Honestly, I love Jessica Chastain, but she would have been so wrong for the Wasp.
Are you sure they didn't mean Lang or Pym?

i just had a scary thought. if Wright, speculatively, were to go with his original original plan...what if the end of this movie is Cassie Lang taking up the mantle? and, just to get it out of the way, i'd be just as disappointed in this as Pym fans. but i could see someone like Feige or Whedon seeing it as getting the best of both worlds; female for diversity + the Giant-Man powerset. Pym would be adventuring in the 60s (50s or whatever). Lang would be operating in the 80s. and Cassie (who is an adult hero in the Ultimates universe), who would be 6-9 during the action of the movie would be the one to pick up the torch in the present. it'd save them money on size-changing characters.

they wouldn't have to transition whoever is playing Hank and Jan into the Avengers franchise; having settled on Cassie Lang. one paycheck is generally less than two.

of course, they could get around all of this by using that time gem.

I hadn't heard anything to the effect of Lang --- or anyone else --- in the 1980s.....just that Pym was supposed to be from the 1960s, and then Lang steals his suit in modern day.

In March 2008, Wright told Empire magazine that a second draft of the script was being written. Known for being a comedic writer, the director noted that the film would not be overtly comedic, but that it would be "more of a full-on action adventure sci-fi film but with a comedic element," and that it would not be a spoof. He confirmed that the film portrays both Henry Pym, as the original 1960s character from "Tales to Astonish", and Scott Lang as his 1980s/1990s successor in the Ant-Man role.

That sounds more like Edgar is confirming which Ant-Men are in the movie for those unfamiliar rather than the time line of the actual movie.

Exactly....i.e., he's saying when those characters first appeared in the *comics.* Doesn't indicate he intends to slavishly put them in those specific decades in the movie.

I think everybody --- including me --- has been misunderstanding that quote from day one. In actuality, sounds like Wright never gave any indication that any part of the movie would be set in the past.

Well, unless there is another quote somewhere which does say something more specific about Pym being in the 1960s. I agree though with what others have said that it just sounds like he's clarifying who is who, at least from that quote.

Nobody's being critical; just saying that we all may have misunderstood that from the beginning. That would make quite a lot of us need to reassess how we think this movie will go down. I'd like to have someone directly ask Wright if any of the characters are meant to be from the past, or whatever.

I wasn't taking a pot shot at you, I was just stating how I read it. I used your quote for context

i know. i wasn't trying to be defensive (i should have used a smiley). i'm hoping that it was a misinterpretation. i'd rather Pym and Lang be physically viable in the movie. and i want to see Giant-Man (Pym) in an Avengers movie, eventually. more to the point, i wonder why Wright hasn't spoken on this. unless he's just avoiding the internet, he would know that there are people genuinely worried about the Pym in the 60s angle. he could easily dismiss the notion.

No earth-shattering news here, but Wright says they won't be shooting Ant-Man in the UK:

Quote:
When asked by ScreenDaily if The World’s End could be his last production in the UK for some time, Wright said: “Ironically, Ant Man was meant to shoot in London but London is full because I guess that Pinewood extension got turned down.”

Pinewood has been turning down films for a while because the demand is so high.

I imagine Ant-Man will probably shoot in the U.S if they can't film in the UK. Marvel/Disney will probably look for a Cleveland/New Mexico/Charlotte type deal like with the previous U.S filmed Marvel productions.

I guess filming at Warner Brother Leavesden Studios in the UK is out of the question.

I think you meant "Wilmington" for the NC site. Charlotte is a pit of despair.

I got them muddled up which is odd because I've been to Charlotte but not Wilmington.

I'm really hoping Rudd gets the role, he is so underrated in Hollywood. Really great in both his comedic timing and he's forays into drama. Last I heard he was the front runner so here's to hoping we get him. It will be one of Marvel's best casting decisions

So in the latest issue of FF it turns out Scott Lang

@johnnycobalt Paul Rudd really looks like a John Buscema drawing of Hank Pym. Such a great choice if they go that way. Plus he's fun.

Mark Millar can go get stuffed considering what he did to the character.
