I usually enjoy European movies with American actors. I just got two Italian Jack Palance movies called "Mr. Scarface" and "Cop in Blue Jeans" and I'm looking forward to watching them.
I'm also looking forward to discovering more Fernando Di Leo's movies, specially "Caliber 9."
Not sure about everything...but I have seen a few. A lot of obscure stuff was released to tape in the early 80's and then disappeared (much like a bunch of stuff first released on cheap DVDs are now impossible to find) and that's where I saw "Cop in Blue Jeans". Unfortuantly I can't remember a lot about it.

If you want to see a couple of crazy European Jack Palance movies, check out the two GOR movies he made (although he's in one a lot more than the other).

Thanks.
I really like Jack Palance (an underrated actor imo), so I will look them up.

They certaintly aren't the best movies ever made....but they are based on a series of sci fi/fantasy books I had read so I had to hunt them up when they came out.

He was also great in the Pusher movies. I'm looking forward to watching Valhalla Rising as well.

Speaking of Miike, I really liked Sukiyaki Western Django (the only film of his I've seen). Far from a great movie, but an enjoyable schlockfest.

Hm. I never saw this thread before.

Well just to feel social I'll throw out some of my favorite foreign films:

-The Bicycle Thief
-Rashomon
-Ran
-Nosferatu (either version, though the first one is silent and may not count)
-Day For Night
-The 400 Blows
-8 1/2
-The Seventh Seal
-Pan's Labyrinth
-The Lives of Others
-La Vie En Rose
-Let the Right One In
-The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I admit, I need to see more foreign films.

Pretty great start though. I love them all, except La Vie en Rose that I haven't seen yet.

I concur. Amazing movie. To go from such a masterpiece to The Tourist still baffles me.

I'm planning to watch The 400 Blows soon. Mainly because it's one of Kurosawa favorite movies.

Great film. Probably Truffaut's best. One of the best child's performance ever with Jean Pierre Leaud. They did more films together later on in Truffaut's career but could never replicate the magic of their first collaboration imo.

Eh, Stolen Kisses suffers from Return of the Jedi syndrome--it looks a lot "worse" than it should because of its predecessor.

I really preferred Ip Man than Ip Man 2. Looking forward to Legend of the Fist. Why do all Chinese superheros that I know of seem to have modeled their look after Kato's ? (The limo driver with a mask on look)

Not yet, but I want to, it looks interesting. Didn't it win Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival or something? I like the forest creature with the red eyes.

Yeah it won the Grand Prix at Cannes, I've got to do a presentation about it tomorrow.
