No. It's how it is with these screenings man. Security is always tight, so no phones. I went in with nothing but my popcorn and drink and a pen.

So which theater were you in and how can you go to the theater you're in? Are you also in New York?

So what do you guys think of the leaked version of the script?

In my opinion, it contradicts the long-standing opinion that Sony was responsible for screwing up the movie. It had a sub-par script to begin with. Here are some of the parts which I am glad did not make it into the movie:

1) Peter's Dad: His inclusion seems the weirdest plot point in the script to me. Basically, Peter had this stalker dad who has been watching over him for all his life and only comes back when Gwen dies? Seems a bit far-fetched to me.

2) The alternate death scene: Seriously? Gwen survives long enough to make Peter promise her to continue being Spider-Man? A promise which he violates in the next scene? I was okay with it in the first movie but it would have really degraded Peter's character if this scene was included. Plus, the whole meaning of their relationship would have been thrown out of the window.

3) Max's Mom: Another way to make Max a complete loser.

4) Mary Jane: I am okay with her not making it in the final cut. Webb was right to cut her scenes to focus more on Peter and Gwen.

The only thing which should have been incorporated was the alternate story of Harry Osborn. Based on what I have read, the original script allowed his character to breathe a little more before he eventually went bat-**** crazy.

After reading some plot lines from this leaked version of the script, I can safely say that we got a far better movie than the one we could have gotten. Sony should not have hired Kurtzman and Orci altogether.

Oh, and no amount of extra footage can change the flaws in the script. I am kinda glad that we are not getting a director's cut.

The one that teekay saw sounded great. I'm happy orci off the project. Just hire someone like Vince gilligan

This movie was virtually doomed from the get-go. That leaked script was on par with the awfulness of the one we actually got, if not worse. Peter's dad, alive and well, has been watching him? WTF???? What's funny is it takes even *more* of UB's influence away. God this franchise is a bust.

And I thought Superman in Superman Returns was a bad dad.

That award now goes to Richard Parker.

You know I try to cut screenwriters a fair amount of slack as we all know this stuff gets rewritten numerous times, sometimes by people we never hear of. But some of this almost convinces me these two are as bad as everyone says. The stuff about Pete's dad in particular sounds completely asstastic.

I'm glad about the changes to the ending, but O think the original Goblin transformation sounds better.

Ya know, the only thing that Sony can be blamed for is the fact that they are idiots. The first thing I would have done on seeing the script by Orci and Kurtzman is laugh my ass off. And I think Sony did realise their mistake when TASM2 was about to complete it's filming. Better late than never, right?

That is why we had those reshoots in Jan., to insert some form of semblance into it all.

I can't think of a nicer or more intelligent way of saying this; I think the original script sounds like ass and that the film was always destined to suck.

I thought after the first one was edited to death they would have learned for the sequel at this point I wish they would have never rebooted so early

I think you mean you wish they never edited the first movie to death. If they do the same with the third they're ****ed

Sony should hire David S Goyer to write TASM3.

I physically laughed when I read about Peter's dad coming back. Jesus...talk about completely misunderstanding a character. Sony has ****ed this up so bad I'm finding it hard to believe this is all real. My hopes for TASM3 just hit rock bottom. Spidey will come back one day. But it sure as hell won't be anytime soon. Not with Sony still around.

Remember that this was an early draft. The one teekay described to us was more convincing

I loved TASM2 but some parts of the original script make me cringe, especially Peter's father at the end. Oh god, why? I didn't have much problem with the writing in TASM2 but now I'm convinced that TASM3 needs better writers, please...!

Early draft or not, THEY FILMED PETER MEETING HIS FATHER. IT'S ON THE BLU-RAY! They clearly liked that garbage.

And as for Teekay's verison, I don't buy it. I don't think he saw that version of the film nor did he see the film early. I think he's full of crap, personally.

Oh God... that script was awful. The stuff with Peter's dad was really cringe worthy. What the **** are they doing with this franchise?

If it wasn't for Emma Stone, Sally Field and (to a lesser extent, IMO) Andrew Garfield... then this version of Spidey would be worth nothing.

Yeah, the whole thing with Peter's dad actually still being alive was such a horrid idea and the fact that they filmed it means they had planned on possibly using it. Good lord These deleted scenes on the BR sound really bad and I'm glad they were cut. The scene with Max's mom might have been good though.

I will never understand people's need to trashtalk movies.

I dislike MoS quite a bit, but I don't see the point in going on the MoS boards and talking **** about it. Complete waste of time.

Edit: *dislike, not pretty.

Exactly. I don't see a movie and hate it, and then decide to spend hours upon hours on a message board constantly talking about my hate and dislike for it. The movie came out in May and some are still in here discussing their hate or dislike for it, meanwhile I loved it and I haven't been in here since the film came out probably.

I know the excuse everyone is gonna say "it's a forum for discussion whether that be negative or positive" or the other usual "a thread where everyone only loved the movie and discussed it would be no fun, debate is good" blah blah. The discussion of disliking and hating it just goes nowhere. The film has been made and can't be changed, it is what it is. And there's also a way to discuss things without sounding ridiculous.
