"Bane" is a good episode, but I don't like how Bane looks. I also highly prefer his second design.

all these gifs from Kane remind me how much of a gem the Batman animated series was.

lightning in a bottle man. i would debate with my friends about the quality of the live-action batman movies, but then we'd all agree that BTAS was great.

I watched Christmas with The Joker today, it being the festive season and all. I watch it around this time every year. I still get a kick out of Joker playing 'Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies' from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker in the finale scene.

Christmas with the Joker is one of the most brilliant Christmas episodes in all of animation IMO, and one of the best Batman Christmas stories in general. It is all about both Batman and the Joker wanting to spend time with their families for Christmas. The scary thing? They both make each other's wishes come true.

To Batman, his family is Alfred and Robin. They want to spend Christmas with him, but Bruce is too fixated on stopping crime. The Joker essentially makes Bruce's Christmas happen by fulfilling Batman's wish...to stop crime (Joker's crime). After that, Bruce finally gets the time to celebrate Christmas with Alfred and Robin.

To the Joker, Batman is his "family". The Joker gets his Christmas wish come true by having Batman come out on Christmas Eve to not just stop him, but to spend time with him. Also notice how he says "Welcome to the first Joker Christmas special" in the episode. Yep, that's right. He plans on doing this every year....

It really is a brilliant episode. It not only explores the disturbing family relationship between Batman and the Joker, but also manages to stay in line with the very lighthearted and warm tone of Christmas.

It's actually one of my favorite BTAS episodes all around. Sadly I haven't watched it yet this holiday season. Really gotta make it a point to watch it soon.

Funny, I've always found it to be one of the only real turds of the show. It's rather dull and uninteresting.

I agree. Bane looks a little too cartoony in his first appearance, as did the Scarecrow.

I would have to agree. "Holiday Knights" isn't that interesting, either.

BTAS Episode: Second Chance

http://kane52630.tumblr.com/post/718...nimated-series

Trivia
Quote:
  • Batman recollects the accident that scarred Harvey Dent from "Two-Face, Part I".
  • This is the second episode depicting a failed attempt to reform one of Batman's enemies. The first is "Birds of a Feather" and is then followed by "Harley's Holiday".
  • Batman said that only the kidnappers footprints would be in the OR because the doctors and nurses would wear paper socks over their shoes. However, Batman and Robin had already walked in the operating room trying to prevent the kidnapping, so their footprints would be there as well.

Loren Lester never got enough praise for his vocal performances as Robin.

Yeah which is a shame, I hear his Robin whenever I read the comics...same for Joker and Batman.

That was a great moment where Batman used a trick coin on Two-Face. That coin is Two Face's "Achilles' heel". His obsession with his coin is always what defeats him in the end. In "Two-Face, Part 2" Batman knocked over a box of coins as Two-Face decides Thorne's fate with his coin, in "Almost Got 'Im " Batman stole Two-Face's coin and used it to escape his trap, in "Shadow Of The Bat, Part 2" an enormous coin flips Two-Face. And I'm always moved during the ending when Bruce shows up for Dent. Still believing that his friend is still in there somewhere. "Second Chance" was an excellent follow up to the Two-Face 2 parter, imo.

I'm stuck here in ATL, cause I can't fly back home to Chicago, and was wanting to watch some BTAS, and just remembered it's on Amazon Prime.

Thanks Amazon!

I agree. He's the best Robin/Nightwing. Though Neil Patrick Harris was great as Nightwing in Under The Red Hood movie.

To me, this is the truest Batman of them all. When I watch the live-action films, I see and accept them as Batman, but I also see the liberties taken by the creative forces. I love Adam West, Michael Keaton, and Christian Bale, but this version is what I imagine Batman to be. The costume, the villains, the relationships between Bruce and his allies, and the world they live in. This is vengeance, this is the night, this is Batman.
