oKAY, finally saw Days of Future Past, have to say that the Quicksilver
sequence at the Pentagon was one of the highlights of the film (which was good,
and had great moments, but I think the reviewers have been a bit over-generous,
there ain't no way it was better than any of the Dark Knight films or Man of Steel,
anyway, rant over !)

Anyway, I have to say that the slo-mo used for Quicksilver's kitchen fight was magnificent, as good as Singer's Nightcrawler-attacks-the-White-house sequence.

However, that kind of slo-mo depiction of super-speed I think should ONLY be used by the FLASH in a JL film. Because, as Wonder Woman once said Superman has to think about his super-speed to use it. The Flash, on the other hand sees the world in just this way, as though the rest of us are crawling along. As such, it would be appropriate to use slo-mo in a JL film in which the Flash appeared, but otherwise not for Superman himself. In fact it might be good to use slo-mo to contrast Superman's speed vs the Flash: that to the Flash everyone else moves in slo-mo EXCEPT Superman, who still isn't as fast as him, but close.

Also, I've always found Quicksilver a bit annoying, but Singer made him a lot of fun, and breathed new life into the character. Best Singer film in ages.

Slow mo looks cool for certain scenes and I hope Snyder incorporates them in but not too much.

Some bat-slo-mo action would be cool. Maybe to show off the new Batmobile?

Here's the thing. It's other folks doing slo-mo that's the issue. The Slo Mo in 300 and Watchmen was great.

Snyder knows how to do it correctly.

300

The scene slows down because a lot of cool stuff is happening in the background and foreground.

Watchmen

Used to denote speed and power. And the audience feels the hardest blows. Also they are doing some very pretty moves that it's best to slow down so you can see it.

In both cases the music works with the scenes.

When other people do it, they have no cohesion and it's very "Oh look this is a cool shot in slo - mo".

In Man of Steel who did have slo mo in the form of normal speed.

Honestly Snyder Slo-mo is awesome because it's used wisely. But then Resident Evil and co tell you slo mo is just a gimmick.

I'm still pretty surprised there were no slow motion sequences in MOS. Was it because the cinematographer was different?

I'm sure that had a heavy hand in it, and I'm willing to bet Snyder want to branch out and try something (which is natural).

Having Batman and Superman fight for the first time on the big screen and not using slo-mo would but a huge disappointment and wasted opportunity.

Slo-mo of adds to the "epic" feeling too.

I wouldn't mind seeing it used the first time we see Batman, maybe jumping out of the batmobile or walking down some steps in the batcave.

Don't really care. I feel Snyder will use it IF it's appropriate.

I want 40% of the action scenes to have a slow mo or bullet time effect

No need to make a new thread on this as I used the search function. I really hope we get some cool fun stuff like this, but seems Snyder is gunshy to do this with Superman films. Kind of a shame cause it would work so well!

Minimal slow motion please. There was only a couple times where I thought slow mo could have worked in man of steel.

Congrats Clark, you're becoming more proficient in necromancy every day. And before you say "I wasn't around when this thread was active", I'd like you to know that I also wasn't around when Ava Gardner was in her prime, but I didn't try to resurrect her.

I wish slow-mo was banned (except for Flash).

That's what I loved about MoS cinematography.

I think it may be a case of what Batmannerism was saying, that he will bring back the Slow motion for The Flash to differentiate between Superman and Flash's powers. I mean, if Superman can move all precisely and fast while the rest of the world remains almost frozen, like that Quicksilver scene, then it kind of negates Flash's power, or at least makes him a lot less fun for the audience, like "Oh big deal, he's doing what Superman already did in the past two movies, what's Aquaman doing?" I think Snyder was thinking ahead and wanted to save that visual to make Flash stand out more. And I wouldn't be surprised if his Flash action scenes are way cooler than Quicksilver's scene, but everybody finds a bs reason to say it was stupid.

I thought the Quicksilver sequence was pretty cool, but how the hell did he listen to that song within a span of a millisecond?

My one problem with speed on the level of Quicksilver and Flash is that it opens up way too many instances of "why didn't they just...?" Like QS could pretty easily kill, capture, or subdue any of the other mutants, all within the span of a couple seconds.
