That's actually a great example. Kudos.

I think he's just choosing to do better films to do lately. Just looking at Wikipedia, you see this huge gap when it comes to awards and nominations.

Matthew has always been a great actor. Dazed and Confused, A Time To Kill, Contact, Amistad, & Lone Star.
He's had a few duds and some so-so films in the way but to anyone who's familiar with the guy they'll know he was quality way before this little renaissance he's having right now. With that said I think Affleck is going through a different type of transformation as an actor. Some actors take time to get comfortable and good at their craft and I believe Affleck has been improving for a while now. |

I'm confused why so many have so much faith in Affleck. I mean seriously... Are you really saying Ben can pull off Batman? Or is it just they think he can? Someone explain to me why they think Affleck can actually pull off Batman/Bruce? |

Okay, but I'm asking you why you think he would make a good Batman. I want a reasonable opinion. I want to hear why you think he will be a good Batman. I'm not trolling....I just want a reasonable opinion.

He showed that he could do contemplative brooding and tactically intelligent incredibly well in Argo.
His performance in that movie proved to me he could be a Tower of Babel/JLA:TAS type of Batman with the type of demeanor Bruce Greenwood usually injects into his Batman. That's the type of Batman I think Affleck is capable of doing and one that I'm personally looking forward seeing imagined onto the big screen. |

I don't know why, but I get a William Baldwin's Batman vibe from Affleck alone. But, it'll probably be different given the info we know about this version thus far.

Y'all should try to read "Tower of Babel" to see what Craig is talking about...if you have never read it.
edit: Greenwood has a....different take. Last edited by charl_huntress; 11-21-2013 at 12:07 AM. |

I'm yet to see Argo, but The Town is what gave me confidence in Affleck. As well watching a whole slew of Hollywoodland clips on YouTube. He has more range than people give him credit for.
Before I watched those... Yeah, I was mad.

I like the concept of Batman being the most dangerous man alive, ala Kingdom Come and other material. In fact, that could be a tagline on a Batman one-sheet poster. |

So I was trying to remember an Affleck performance that I kinda like and I came up with Hollywoodland. I actually thought Affleck did a pretty good job in the film. Usually I'm "he's okay I guess" but I thought he was fine in that film.
I wouldn't say that I have faith in Affleck so much as I'm giving him a chance like I'd give any actor. I'm super leery and keeping my fingers crossed. |

Tower of Babel is probably my favorite JLA story. Something I've always said I'd love to see adapted to big the big screen down the line (Justice League sequel).

I don't believe that Ben Affleck will be a great batman as much as I HOPE he will be a great batman.
I do however have complete faith in Zack Snyder. Even if Affleck's performance turns out to be not quite your cup of tea,I'm feeling like this will likely be the most comic accurate batman so far. Beyond excited to see one of my favorite directors(yes,I said it)take on my absolute favorite hero. If nothing else I'm sure it will atleast be a treat visually... Live action batman doing badass batman **** on a screen shared with superman. ![]() Awe inspiring performances or not, this is going to be most of us sitting in the theater.. ![]() Last edited by Astro13Zombie; 11-21-2013 at 10:31 AM. |

We are most definitely going to have the most badass Batman we've seen in live action. Snyder directing Batman has always been a vision of mine and if it's anything akin to Nite Owl in Watchmen, we are in for something truly amazing visually.

@Astro13Zobmie I'm unashamed to admit Snyder is one of my favorite directors. Maybe not top 10, but definitely top 20.
