I caught that disclaimer too!!

If only Disney had postponed the release of its Blu ray by a couple of weeks; Frozen would've made 400 mil domestic by now.

I wonder what their initial "internal" expectations were for Frozen......

like, were they just aiming for $200M domestic?

did they know if was going to be this big?

and, I wonder if they ever expected Elsa to be the more popular of the sisters.

I would assume they were thinking Tangled numbers....

I doubt they had ANY CLUE of what it would end up doing.

remember......no more princess movies after Tangled.

and yeah.....I know I was hoping it would at least match Tangled's numbers. and I was worried it would have a hard time reaching that.

it just seemed like there wasn't that much buzz about the movie before release.

I remember 2 weeks before its release, I was talking to a friend and asked if she was going to see the new Disney princess movie and she was surprised. she had no idea another Disney princess movie was coming out.

I think Tangled numbers was expected. Just from the shortage of merchandise it's clear they weren't expecting this blizzard of success. Disney actually "originally" produced less merchandise for Frozen than for Tangled or Brave, as Tangled merchandise did well, but nothing exceptional, and Brave stuff didn't really move well at all. This created an instant shortage of Frozen merchandise that still still continues to this day as Frozen shelves at Disney stores are still bare, it sells as fast as it comes in.

oh, I didn't know that about the merchandising.

and speaking of merchandising, judging by some of the early products that were released, it does seem like Elsa was going to have silver/white hair, and they must have changed it to platinum blonde late in the process.

Adam Sandler made sure to let his kids know that he's on the stage with Kristen Bell AKA Anna while accepting award for KCA.

The weird thing is the Elsa actresses at the Disney parks have WHITE hair, which is wrong. I can see how early products might have the wrong color hair but certainly they knew what color hair Elsa has when they were putting together her park costume.

Japan is freaking crazy for Frozen.
Estimates had Frozen at -2% for it's 3rd weekend, actuals are out now and it turns out to be +1% making it back-to-back increases. Not only that, but early Monday numbers are showing another big increase.

Toho

first Monday - 19,967
last Monday - 28363 (+42%)
today - 40807 (+43%)

I hope they've got her hair color correct at the parks by now.

but the fact that the park actresses had white hair lends credence to my belief that Elsa's hair was intended to be white until fairly late in the process.

with that being said, it might have been interesting if they had indeed kept Elsa's hair white. would have made her stand out even more.

especially since Kida isn't considered an official Princess.

Well, to be fair, she does have white hair for a short while in the film. Look closely, it changes from blonde to white when she makes her dress. But it changes back to blonde in the next cut, so I'm not sure why it does that.
