This is simply a match up where you vote for the one you think would win in a combat, I try to make it as fair as possible, but sometimes even I can mess-up so...
Anyhow, let's start with the first match-up.

Gaara, of the desert.

Magneto.

I take that back. Apparently some sand has some form of Magnetite in it. So it comes down to where the fight is being held. If Magneto is lucky enough to be anywhere near such sand or that Gaara uses such a thing. He could win it.

Magneto, definately. With control over magnetism, one of the more powerful forces in the universe, he is more or less the Unified Field theory. theoretically, he could control all forms of energy. Everything has a magnetic field, anyway. It's how he flies, for evample.

That's way better than some freaky dirt racoon dog with insomnia.

Some of them are preatty good, especially the leader and Itachi.
Itachi just need eye contact with one, and he's able to break down his foe mentally, which would lead to death.
And the leader have the 8-tailed beast in him (like Naruto (9-tailed) and Gaara (1-tailed)

Not all 9 members of Akatsuki have been revealed. So the remaining unknowns can either make them stronger or weaker than the New Avengers.

So I'll go with the Avengers. Wolverine's healing factor makes him one hard target to kill for Akatsuki. Any replacement & shadow replacement techniques won't fool his nose. He'll sniff you out.

Kabitoshin could travel where ever he wants within the universe with the instant-translockation (which was stated to make it superior to Gokou's)
However Kabitoshin was about Kanzentani Seru's level.

And Thor is about Hulk's level...

So this will indeed draw alot of DBZ-fanatic-n00b-atention

Well, that, but I meant strength-wise.
And Thor is stronger than Hulk, if I remember.

...And Yep. Expect DBZ hardcore bias fans to put any DBZ character over a DC/Marvel character. You could put Videl against Juggernaut and they'd say Videl would win.
