Marvel have put together a brief salute to Reg E. Cathey, who apparently filmed Season 2 and from what I've heard played Luke's father in what ultimately was his final role. RIP.

I don't think this is a Black Panther spoiler, but I wanted to just say something.

There was a rumor that the character with Erik Killmonger in the trailer would be Nightshade, which would be a problem since Nightshade is apparently in this upcoming season of Luke Cage. I can assure everyone that she is not Nightshade. Whether that was changed to give Luke Cage room or whether she never was Nightshade, it's not a worry any more.

As a Luke Cage/Iron Fist fan who just saw Black Panther, I have to admit that I'm a little jealous. They made T'challa cool while the version of Luke Cage we got is stiff and corny.

Kinda disappointing.

Speaking of Iron Fist, I was jealous of the Wakanda city scape considering we didn't see a thing from Kun Lun.

They had to update him. Colter didn't want him to be stereotypical in anyway. Wanted him more of a role model type of guy.

Which I def feel has limited the character.

As stereotypical as some elements of Luke Cage are, Luke has been portrayed as a role model in comics.

Luke having been in a gang as a kid and turned his life around is something that multiple writers have brought up in the comics as a source of inspiration for others.

There are many different ways of being a role model. For some kids of color in underprivileged neighborhoods seeing rappers or athletes that came from the same background as them being successful is inspiring for them.

Not sure what's stereotypical about Luke Cage having a rough inner-city upbringing and being a part of a gang when he was young and putting that life behind him.

Quite cliche, but if it's part of his origins, then we should all accept it. But in today's media, everything is overly analyzed.

The second season of Marvel’s “Luke Cage” will premiere on Netflix on June 22.

Fans of the comic book hero will certainly appreciate the announcement after waiting over a year for new episodes. The first season hit the streaming site in September of 2016.

The second season will pick up after Luke Cage has cleared his name. He has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem and gained a reputation. Cage will face a new enemy and be forced to battle the blurred lines between hero and villain.

Yes! To quote myself it looks like the tone has adjusted a bit. I detected twice as much swag in this clip.

I really hope there's less Mos def and more Public Enemy.

I also like how we actually know who the villain is. We know he's up against Nightshade. Luke Cage is doing what Jessica Jones was somehow scared to do. (And we know that Daredevil is up against Kingpin and Iron Fist is fighting Steel Serpent.)

"Get paid, black man...get paid!" Yes!

I quite liked Luke's more toned down personality in the first season but certainly don't mind a Luke with more confidence/swagger.

True. Just weird to see after seeing how he's been in the past.

I think his switch up in personality is nice because he should reflect the best of us when it comes to the black community. Walking around with all of the confidence in the world, feeling bullet proof and unbreakable, like you can carry the weight of the world. Luke cage has the power to be part 2 of what black panther started this year.

Get paid black man, get paid.

I'm wondering if the ad isn't meta. As in, this is Luke making a viral video to advertise 'Hero(es) for Hire' and the swagger is a bit exaggerated on purpose.

I think this (or something similar) is likely the case.

I thought Luke was mad boring last season. So, I'm just waiting and seeing if they were just doing a 180 for the trailer or if that's how he'll actually be now. And it's possible it's a persona he goes with when dealing with criminals.

Yea now that I think about it, I'm a little worried that the brash swag levels were just for the trailer. He was a somber misery in the first season. Kinda lightened up for the Defenders but still wasn't that engaging.

We'll wait and see.
