Is this one going to be longer than a regular episode? When are the longer episodes supposed to start?

From IMDB:
This is the longest episode of the series to date, with a run time of 71 minutes, surpassing the 69 minute run time of Game of Thrones: The Winds of Winter (2016), though HBO previously announced that the following episode, Game of Thrones: Episode #7.7 (2017), will break its record by ten minutes.

Thanks. Is a standard episode 50 minutes?

Former episodes Alan Taylor has directed:
- Valar Morghulis (2012)
- The Prince of Winterfell (2012)
- The Night Lands (2012)
- The North Remembers (2012)
- Fire and Blood (2011)
- Baelor (2011)

This will be his 7th, making him the most recurring director on the series. His episodes average 9.1 on IMDB. Not bad.

Yeah he directed Ned's death, Robb's crowning, the birth of the dragons, for example.
He left after season 2 to direct Thor:The Dark World. I would say that was a mistake but that's my opinion. I'm glad he's back.

So he's been awesome on GoT and for some reason that didn't translate across to Thor.

Well I take that as poor writing and the studio(marvel) messing around and not letting him do his work. They practically admitted it by hiring waika for Ragnarok ans letting him have full control.

Thor The Dark World looked beautiful and you could sense that Got vibe in Asgard. Again, the bad writing and studio got in the director 's way. Shame

A question I have is :

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
...can a ice dead guy survive the journey to the south, assuming you can catch one without dying yourself? If the dead army brings the cold with them perhaps they need the cold to remain intact. Just something that crossed my mind.

I imagine the cold that comes with the dead comes with the White Walkers. You didn't see cold around the wights at Castle Black, but when the White Walkers went to pick up Caster's son's, the weather always changed. So I'd imagine a wight would be fine out of the cold.

That must really leave a bad taste for him. The guy is obviously very talented on the smalls screen at least.

He should be more ashamed of directing that last Terminator film.

It's crazy how they still haven't released the title for this episode.
