I thought her performance was a tad shaky at the start but it really grew on me as the film went along. She has marvellous comic timing in AH, too.

Don't know if this movie deserved four acting nominations, but then I thought exactly the same about Silver Linings Playbook.

I don't think that AH is Jennifer's BEST performance. However, that does not mean that it wasn't a great performance or that she didn't deserve the nomination, because it was and she does. I don't think that Al Pacino's performance in Scent of a Woman (which FINALLY won him an Oscar) was anywhere near his best, but it was still great. The same is true with Denzel Washington in Training Day or Gary Oldman in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (which FINALLY got him his FIRST Oscar nomination). None of these were those actors bests, but they were still great, just like Jennifer in AH.

The point was, Catching Fire she was WAY better! No less of emotion!!!

Jennifer Lawrence have a natural charisma/way to express her face that very very other FEW actresses can.

That Lupita can beat her, but I doubt she can do what Jennifer Lawrence does with her facial expression, period. I could be wrong, but J-Law is going to be in Hollywood a long time, her special ability is rare and awesome!

The pose reminds me a lot of Rebecca Romijn or at least Rebecca's pose in X-Men posters before.

So I guess the body is not that naked, she is wearing a bodysuit. You can see it more clearly in this picture.

...and she's no longer naked, from the acting perspective at least

I dunno why but there's something weird about the Mystique cover to me
her mid-section from boobs to hips looks wayy too long, like freakishly long
and Lawrence is pretty short, so I doubt it's her body
Perhaps just bad photochoppin', or an awkward angle for the photoshoot, but it looks off

ehh whatevs, as long as she looks better on film, and acts better than she did in the last x-film, I'm ok with her
i'm not in love with her like the rest of the internet, but she seems like a cool chick
I wanna actually like her in something

You don't like her in the hunger games movies? She's pretty good in that. But I think her best performance is in Winter's Bone. You should check that out if you haven't yet.

Only saw the first Hunger Games, and it was kinda boring to me, especially her character (I'm in the "battle royale did it first and better" camp)
I'll have to check out Winter's Bone (that's gotta be the porniest name for a non-porn ever)
any idea if its on netflix??

Not sure, but Winter's Bone is indeed a great film and she's awesome in it. You also might want to check out Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and even The Beaver. She's good in those movies too.

Also, Hunger Games: Catching Fire is a LOT better than the first one. You might want to give it a shot.

Jennifer Lawrence is flat out amazing in Catching Fire. Loved her in American Hustle but in Catching Fire, she's a bonafide star of the highest order.

That's a very layered performance, her's in Catching Fire.

Yeah, she's great in it. I liked her character in the first movie too, but most of the film just consisted of her climbing trees and hiding. I'm glad she got to be a full-on badass in the second one.

Same here too. Although in Winter's Bone, I see a lot of good acting, probably her best. Do see it if you haven't already. Everywhere else I see just more hype and/or...that film star presence with more confidence, but not as good acting. I saw about a half of the first Hunger games, couldn't watch it all the way. Wasn't her fault though, but for me it sucked. And I even watch a lot of B-movies. Will not see the 2nd one. I got my Battle Royale already, and Arnold's hilarious Running Man. I'm really hoping she kicks it up a notch in DOFP. In FC, she was very meh for me, and I even kind of liked January Jones.

But do check out Winter's bone. Genuinely a good movie, lots of great acting. Not just from Lawrence but everyone else too.

OK

First, if you have never seen CATCHING FIRE (NOT just the 1st Hunger Games) your opinion is half ignorant. She was AMAZING in that!

Second, what makes Jennifer Lawrence different from all other Hollywood actress that may appeal to people are because she is REAL, RESPECTFUL, KIND and VERY GOOFY FUNNY! She has ALL these qualities, on top of being very attractive!

<-------------- She makes HILARIOUS faces that only 0-5% of Hollywood can.

So, if you have seen Catching Fire, understood these points and still don't see why she is a big deal, I can only assume you like what about most actors in Hollywood which are FAKE, SELFISH, CARELESS, and NOT FUNNY!

Agreed...she's one of the few actors/actresses I enjoy watching interviews with. The others being Hugh Jackman and The Rock. They're just very comfortable with interviews and seem genuine.

Yeah, Lawrence confirmed that herself months ago. I remember reading something about her having some kind of allergic reaction to the make up that they used in FC. That probably played a role in them going with a body suit this time.

Just because someone is not a fan of JLaw work dosent make them ignorant or have bad taste in actors. I agree I like her sense of humor and that she is willing to be the typical skinny actress and she stands up for that which I totally respect. I have yet to see Catching Fire though Ive heard good things about it, though i wasnt convinced either of her character in FC.

If you are judging her strictly on her role in FC I can understand not liknig her. She's easy on the eyes but that role was wrong from the get go imo. Hoping she and Mystique are better handled here.

Winters Bone, Silver Linings,Catching Fire and American Hustle however have been the roles to see her in if you really wanna know why people like her as an actress and why she gets as much credit as she does. She's amazing in all of them and has had more then few top notch performances under her belt. She's only 23 and very few get to her caliber in a lifetime of acting.

It seems the biggest group of people indifference to Jennifer the most are obviously those has not seen Catching Fire, Winters Bone, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. Then act like they seen ALL the movies Jennifer is in, to make an not ignorant opinion.

Personally, American Hustle is overrated (Regarding the whole movie not just Jennifer Lawrence's character), but Catching Fire definitely is not!
