The first half of last season was wonderful. The second half had it's moments, even if it was a bit slow, but the finale was just unforgivably poorly done.

It's because 80% of it was reshot and edited. There was originally a prison battle, but AMC cut it because they thought it made Team Prison unlikable.

My problem was less with the prison vs. Governor bit (though, yeah, that was the very definition of anti-climax) and more with the completely shoddy scenario they gave to get rid of Andrea. Thank God they at least did reshoots for her goodbye to Michonne/Rick/Daryl. That was the one saving grace.

If it were an iPhone he'd still be paying for it. Zombie apocalypse does not negate phone contracts.

Sorry if this had been posted elsewhere. I didn't think one interview deserved its own topic, but I applaud Danai Gurira for speaking the truth about the people calling the casting "racist":

Quote:
The cast has become a point of contention for some who take issue with the show’s racial politics. Lorraine Berry at Salon.com dubbed the show a “white patriarchy” earlier this year, citing T-Dog’s death and Oscar’s short-lived addition as proof that “the critical mass of black men that can be in Rick’s group is one.” Gurira finds the notion “hilarious.”
“If we literally lined this show up with other shows that are at this level of ratings, or near it, I mean come on,” she says. “This show is actually the most diverse show, I think, right now. I don’t quite know what people are talking about. I’m like, ‘Huh?!’

It's the same story as always. Find something "-ist" (racist, sexist, mysogonist, etc) and inflate the truth to get a reaction and more people reading your exaggerated outrage.

There are currently two black men, a black woman, an asian man (even less represented than blacks) and several background characters who aren't white. But let's focus on making it look racist because there's always outrage in that.

I'm not saying it's perfect by any means (there can always be improvements) but as Danai herself pointed out, it's the most diverse show at the top levels of ratings. If you're going to target something for lacking diversity, at least find a show that isn't the most diverse in its casting.

Excuse me if it's been discussed. I don't frequent TWD forums. But does anyone else think the writers are grooming Carl for an eventual solo outing? Whether he gets separated for an extended period of time or everyone else is killed.

And if anyone else has pondered that, would you hate it or love it?

I personally think it could be really cool a couple seasons down the road. I'm interested in how Chandler's acting skills continue to develop. And if he gets substantially better and more developed as a character I would love to see it.

In the comics
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
They have a part where it was just Rick and Carl surviving. Then Rick had a fever, so it was Carl that was looking out for him and killing walkers on his own.

So, stupid question. Is Judith Rick's or Shane's? For some reason I thought it was made ambiguous. But I don't remember, did they say one way or the other?

It was "decided" the baby was Rick's but obviously with no access to DNA testing it's not truly known whose baby it is.

Some of my friends got me into the Walking Dead but I've watched on and off since the first or second season, but was never into the comics. I read that the comics are set in Kentucky whereas the show is in Georgia. Why did they change the setting?

The comics start in Kentucky, but Rick heads to Atlanta after he woke up.

The weather in KY would have made an interesting backdrop for the show. The summers can be blistering, while the winters can drop several feet of snow on residents at a time.

Probably the best episode of the series since the pilot! Amazing! Pure suspense and drama.

Like we'll ever see a winter setting on this show.

They're too cheap to do that. Sad, really...

It's already stale as hell with only 'sweating' being their only issue with their surroundings.

Well they should be on the road... 4 seasons and we're still in the jail.

We'll be lucky to get to DC by season 10.

4 seasons and we're in their third (and longest lasting) location. Give it a rest.
