Default Hank's serum

Well, I was thinking:

It is pretty much obvious the serum can "fix" Xavier's physiology and inhibit the mutant powers at the same time. Anyway, Hank seems to suggest you can "find" a balance of some sort and retain BOTH your "fixed physiology" and your mutant powers, but Xavier just overdid it and didn't want to be a mutant again. He started to hate "the voices" (telepathy) and just dropped the ball.

Hank was able to "fix" his blue appearance (which was an artificially "acquired" trait and not part of his original mutation) and - at the same time - retain his ability to turn into the blue Beast again if undergoing stress.

I just think Timeline Prime Xavier used an improved version of the serum (The Last Stand/Origins), but even that version had some heavy countereffects and Xavier must have refused to take it anymore in the nineties or so.

Now my real question is: how does this serum differ from the "Legacy" Cure of X3 in your view?

It differs cause Hank made it, lol. And well, it was not designed to be permanent.

Also, I like that Beasts arc was left unresolved. I expect him to still be taking the serum in XMA and finally learn acceptance in that film.

I don't understand why the sentinel thought Hank was human after taking the serum; it was going off of appearance alone. Trask said that the sentinels could tell the difference between humans and mutants.

Didn't it suppress the mutant gene? perhaps he took enough of it, so he was temporarily a human.

I found this response from IMDB very interesting:

"I'm not really sure WHAT the serum is or how it works.

For instance, does it just 'suppress' mutant powers or serve as a temporary 'cure' (in other words, basically a less developed version of the cure in X3).

When Hank reverts to 'human form' during the Washington battle, the Sentinel doesn't detect him as a mutant...but Hank WAS a mutant even in his human form (the blue furry 'Beast' appearance was his more 'evolved' form triggered by the initial serum). So in his human form in DOFP, does Hank NOT have his natural powers (agility, being able to cling to surfaces etc.)?

What about Charles...is he NOT a mutant when he takes the serum?

I also don't see how a serum designed to either suppress or temporarily 'cure' mutant powers serve as a means to repair spinal damage.

The only explanation I can think off is that the new serum is based on Mystique's DNA as well (a LOT of things seem to be based on Mystique's DNA in this franchise!) That would make sense if the purpose of the serum was to affect people's physical appearances/repair physical damage. But here, its shown to be suppressing a mutant ability that has NOTHING to do with physicality.

So honestly, I don't know how it works."

Well no, he loses his powers... That much is clear.

The serum suppresses mutation - in small doses it is physical suppression (see First Class for details), in large doses it takes away powers too, as seen by Xavier's overdose and Beast using it at the White House battle.

The serum Xavier uses is explicitly stated to be a modification made to cure his spine, with the suppression effect retained
