Like the title says, whats the point now. If he can't be seen or detected while moving at super speed, if he is already inspiring the city of Metropolis as the blur, if he is already getting romantic with Lois while working with her at the Daily Planet, if everyone in Clarks life has seen him without the glasses, then what would make this Clark want to become Superman now?
Also, I'm upset that after it was said that this Superman interpretation would see Clark as the real person while Superman would be a disguise, only to go down the route that has those roles flipped. And I will only get angrier if Lex resurfaces as an underground criminal mastermind with stupid sidekicks and cray real estate schemes. And I have a sickening feeling that will happen. Just like I have the sickening feeling that somewhere out there, Jon Peters is smiling about a version of Superman/Clark Kent running around in a black Neo-esque trench coat while not flying.

well we dont know how things will turn out. I doubt if/when lex returns he would be just a simple criminal mastermind. As for the whole glasses thing, that can still be fixed in some logical fashion. We will just have to see how things will end up going. I dont see how the role of hero mode and clark has switched. He is clark kent first and for most and the hero thing is just what he can do.

right now, Clark doesn't need the disguise... but sooner or later, he's gotta be outed. At that point, he's gonna need the alter ego. I was just discussing this in another thread. He'll need the costume/disguise after the Blur is exposed at the climax of the final episode of the series.... he gets the costume in the post climax wrap up of the finale episode.

Superman doesnt hide himself from humanity, or think he's above it. He interacts with humanity and leads by example. Clark wont be able to do that as a non-descript urban legend. Once he realizes that is when he needs to become Superman.

As they demonstrated last season, the blur is already a pseudo-symbol of justice to the people of Metropolis. Clark is comfortable for now doing that, but the point of Superman is to be that shining light for the whole world, not just one city. Something has to push Clark to realize that he needs to up his game on a global scale if he wants to be at his most effective, and that's when he will step out of the shadows.
Batman is the one who can remain in the dark and be effective, but his primary concern has always been Gotham, and not as many people outside of the Superhero community look to him as a paragon of virtue so it doesn't phase him as much. |
