans a mis-leading bone?

So for the moment I'd say now that Phil is human. Question now is just how the hell they brought him back? The clone idea is still possible (lack of muscle memory, Simmons comment on his shape for his age, and his reply maybe being a clue for that) and they might have added the scar after he initially couldn't handle the truth to reinforce the illusion on him that he is the real man.

Maybe....Hopefully all will be revealed sooner rather than later.

Hmm. My instinct is to say it probably isn't the "couldn't handle the truth" angle, as far as the why. Coulson doesn't strike me as the kind to suffer a nervous breakdown from angst. This doesn't really narrow anything down, though, because just because Coulson is unlikely to go insane from angst doesn't mean the people making the call aren't doing so because they *think* he wouldn't be able to handle it.

Closer look at part of Coulson's collection:

At the end of The Hub we saw Coulson dial in to a SHIELD files office (?) to request his own "Death and recovery" file. The way the agent on the other end of the line said that it was a death and recovery file in such a matter of fact manner is curious. Did the writers mean to imply that SHIELD agents routinely recover from death?

At any rate, only Nick Fury can authorize release of the files, so I assume that the director may have to make another appearance on the show.

Well characters being ressurected in comics is pretty routine.
Sounds like its pretty common for SHIELD Agents, too.

I took it as....recover /retrieve/pick up/gather the body....not recover/get well/heal.

That makes a lot more sense, lol. I was starting to wonder how often SHIELD got into that situation.

Another line from Skye in this episode about Coulson's sticking-to-the-rules: "He's acting like a robot version of himself." Yes, Marvel, we get it. You're teasing us because you love us...

I thought of that, too. But all along Coulson has claimed that he went to Tahiti to recover from his woulds. He even mentioned his beautiful physical therapist a couple of times, as well as the beauty of the place. And on top of that, he died on the Helicarrier, so his body wouldn't have been recovered in Tahiti.

I'm assuming Shield has death reports, recovery reports, and injury reports. Since Coulson both died and recovered, he probably has both.

And it's not completely uncommon to have someone medically "die" and come back either. So overall I don't think the wording was that big of a thing.

I like how Coulson apparently started to notice that he keeps saying "It's a magical place." every time someone mentions Tahiti.

I feel he's starting to question that story.

Yep....that's part of the reason I think he is now questioning the story he has been given/remembers.
