I have to agree. Best episode of the season so far. Better than anything in season 5 too, might I add.

I have to say I miss the early version of Jamie who would just smile and respond with a witty remark. He used to not be bothered by anything anyone said. (maybe because he knew he could beat just about anyone with a sword)

Agreed. Great stuff from start to finish. Things are happening quickly now. In past seasons it may have taken Jon the whole season to get to Dany...now he does it in one episode. (jet pack)

And Sansa was walking around giving great leadership like a boss.

But seeing Bran shook her.

Well, didn't she make statements how she made sure to try and be in on all her father's and Robert's war strategies? Not to mention, Jamie is a skilled battle leader.

However, Dani is not in anyway, in my opinion, skilled at war, and neither is Tyrion. She overestimates power and size over skills, and a people that know their lands inside and out.

I was hoping when he found out that Jon went to see Daenerys, that he would go into detail and tell Sansa all he knows, especially the truth about Jon's parentage. There is no reason to hide it anymore. The one person who would have him killed was Robert, and the other is Cersei, but she clearly will want Jon dead for being a Stark or Targaryen.

almost a complete 180 of the books, though i think its a rather unfair comparison now.

Jon's face upon seeing the Dragons was priceless

i thought jon and dany was the weakest part of the episode. good, but the others were better. Jaime Fawkin Lannister. And Euron has brought a whole new energy to the series that proves he should have been brought in back in season 4 or 5.

This show has often been guilty of ignoring logic, and having things happen solely because the plot demands it. And they've leaned into it REALLY hard so far this season. It feels like they went "we need to make it seem like Cersei might actually win" and put no more logical thought into it than that.
Also it's another case of them making their protagonists incredibly stupid in order to make the antagonists seem threatening.

Also I see that Euron has borrowed Littlefinger's teleporter, where he can appear wherever the plot needs him to be whenever it needs him there.

It's gotten to the point that "flat-out stupid" would be a good way to describe the writing here.

Could it just be that Jaime's speech about "going too far to go back" was a nod from D&D to themselves and the book readers regarding ShowJaime and BookJaime different paths?

Sorry for my english

I'd say we're at a point where nine of that really matters that much. We already know who is who, what these characters are like, and moving the plot forward, even if it ilevades some logic, is important. Could it be better? Yes, but it isn't so bad at this point of the game.

I honestly think this episode had the best character moments and beats in a long time. Almost every single one of the dialogues was really good. Interactions were spot on.

the writing has been bad for a while now. it's amusing that someone is surprised it's still the same crap... been bad since GRRM basically left it after season 4

At this point it's just spectacle really, which the show does very well. The writing is basically...well it's D&D, just look at how little Greyscale ultimately meant to the narrative, or the retcon about the Iron Bank being invested in the slave trade, despite them (and all of Braavos) being founded by former slaves.

That said, Cersei herself isn't really winning here. She's got Jaime, Euron and Randyll Tarly basically doing the military heavy lifting for these conflicts.

Cersei being willing to do that is a step up for her.

Really wonder how many mental dominoes Olenna's last words knock over in Jaime's head in regards to getting him to see that Cersei's vindictiveness toward Tyrion basically doomed them all. I mean, truthfully, he should probably be there already, but this should put an added spring in his step of being over this b****'s s***.

Laughed more than I aught to at the handmaiden with Cersei's haircut. Glad her side is winning for now, as I find all three of them more watchable than much of Dany's, including Dany.

Jon and Daenery's meeting came out as I'd expect, Jon was a bit timid and Dany was a dick.

Also, I think Jamie should have been more solemn in his meeting with Olenna.

Loved this episode. I know Dany hardens up so that other powerful people don't think her weak but I was like chill out Jons a good guy. Lol at Danys line about being the last Targaryan with Jon in the room. I liked how Cersi handled Elaria and her daughter it was perfect. Euron and Jamie's "brotherly talk" was hilarious. Sansa is holding it down like a boss but she's still letting Littlefinger get to her.

As for my dear Olena

But at least she got to do some expert mind ****ing.

Again, nowhere close to the quality of seasons 1-3, but like last episode and the season 6 finale it was tolerable. Kind of kicking myself for watching this first before Twin Peaks, though.

Anyways, the biggest gripe of the episode for me is the show’s treatment of Jaime. Anyone who’s read the books knows how out-of-line his characterization has been now for years. Seeing him still so cozy with Cersei makes my blood boil. The little convo he had with Olenna at the end almost lampshaded it. At least that scene was the first good one with Jaime for awhile now. Sad to see Diana Rigg go but her character has doesn’t done anything interesting since Joffery’s death.

Other than that, not many big complaints other than the usual (lame/bad dialogue, illogical plotting, mischaracterization, teleporting). I was surprised by how quickly they rushed through the battle at Casterly Rock. It’s appearance was also a letdown, given the great renditions we’ve gotten from artists in the past (like the one in The World of Ice & Fire). I mean, it’s supposed to be three times the height of the Wall, and large enough to fit a whole port inside of it.

Cersei's body double was also unnecessary. If the actress is uncomfortable going nude then go without. An obvious body double is worse than nothing. Still can’t understand why she’ll go nude in other movies (even ones after GoT started) but has yet to appear nude on the show.

It was nice to finally see Jon and Dany interacting, though the dialogue (and Emilia’s performance) left a little to be desired. The Bran/Sansa scene was also fine, but the autistic prodigy angle the writers have taken with “The Three Eyed Raven” is almost comical. I think that could be handled better. It’s also good to see Cersei descending further into madness, but she still is more sane than I’d prefer. And it’s silly how easily Sam cured greyscale. You’d think if it was that easy to do it’d be more widespread.

Again, I’d probably give this a 6 or 7/10. Hopefully the first episode was an anomaly in terms of how terrible the writing was. I just hope the plotting isn’t as dreadful or predictable as last season. I don’t want another anticlimactic ending.
