I keep meaning to give the new Valiant stuff a look, but it all looks a little too "Xbox cover art" for my tastes...

Don't feel the XBox cover style, didn't know it has a distinct style
H.A.R.D. Corps happen to be connected to S.H.I.E.L.D.? They have a full department for acronyms

To be fair, S.H.I.E.L.D. is a rip of other concepts from different media, so anybody rippin' them off is rippin' the original ripee....off.........yeah.

From Wiki:

Quote:
Michael O'Sullivan, the ruthless but honorable enforcer for a crime syndicate, is personally betrayed by his masters and is forced to flee with his young son Michael, Jr. on a quest for revenge. The story is set in the American Midwest during the Great Depression and draws upon several historical figures, especially the gangster John Patrick Looney, of Rock Island, Illinois; in real life, Looney came into conflict with Dan Drost, a formerly loyal lieutenant in their crime organization, and their feud eventually led to the death of Looney's son Connor.[1]
This story is loosely based on the Japanese manga series Lone Wolf and Cub.[2] This story was the basis for the 2002 film of the same name.
I haven't read this. But I loved the movie they made of it.
Probably Tom Hanks' last really good movie actually...

The Movie was awesome. Never got around to reading the comic. He was a complicated character. One of Hank's best roles. If he's half as good a character as he was in the film, then he'd still be pretty damn awesome.

Never sat through it
Is this like the Crow and the Mask? The adaption to film is better than the comic?

Quote:
The Lady Mechanika, a comic series in the steampunk genre,[1] was originally planned as a six-part story.[2] Aspen MLT agreed to produce the serial and began publishing them on an infrequent basis. The first issue of Lady Mechanika, issue #0, debuted and sold out in October, 2010. The third issue was scheduled for release December 21, 2011.[3] At the Steamcon III convention, held October 2011 in Bellevue, Washington, Joe Benitez won the Airship Award in the Visual category for his work on the comic.
Quote:
Lady Mechanika is a detective in 1800's Europe. She is part human, part machine and is proficient with many weapons. She suffers from amnesia about her past and works to unravel the mysteries surrounding it.
Read the first issue ages ago. As I recall, the story wasn't up to much. Very pretty art though.

Aw man. I missed the H.A.R.D. Corps. I was reading the last two issues last night, and I'm digging how complex they're making things with them. The company that funds them and sends them out on missions is terrible, but so is Harada, the man they're going after. It's giving the Bloodshot comic a nice, new niche.

Quote:
SuperPatriot is an Image Comics superhero created by Erik Larsen in 1992. SuperPatriot has had regular appearances in Erik Larsen's titles, whether in his own mini-series or as a supporting character and is currently a member of the Liberty League.
Quote:
SuperPatriot was once Johnny Armstrong, a soldier in World War II. Captured by the Germans, Armstrong was used as a guinea pig for scientific experiments and gained superhuman powers. He destroyed the base at which he was being kept so the Nazis could not replicate the process on their troops and donned an American flag-styled costume to become SuperPatriot. SuperPatriot later joined the superhero group called the Allies, working with such figures as Supreme and Mighty Man, and protected the innocent for many decades. He also worked with the WW2 version of Die-Hard and Glory as the group 'Allies'. [1] His World War 2 career also included a stint in Africa in 1943, chasing Rommel's 'Afrika Corps'. [2]
However, in the 1990s, SuperPatriot was faced with more brutal and intense supervillains than ever before and began to have difficulty dealing with them. Eventually, he was overpowered by members of the Vicious Circle, a group of supervillains organized by Chicago crime-boss Overlord. SuperPatriot was savagely attacked by his foes, with the shark-man Mako biting off his limbs and much of his face. Left for dead, SuperPatriot's body was taken by Cyberdata, a corporation of subversive scientists, and transformed into a powerful cyborg.
Initially his transformation made him highly unstable and he embarked upon a violent spree of vigilante murders, clashing with the Savage Dragon. Superpatriot was easily controlled while in this addled state and was made into a puppet killing machine by terrorist groups like the Covenant of the Sword. Also, he was temporarily controlled by the entity known as the Horde. Fortunately, the SuperPatriot later regained his own mind and became a superhero again, joining the newly formed Chicago group called Freak Force.
During his time with the team he learns that his long-term friend Mighty Man had actually perished some time ago and the powers were now being wielded by his former nurse.[3]
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... the '90s, everybody.

Didn't they make a Super Patriot for Captain America, then he took the mantle of Captain America?

I liked what little I read with him in it. Think he showed up in Brit or that other Image book about a family of super heroes.

Quote:
Brit's main superhuman ability is that of invulnerability. His body is totally impervious to any and every kind of physical injury and the limits of his invulnerability are unknown. Unlike many superheroes depicted with invulnerability, Brit does not show any degree of superhuman strength; he is only as strong as a regular human male relative to his physique.[4] Brit's powers are the result of a serum developed by his father some time before World War I and in addition to invulnerability, the serum also slowed his aging process.
Quote:
Brit starred in three one-shots: Brit (July 2003), Brit: Cold Death (December 2003), Brit: Red, White, Black and Blue (August 2004). Robert Kirkman wrote the three one-shots with Tony Moore illustrating the first and second issue and with Cliff Rathburn on the third. The one-shots have been collected in a trade paperback and was released in March 2007.
In August 2007, Brit was launched as an ongoing full-color series written by Bruce Brown[1] and features Rathburn's debut as an ongoing series artist. The series was overseen and edited by Kirkman. As of the second issue, Andy Kuhn came aboard as the series' breakdown artist. In the seventh issue, Rathburn was replaced by Nate Bellegarde as the new artist. The series expanded Brit's universe by introducing his brother and Sister and also revealed the origin of his powers.
The series was brought to a close with issue #12, because, according to Kirkman, "the book sells a fraction of what Invincible, The Walking Dead and The Astounding Wolf-Man sell. But I could have kept it going. I blame a horrendous shipping schedule for the low sales... something that I must shoulder the bulk of the blame for."[2]
On March 21, 2010, Brit was announced as the first member of the newly reformed Guardians of the Globe which will star in a six issue mini-series starting in August 2010.[3]
All I really know about Brit is that he's this random, unexplained guy who'd cameo occasionally in Invincible. I should probably check out more of him though.
Seems cool...

I've noticed him doing a lot of things in Invincible. He seems okay, but not someone I'd buy a solo of.

He's pretty cool what I read of him. Reminds me of Nick Fury back when he was Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD and not Director of SHIELD.

Guys a badass. Just because nothing can kill you, doesn't mean you can't get f**ked up.
