HAHA! Yup! If I just seen perfect 10s across the board and then played the game and it didn't meet my expectations, I don't know, but yeah, a couple of 7s humbles my expectations.

Im not sure. I think GameTrailers tends to be fairly consistent. But like you said, if you know its gonna be good, it doesnt really matter. Iv seen enough of this game to know how kick ass it'll be.

On a side note, im really finding out how much patience i have. UPS dropped my game off an hour or so ago and i decided to let my sister play it first. Man this is a looooong wait.

I don't find just one website the most reliable. I just go to Wikipedia and look at all the sites that reviews the game.

Isn't there a place like Rotten Tomatoes for videogames?

But I agree with most of everyone here, Game Informer is an awesome resource for reviews.

it's called meta critic but some would argue not to trust that since they take stuff from the three most not trusted anymore. I just take from what ever place is trusted (GI, EPD.tV/ ROTR , GT Giantbomb) and sum things up from there and make up my own mind, if I like it or not when it's in my hands. but i don't take all the reviews from one place before hand ether.

Keep in mind... I wasn't saying 8.5 is a bad score. Look at how I worded it, I knew people would flip out though.

These days, I only buy games I know I definitely want, and rent games I'm unsure of. For example, Skyrim got amazing reviews, but I wasn't sure if it was for me, so I rented it. Played it a couple of times before sending it back. Then I rented it again months later when I had more time to spare and loved it. But after getting all of the trophies, I didn't think there was a reason to buy it. Yet with Mass Effect 2, I loved it and had so much left to do that I eventually bought it.

I think for the most part, the only times reviews influence me is when I'm not expecting a game to be good, and its either much better or much worse. Lollipop Chainsaw and 007 Legends are examples of reviews putting games lower on my rent list.

yeah you always have to be careful with how you word things. I remember when show's ower of EPD.tv /ROTR had to Explain what is a good score and what is bad and he said the between is that the score of 5.0 means mediocre. 6.0 ( is ok and just passed) out of 10 are good. Anything below 5 /10 you should able to know what that means. But more importantly its the words that they used to explain the selves that matter and cost is a factor too, if it's not a well a made game. But cause some place's seem to mislead people with their words like I've seen IGN had done on occasion and X-play as done
often (Excluding one person that used to work there) for not liking a game. example

what was said by Brian Provinciano of RetroCity Rampage on what IGN did most recently by the man that made this ip

this part of the reason they are (IGN) not trusted any more.

It confuses people, the problem is those two places have made any thing below a 9 or 10 out of 10 sound like a 2 or -1 with the way they describe the negative parts of their explanations and that starts uproar cause those certain place's they (listeners) think all reviewers do the same thing, which isn't the case.

It's not the system being used, it's the reviewer. And you can tell when they don't explain them selves too well or that they've skipped key features to a game.

I stopped trusting ALL reviews after Bloodstone came out. I was really diggin the videos and stuff prior to release then IGN comes out with their 5 rating. I read the review and then left immediately for my local Gamestop. Purchased the game and then proceeded to love it. From that moment i realized i was a better judge of quality than IGN and most other sites.

I can only speak for a few IGN Editors that I've followed closely over the past year or two, and they've said that whether they rate a game poorly or not, more often than not, its not to say that the game is horrible and should be avoided, but rather a guide of whether or not you should spend money on it. They say you can ignore them, and some have even said they would rather do reviews without scores just so that people don't take it so literally based on the number.

I trust them more than others because they'll explain what they didn't like about the game, and unless its broken and doesn't work right, they won't say to avoid it completely. I don't know who reviewed Blood Stone, but I rented it, and thought it was good for what it was, but had I spent $60 for it on release, I would have been upset. And I think that's important when you're not really in a position where you can play any game you want when you want. If I can only afford one game for the next 6 months, I'm going to make sure that I get the game I think I'd enjoy the most and reviews can be helpful. With that said, I'd much rather get ACIII than Need For Speed: Most Wanted, which got a higher score.

Gamespot gave it a 8.5 as well but they still gave it a lot of praise in the written review anyway.

And... From everything I've read/seen...the WiiU version looks better, if only slightly. Ubisoft is a pretty big Nintendo supporter..they won't give the system a subpar port. Don't be a Nintendo Hater.

Edit: Wow...IGN "only" gave it an 8.5? I expect the internet to explode, lol.
What are they doing with the map on the gamepad? That sounds like it could be a cool feature.

If wii games run full 1080p and the others don't it makes sense to get current multiplats on it. That said I think graphics on PS4/720 are going to blow away what we have on these 7 year old tech machines, maybe not in year 1 but year 3 onwards. It's funny, for some reason I always seem to hear people say next gen will be about only graphics (above gameplay). Surely it will be the same as previous recent gens in the long run and be about improving all elements of a game.

I played for about an hour and so far so good. I love the combat. Its absolutely brutal and so fluid.

I have seen one bug, during one of my finishing moves the character kind of froze in mid air before going through with the kill sending the enemy flipping in an odd way.

Overall tho iv liked the new gameplay elements. Cant wait to get into the meat of this game.

Yes. Yes they are. I didn't even get the combat system down until the 4th or 5th sequence. The HUD is really different as well.
