Hmm. Why do I distrust this here quote?! Iron Man anyone?
The Incredible Hulk? ![]() Marvel not doing 'crappy' movie games anymore, says exec by Alexander Sliwinski { Aug 19th 2009 at 7:00AM } ![]() "We are not doing movie-based games anymore," Rubenstein said following yesterday's announcement of Digital Comics for PSN at Sony's GamesCom press conference. "Actually, wait ... we are not doing crappy movie-based games anymore. You can quote me on that." Oh, we did. Rubenstein tells us that work on Iron Man 2 has been in process since the first game wrapped. He wasn't involved in the first one, so he asked us not to blame him for that wreck. However, he swears the second one is going to be good. He's also really excited about the Thor game and seems proud with the team working on it. If Wolverine is any indication of future Marvel games, it seems that Rubenstein is doing his best to make sure fans of the comics won't be served watered-down Hollywood entertainment. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/08/19/ma...ore-says-exec/ Yeah.. I'm gonna have to see this Iron Man 2 game to believe it, haha..

I'll believe it when I see it. |

Ok, Iron Man did suck. But Incredible Hulk was alright. Besides, check Marvel's video game record:
Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction Marvel Ultimate Alliance Nearly every Spider-Man game when the Playstation came along. All those x-men vs street fighter/marvel vs. capcom games Hell X-Men Origins: Wolverine was better in it's first 15 minutes of gameplay than the whole damn movie (the PS3/X360 version anyways) As many bad movie-based games as there are out there, Marvel has a decent enough track record to where I will have faith. NOW DC* ON THE OTHER HAND... *Said in regards to previous DC games. Arkham Asylum is gonna rock! |

Spider-man has a chance!!!!!!!! *jumps and soars through the air*
Don't you get it!? Even if the new Activision spidey game sucks, the movie ones will be forced to listen to fans and make fans happy. I could cry. |

Cool. Let's hope Sega agrees, though. The reasons IM & TIH sucked so much is because crappy Sega made them.

I don't really play too many video games. The last Marvel video game I played was the Ultimate Spider-Man video game and I thought that was one of the best Spider-Man video games I ever played. I still actually own that game but I don't have a Playstation 2 anymore. Heh.

Does Marvel even have much say in the movie based games? I didn't think they developed them, just sold the rights to other companies, like they sold the rights for characters to film studios. Movie based games have a long, proud tradition of sucking, why does Marvel want to mess with that.

If they could make a Thor game work, they would have done it. I predict InFamous with a hammer.

I believe it. theres no reason for them to lie. if it sucks it sucks, but i have a feeling Iron man 2 wont this time around. it should at least be decent. nothing spectacular.

Yea i think they are taking a turn for the better. Wolverine was their first step and appears as tho Iron Man 2 will be the next. The game is set in the movie world but will NOT follow the movies plot in anyway. The game will have its own story. That alone should help a bit, movie scripts dont make good game scripts.

Well the first step to correcting a problem is admitting you have a problem. So maybe Marvel will start doing something to ensure that their game titles are of a higher quality.
And movie or no movie they need to make a Daredevil game! |

Yea, DareDevil would be really cool. Im thinking the Assassins Creed engine would be great for it, theyd need to make DD much more acrobatic compared to Altair/Ezio tho, but i think that would work quite well.

Until they wrangle away Spider-Man and Ultimate Alliance (to a lesser extent) from Activision, I refuse to believe that we won't be getting at least one terrible Marvel game a year.

It's ironic because no developer would acknowledge their own games suckitude until way after its release. I can see it now, "We don't release crappy games! That last game was great, if you didn't like it, too bad."

Spider-Man Web of Shadows. A decent game, but it was slackin'... big time. If Marvel is gonna allow another Spidey game to be released.. they NEED to follow a few guidelines...
1.) No. Whiny. Ass. Spider-Man. Please don't make him sound like a 4th grader!! (Although, the writing and the jokes were damned funny at times. The dialogue between Kingpin and Spidey made me bust the **** up laughing.. haha!) 2.) Webs should connect to buildings.. NOT THE SKY! WTF!?

i can easily see how arkham asylum gameplay can get boring. But the story should hold interest. The replay value is also pretty low with no online play so i think its more of a rental then a buy
