For those suggesting that WB bring on Jablonsky or the guys that work with David Fincher -- hell no. Jablonsky has been phoning it in for years, and I don't want a Reznor score for this movie.

If a RC/MV composer gets this gig, it will likely be Zimmer. Ramin Djawadi has really upped his game with Pacific Rim and "Game of Thrones" (his IM score bores me), and I wouldn't mind if he did it. But I would like some fresh blood for this movie, and his/her take on the material.

Why are you so guys worried that if Zimmer doesn't score it, his MOS theme won't be used? I'm sure it will be, regardless who scores it.

Maybe I'm such a blind fanboy, i don't understand any of the criticisms of Zimme. Mos was easily the best soundtrack of 2013, yet half the people want him replaced for the sake of change.

I don't want Zimmer replaced. I thought his mos score was perfect. I'm not opposed to someone different though.

I wasn't expecting much from Djawadi's "Pacific Rim" and was baffled to why Del Toro would hire a composer of his caliber. Especially knowing his track record with previous composers. On first viewing I didn't think his score was terrible (it had a catchy main theme) but I still felt Beltrami, Navarrete, etc could've done better. After repeated viewings of the movie I believe Djawadi's score elevated from "decent" to "great". And was glad he got the chance to score it. Shocker!!! The score was better than Zimmer's MOS in every way, imho. This is the second year where I prefer a score to an Idris Elba sci-fi movie (that starts with the letter 'P') scored by one of his proteges over a Zimmer superhero score. In 2012 it was Streitenfeld's underrated "Prometheus" score that I preferred over Zimmer's overrated TDKR soundtrack.

You can always count on Elevator Man to show up whenever somebody says something positive about Zimmer.

He's not a Zimmer hater, per se, but he does have a point. Zimmer's just been overexposed and nabs far many gigs that should go to other composers. (It's not like he needs the money, the guy is rolling in it.) He does good scores when he's pushed out of his box and allowed to experiment. Rush, The Da Vinci Code, Sherlock Holmes, Thin Red Line... Zimmer's best stuff is not in big-budget tentpoles.

I'm not opposed to Zimmer returning for this movie, but he needs to really put his all into it if he does. Or suggest one of his more talented colleagues for the gig.

Because Zimmer is overrated and his themes are too much like a drama/cop show then a superhero one. Which is why I refer someone like Clement, Elfman, or Drake to score it.

A lot of other composer's know there shize too. If Zimmer doesn't want to comeback well it would be a disappointment but lets see someone else step up and create something epic.

I think Reznor would actually come up with something pretty interesting and badazz....especially for a dark character like Batman.

Zimmer will probably end up doing it.

And thats how it should be. I don't wanna loose his Superman theme. Also, his scores are the only superhero scores in the last 25 years that are worth mentioning. So, yeah... he NEEDS to come back. The movie would loose a lot for me, when Zimmer would not return.

I think 99.9% of people here don't want to lose him but if Zimmer doesn't want to comeback there are others who are more than capable of stepping up.

Frankly, I'd like to see Nick Cave and Warren Ellis do one. They did the soundtracks to Lawless, The Proposition, The Road, and some other stuff. Nick Cave's no stranger to darkness, so I think they could come up with some great Batman music, at least.

Maybe if Fincher directed that Batman movie, but I don't know.

Absurd comments like this really rub me the wrong way. So basically you're saying that Zimmer is the only composer whose superhero scores are worth mentioning since Elfman's B89. That's what you'e basically saying. You must've missed Walker's scores to the 90s short lived The Flash TV show, as well as her and some co-composers scores for B:TAS and S:TAS. So none of these scores are worth mentioning i.e. Walker's B:MOTP, Horner's The Rocketeer and TAS-M, Goldsmith's The Shadow, David Newman's The Phantom, Revell's The Crow, Silvestri's Judge Dredd, CA:TFA, and The Avengers, both of Elfman's Spider-Man scores and Hulk, Beltrami's Hellboy, Carlos Silliotto's The Punisher '04', Giacchino's The Incredibles, Ottman's X2 and SR , Powell's X3 and Hancock, Tyler's IM3 score. To name a few. I believe all those blow Zimmer's contributions to the genre so far out of the water. So I'd say his TDKT and MOS scores are hardly worth mentioning. Hopefully he doesn't botch the score to TAS-M2 b/c I was big fan of Horner's underrated score for the previous film.

I like Zimmer. But I wish another composer would be allowed to take a shot at the Batman theme.

Harry Gregson Williams or Michael Giacchino would be great.

What about Silvestri?

I thought his Avengers score was awesome. A return to form for him. His Captain America score was great too.
