Based on what we know (140+ budget, fan-friendly director and studio), how much do you think Iron Man will make domestic/worldwide? Also how much does it need to gaurantee a sequel?

Whether the film is actually good or not, they need to make sure they market it right in order to do good BO. DD wasn't a great film (IMO) but I remember before the film came out, every commercial break there was a DD spot. If I recall it did respectable BO numbers for a movie about a lesser known hero. We definitely need a "from the creators of Spider-man and the X-men" tagline and colorful images of IM doing cool stuff, as well as a LOT of promotional tie-ins (fast food toys, video games, etc.), to get the kids saying "Mommy! Mommy! I wanna see Iron Man!"

I agree, while its abit to early to speculate on box office takes for a film 2 years away, marvel needs to make Iron man more well known, his involvement in Civil War, good or bad is a start, they need to get a weekly aniamated series and more exposure, like tie ins as Spider-man said, now, do I think Iron Man will have kids saying "Mommy,Mommy,I want to see Iron Man", yeah, I can see that, but Marvel and Paramount have alittle work to do to get there, imo.

i'm predicting 300 million domestic/ 600 million wordlwide. for this one reason...he is easily accesible to all age groups. he's not a goffy superhero with unbelievable powers and villians.

600 million???
Only 30 movies have made over 600 million. It's not an easy task. |

I can't make a projection till I see who the cast is. If it's a solid cast and Fav's gets a great script 200 million domestic is the limit this new franchise can make and perhaps 175-200 overseas. Honestly the publics first perception of this film will be the trailers. Forget what we read and see here.

Going in blind as I am, if it's good then I could see an opening of similar caliber to X1 and FF(50M range) and a total of 175M. Probably 125M or so overseas. So 300M WW. If it beats that then I'll bee an even happier man.

Well there is a saying "reach for the stars, you may not get one but at least you won't come up with a handfull of mud" Now looking back that was to high but i think spidey one type numbers are attainable.

$200M domestic would be a massive success and is the top of the scale for Iron Man,anything north of $150 domestic is a big hit for a fresh franchise
WW numbers i think will be around $120-25M
