the books and the show aren't exactly note for note in synch in case you hadn't noticed. and yeah Dawn was featured pretty well in the Tower of Joy scene I thought.

I also realized that Arya will probably get back to Winterfell while Jon is away at Dragonstone. Goddamnit.

Maybe she can finally rid everyone of Littlefinger while she's there.

I assumed it was a reference to the prophecy "born beneath a bleeding star." Ned placed Dawn at the foot of Lyanna's bed with the hilt up. The hilt had a sun (a star) on it and the blade was bloody from killing Ned's men and Arthur Dayne.

Tell me about it. It really took me out of the show, just so HBO can have their obligatory nude scenes to cater to the perverted men out there. If the scene isn't moving the story some how, it shouldn't be in it. This is one of those.

Same with the wolf scene. It ended up meaning nothing, so what's the point? Fan service, or only other thing I could think of, is that there are rumors that the real Arya is dead, and either Jaqen or the Waif are portraying her for some reason. But only Arya would know about the Nymeria.

I don't really hold abandoning ship entirely against Theon in this episode. First, he was giving a good account of himself in the melee while the fight was still raging, and second, by the time he's being taunted by his uncle, the ship battle has already effectively been won by Euron's men, while thirdly, Euron's channeling Victarion from the books, what with using a giant axe and wearing heavy metal armor even though it's a potential drowning risk.

Yeah, he clearly gets overcome by his PTSD after hesitating at Euron's taunt, but his hesitation makes sense, considering he's looking at a fight he's unlikely to win and a hostage situation that can go south with the flick of a wrist. It's not a brave move to dive overboard, but considering the odds against him, it may not qualify as truly cowardly either. Won't matter to his men, but still.

Oh, and I did love how Euron's ship has a variation of the Roman boarding bridge; they developed falling bridges for their boats to give them an edge in naval warfare against the greater navy of the Carthaginians.

So why did Arya tell Nymeria "It's not you"? Was Nymeria being warged?

If he'd charged, Euron would have just cut Yara's throat.

I suppose the wolf scene offers some closure to those who may have wondered whatever happened to that last pup. It at least had more purpose tha Grey Worm's.

These two will be the last reunited I assume.

And I just hope when it happens, I will not be able to stop crying when it does! I swear, I hope one or the other doesn't get reunited by dying in one or the other's arms.

Was that Yara hanging at the end, or a Sand Snake?

It definitely is Nymeria. "It's not you" probably means it's not in Nymeria's nature anymore to return North since she her home is now in the Riverlands (which are growing colder).

As for why they chose to show Nymeria, probably just closure to Arya's arc. Her trip south starting with her losing her friend Myca and then Nymeria. She was reunited with a friend (Hot Pie) and now Nymeria. There's nothing left for Arya but to return home.

Some people have speculated Nymeria's pack will have a role in the books.
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Arya has wolf dreams where she wargs into Nymeria and her pack is mentioned by many other characters as attacking travelers on the King's Road

Just how fast are the ravens on this show, anyway?

Also, I think that was one of the Sand Snakes hanged. If it was Yara, I think we'd have seen it happen in the process. A character of her prominence, the show would let us witness that death instead of it happening off-screen. Plus, the Sand Snakes use whips anyway, so maybe they were hanged with that.

Oh, can someone refresh my memory: which of these Sand Snakes is also on Iron Fist? Or was she not there?

Nymeria is the Sand Snake who was also in Iron Fist. She's the one with the whip.

And people wonder why people have reservations about these two doing an alt history story where the CSA still exists and so does slavery...

I think it's also a Sand Snake. The one draped is for sure one based on the clothing.

The two corpses on the prow of the ship were Sand Snakes. Obara was speared to the prow with her own spear, and Nymeria was hung from it with her own whip.

I hope Sansa doesn't turn into Littlefinger 2.0 and do that, but with this series you never know.

Yup, it was Nymeria (the Sand Snake) hanging. Now both Danny Rand and Colleen Wing have died on GoT.

Maybe Arya can prevent that by killing him first.
