That's what it seems like they've been going for with her, they're focusing more on making her deadly rather than powerful.

Quill is the rogue, Drax is the muscle, Gamora is the ruthless cunning killer, Rocket is the brash gangster, and Groot is the intellectual soft spoken one.

I really find this notion that female characters should be made WEAKER just for the sake of making them "different" or having them "stand out" to be puzzling. I keep hearing the same thing over on the DC boards when it comes to Wonder Woman, and I don't get it? Why should the female character be the ones who have to be weaker just to be different, that's just dumb? We already have a badass, ruthless, cerebral female assassin in the MCU. Her name is Black Widow. Why should Gamora be the same, that makes no sense. Do something different with her.

so? Why should it matter? It's obvious the universe is a big place. Besides, it will be different because I assume Gamora will be > Black Widow. She better be....Widow ain-t the deadliest woman in the galaxy haha

Gamora is a bit weaker than Drax in the comics too. And looking at the description it seems she has cybernetic implants etc. She's obviously on another level compared to Widow.

Kingpin is a beast though.
I just started up on the Miller/Klaus omnibus and he's portrayed as a human wrecking ball. He looks over 7 feet tall and 500lbs of portly muscle!

So far as Gamora's strength levels I see them being toned down from the comics and the focus being on her incredible fighting skills, that said she should be able to fillet BW.

I wouldn't say Gamora should be weaker to "stand out" or anything. Its just that she has a niche in the party dynamic, just like the other characters do, and massive superhuman strength relative to the party bricks isn't part of it. Groot's whole schtick is largely to be the team brick. Drax's schtick is to be a heavy duty warrior brick. If Gamora is not only faster and more skilled than them ( which she should be ), and armed with better weapons than them ( which she should be ), but also brickier than them? It makes Drax and Groot redundant.

Now, should she be powered down relative to the comic? Probably, but only in the sense that everyone largely is. In terms of *relative* power level, she should be the same.

Yea exactly. They all need to be unique and have something to offer as individuals. I like the idea of her having cybernetic implants. Thanos probably upgraded her and his other mooks. Nebula obviously has some kind of cybernetics, as does Korath. Perhaps Ronan too.

Lol this has nothing to do with her being a female, good grief you are literally putting words in our mouths.

Nobody said ANYTHING about Gamora needing to be weaker because she's a female.

To make that implication towards this discussion is entirely ridiculous.

If anything, many characters are suggesting de-powering A LOT of characters both male & female to keep things sensible all around. But no one is specifically stating that decreasing any of their power has to do with gender or anything along those lines.

Definately, hell even Drax is gonna "depowered" in the film since he's the much weaker Modern Drax.

Sif would dice Gamora into a bloody green salad within minutes. Gamora is stronger than a human being and a great fighter but she doesn't possess the sort of super-strength that Sif has. Nor can she match Sif's centuries of combat experience.

Sif had super human strength? You'd never guess from the movies

Thanos would make mince meat of most of the Marvel universe.

^ Similar to Drax her fights against Thanos don't often reflect her normal power level, it's just one of those things.

I'm willing to bet the same with Gamora, I'm sure she isn't going to do anything as impressive as Sif vs The Destroyer.

Yeah, Gamora actually doesn't have superhuman strength while Sif most certainly does. A lot of the fights between minor characters and Thanos depended on plot-induced stupidity to work, including the one depicted above.

Disagree. Both are deadly fighting machines. The end result could go either way, but I think it would be a competitive battle.

No, if we went by the comics & there was no plot induced stupidity or ridiculous instances to tip the favor, Sif would destroy Gamora. There are no two ways about it.

As far as the films are concerned, even with Sif not having the proper screen time, based on how Gamora is going to be portrayed it would be the exact same outcome.

These are two characters you shouldn't even pit against one another. It's like asking who'd win against Galactus & Apocalypse. One is just always going to be able to dominate the other unless you introduce some incredibly erroneous plot devices.

Or unless Gamora manages to get a respectable power up.

I'm basing it on Gamora's ability to battle Thanos or how she can toss around Ronan the Accuser like a rag-doll. But I'll go with the opinion of those more familiar with the abilities of each. I generally avoid such fantasy "who would win" debates, as the answer is inevitably, "Anyone can win any fight depending on the creativity of the writer and artist depicting the battle."
