Evans look is very similar to how Cap looks wearing the Commander Rogers suit.

One thing to note, it's obvious the commander Rogers suit has padding around the shoulders , chest, and midsection to give Evans a fuller look. The bulkier look helps the helmet (when on) look better proportioned, IMO. One of the biggest faults of the TA costume was that it was just too slimming. That made the questionable cowl/helmet look a tad too big & silly.

Love the new suits. Can't wait to see them in the big screen.

Main problems I had with TA suit are the material made it look cheap and the suit design didn't give any bulk to CA's legs.

Eh, even drawn it doesn't look too great. He has the buffness that he was lacking in the Avengers. But overall, the design still doesn't look too great.

I still like the Avengers uniform and I hope it returns in Age of Ultron.

Could someone with far more photoshop skill than I manage to edit this pic of Cap in his new WS suit to extend the neck up under the helmet for more a cowl look, remove the silver stripes/flag and leave the star, color the dark blue vertical patches around the abdomen red, and lose the chinstrap?

If so, I think we'd be looking at a damn near-perfect traditional Captain America suit that would be amazing in AOU!

I think the Hot Toys figure perfectly captured how the suit "should've" look on-screen with a heavier looking fabric.

Cap's suit in TA would have looked tons better had they used a fabric that actually looked like it could have withstood a pounding, especially the pants. Another big miss was the lack of detail on the back (no star and incomplete midsection/back stripping), making it look like a set of pajamas when viewed from behind.

That was my biggest problem with The Avengers costume.

And it's weird because the Marvel Legends movie Cap figure had the back stripes and back star that was more like the comics. I wonder why that didn't work out.

The avengers suit was just too plain on the backside. And for no reason too, its not like putting a star on the back wouldve been hard.
Another problem is the "mouth hole" on the mask. And how it goes down his neck. Makes it look like the mask doesnt fit or something.
I did love the avengers suit in action though. Especially when he is giving out orders

I guess I'm in the minority, but I personally loved the suit in The Avengers and I'd say it's one of the best comic book movie suits I've seen yet. The helmet needed a little work, but aside from that, I thought it was perfect. The new suit just looks so boring to me. He doesn't look like Captain America; he looks like just another random secret agent/super soldier type, like a member of GI Joe or (comic book) SHIELD. There's nothing really "special" about it, IMO.

Honestly seeing the "old suit" again I think they should just update that somewhat. At best mix in the Shield suit. Hell the "old suit" has been modified enough from what we saw in First Avenger that is actually looks like a more modern take.

Any real modernization could take place under the suit.

Do you think we will ever see this suit, the classic 616 Cap costume on the big screen? And could it faithfully be translated into live action, without looking ridiculous, like the 1990 movie suit?

The thing is, the point of that sequence was to show how stupid that costume would look in real life. But other than the goofy mask, I think that costume actually looked good on film.

Agreed, I actually thought it looked better then the other suits Evans has won as Cap. Just give him a better mask and it would be perfect.

A perfect adaptation is impossible, because clothing doesn't work in real life the way it does in comics. That's why the materials will never have the same form fitting-ness, and headgear always needs heavy modification to not look terrible.

Excellent. The exposed ears and less loose neck area add a lot
