Surtur for primary villain.
Logically this would mean Malekith as secondary villain, but he had his own film. So, for secondary villains: Enchantress, Executioner, Ulik and/or Absorbing Man (one Midgardian villain wouldn't be too bad considering the fact that Thor now lives on earth). |

Surtur of course. He is the ultimate threat of the nine worlds and it would be one climatic movie.
Echantress could work as well. As for Gorr, the guy hasn't been around long enough to justify him being in a movie IMO. They would be better off going with a classic Thor villain. |

I'd say that for such an opening fight the Wrecking Crew would also work... so at the at start of the film, we see Thor on Midgard fighting four super-powered criminals who had found an Asgardian artifact that accidently looks similar to an earthly crowbar and that also accidently dropped through a wormhole during the event of the previous film (= the source of their superpowers). At the beginning of Thor 3, it is Thor's duty to find and regain such lost artifacts. So that could be the MCU's version of the Wrecking Crew (which, of course, Thor would defeat with ease). Or if the film's script would be in need of a secondary "big beast" apart from Surtur, Fafnir would be nice. The Midgard Serpent, however, would deserve to be the centre of its own movie. |

Surtur + Enchantress & The Executioner. Of course with Loki having some kind of role in it all too.

I doubt Loki is going to be the main villain of Thor 3, now I'm sure he'll be in.cohorts with the main bad guy though.

Given the events in Thor: TDW, the obvious answer is
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
With that in mind, there probably would be other antagonists. I would prefer Amora and the Executioner. They would make a good villainous pair and each of them could be a challenge for Thor in a different way (Amora with her spells and scheming, and the Executioner as a physical rival) and I could easily buy them as Loki's aides. |

After seeing TDW, here's what I'd like to see...
Loki is secretly ruling over Asgard as Odin, so he'll have some ultimate agenda of ruling over all the realms. However, he survived his death in TDW by striking a deal with Hela and now, he owes some debt or has done some wrong that ultimately leads to Ragnarok and Surtur. As much as I'd like to see Enchantress and Executioner, I really want to see Surtur--so that'll be my vote.

Enchantress with Executioner.
I'm pretty baffled that the MCU has yet to even feature a female villain. |

I say the Absorbing Man or Amora and the Executioner. I hope Balder the Brave is introduced in Thor 3

Here's one thing, though. I wonder if Marvel will capitalize into what would be some insane foreshadowing.
We all know that Thanos will have to end up in Asgard eventually to get the Tesseract. And remember in The Avengers when the Other told Loki that if he failed, there would be no place where Thanos would not find him? Just a thought.

Yep, I could see Thor 3 being the last film leading into Phase 3 with an ending like that.

I could see that. Thanos could also use Surtur as a distraction. Not that the two would actively work together, but Thanos is pretty smart, he'd find a way to use another threat to help him achieve his goal. Even with Loki on the inside, it would be very difficult for him to break into the Vault and make it past all the Asgardians, especially Thor, when the Gauntlet isn't powered yet.

Yeah I'd be on board with that as well, very plausible in my opinion.

No way they (Marvel Studios) are going to kill off Loki in sequels, he is their most popular villain (and the popularity of Hiddleston which draws in audience)
Besides, isn't Loki an immortal in Thor comics ?

Loki isn't an Asgardian. I don't think we are there in the movies yet.

Maybe they should film Thor 3 right after Avengers so that Chris Hemsworth can stay buff if he even gets buff in time.
It seems like Ron Howard is single-handedly trying to harm Hemsworth and Marvel. He made Chris shrink and drop a ton of weight for Rush now he's doing it again with that In the Heart of the Sea movie. Hemsworth looks like Tom Hanks at the end of Castaway. Whedon may have to CGI muscles back on Thor if they use him in January. |
