Bravely Second Details On Moon Base Battles And Special Moves. February 26, 2015 . 11:25pm

Similar to how Bravely Default had the Norende Village StreetPass and Wi-Fi mini-game, Bravely Second will have its own version, except it takes place on Magnolia’s hometown—the moon.

Similar to how Bravely Default had the Norende Village StreetPass and Wi-Fi mini-game, Bravely Second will have its own version, except it takes place on Magnolia’s hometown—the moon. 4Gamer shares a look at the latest details.

By using Wi-Fi connection, powerful creatures known as the “Demon Kings” will invade the Moon Base. You can defeat them for a chance to get rare items, and also send them to other players through StreetPass on the Nintendo 3DS.

Here’s a look at some of the Demon Kings:

Fifth Demon King: Sea Urchin

First Demon King: Swan

Fourth Demon King: Butterfly Tail (Goldfish)

Sixth Demon King: Hakusan (White Mountain)

In order to help fight these Demon Kings, the Moon Base has weapons called the “Busterships,” which lowers their levels, making them easier to fight.

You can lower Demon King levels by bombarding them with the Busterships. By leveling these weapons, they’ll further decrease a Demon King’s level, and also shorten the time until you can fire another shot again.

While only one Bustership can be used at a time, it’ll also be possible to use Busterships from your registered friends to your advantage.

Unlike abilities that consume MP, special moves can be done by meeting certain conditions. You might not be able to use it as frequently as regular abilities, but they make up for it by being much more powerful.

As previously reported, each weapon has four special moves to them. There’s also special music to go with the moves, along with some status up effect while the track is playing. Again, you’ll further get to customize these at the Moon Base, along with additional options to edit the names of the attacks and the catchphrases that go with them.

Bravely Second is slated for release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

While Bravely Second has closer ties with the Final Fantasy series, that doesn’t stop the MMORPG, Dragon Quest X, from sharing some of its love. 4Gamer shares a peek at what you can get from playing the Bravely Second demo alongside Dragon Quest X.

As part of Square Enix’s Dragon Quest X and Bravely Second collaboration campaign, fans can get the flower Magnolia wears as head equipment for the MMORPG, by downloading the demo, then using a 3DS tool that links with Dragon Quest X on the Nintendo 3DS to get the item.

Once you set it up, the item will be sent to the post office in Dragon Quest X for you to pick up, and you can cosplay as the Demon King Buster from the moon.

Bravely Second Developers Recap The Game’s New Features. March 9, 2015 . 12:31pm

The developers share a look at Bravely Second’s new jobs, and we get to see all the new jobs and how they look on different characters.

Quote:

Bravely Second
producer Tomoya Asano and other members of the Bravely Second development team usually do livestreams to share new info on the game, but this time, they decided to do a pre-recorded session to recap the game’s features instead.

Similar to Bravely Default, Special Moves will have unique BGM playing when active, which you can listen to samples starting with Edea’s at 4:50 in the video. They then show some clips with the Special Move tracks for Yu, Magnolia, and Tiz gets a new one as well.

The developers share a look at Bravely Second’s new jobs in the Job Graphics corner at the 11:50 mark, where we get to see all the new jobs and how they look on different characters, starting with the Tomahawk, Patissier, Exorcist, Guardian, Astrologian, and Cat Master.

Next, they show the new look of the jobs from Bravely Default at the 17:38 mark, mainly to see what Magnolia and Yu look like in the costumes, starting with the Thief, Red Mage, Merchant, White Mage, Black Mage, Ranger, Valkyrie, Time Mage, and Performer.

As previously reported, Bravely Second features a new “Barter Sub-Scenario” system, where you’ll need to choose between two Asterisk Holders from Bravely Default, and their jobs. The way it works is, you’ll have Asterisk Holders arguing over something, and the one you’ll get to learn more about the story of the one you choose.

However, you’ll have to fight the character you don’t side with, and will get their Asterisk afterwards. The 24:00 mark shows us some of the Barter Sub-Scenarios, where you’ll see some familiar characters make a return for Bravely Second.

Next up, we see more on the Special Moves, along with Bravely Second’s version of Norende Village, the StreetPass and Wi-Fi mini-game, where you’ll help Magnolia’s hometown from being invaded by the “Demon Kings”. You can read more details about it in our previous report.

In Bravely Default, there were certain conditions for each weapon type to do Special Moves. This time around, they’ll let you customize the conditions to your liking. Finally, at the 36:19 mark, they show a fight against the Fourth Demon King: Butterfly Tail.

Bravely Second releases in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

Bravely Second’s New Jobs Bring Much More Variety To The RPG. March 18, 2015 . 1:03pm

Bravely Second’s new jobs like Cat Master, Patissier, Exorcist, and Guardian are among the main attractions in the new game.

Quote:

Bravely Second’
s new jobs like Cat Master, Patissier, Exorcist, and several others are one of the main things that fans are looking forward to in the upcoming sequel. Producer Tomoya Asano and assistant producer Shinji Takahashi spoke with Dengeki about how they made and balanced the new jobs.

“Whenever we start thinking about new jobs, we start out by keeping the entire game’s balance in mind,” says Asano. “We’d like to have this many attackers; there should be this number of offensive mages; let’s stick to this number for healers… these are some of the thoughts that go into the balancing. One important thing of the Cat Master in particular is how we created it to be a ‘playing around’ type [of class].”

Asano says that, while the Cat Master job was originally made just for players to have fun with, Cat Masters are actually pretty strong. They’re not too shabby when it comes to attacking, and they can also provide support when required.

Quote:

Bravely Default
had the Performer as one of the support jobs in the game, and with Astrologian playing a similar role in Bravely Second, Dengeki asks what the main difference between the two jobs is.

“The Performer had the stance of physical attacks + support. Astrologians, on the other hand, have been allotted the role of magic attacks + support,” says Takahashi. “Again, we’ve been wanting to add new magic-type classes, so we created [the Astrologian] to add to that.

“The Patissier job is a support-type that looks like a playing around-type,” explains Asano. “Rather than support, they actually specialize in weakening enemies than enhancing allies.”

Takahashi also mentions that it’s worth noting that Patissiers have really cute battle animations. While Cat Masters are that way, too, the Patissiers in particular have very detailed movements, and you’ll get a good idea of just how much fun the development team had in designing them.

Meanwhile, the Exorcist class has a unique ability called “Undo,” and as the name implies, it can “undo” whatever happened by going back several turns, which is an ability that could ruin game balance. Dengeki asks if it was difficult to balance this aspect of the game.

“Yes, it was. While we did come to a decision regarding their looks at an early stage, we were much more careful about balance adjustments,” answers Asano. “It wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that out of everything in Bravely Second, this may be the part that we put the most efforts when it comes to balance adjustments.”

“Basically, we thought of the Exorcist as a healing-type role,” adds Takahashi. “Healing-types already have the White Mage, so in order to differentiate from them, we’ve designed Exorcists to have a special way they are used.”

According to Asano, prior to adjustments, the Exorcists were actually too useful, and their ability was pretty much the ultimate one in the game; however, the team able to make the right adjustments to fix that. The producer says that it’s still a really fun job despite having been nerfed somewhat, and says to look forward to trying it out.

Finally, the Guardian sounds like a tank role, but it’s also been described as an attacker. As it turns out, it’s actually a little bit of both. According to Takahashi, Guardians take enemy hits by becoming the decoy, and will also be able to cover allies.

“Actually, the previous game didn’t really have many tank roles, so it was basically just the Knight,” says Asano. “I believe that Guardians will be tanks that are capable of also being attackers.”

“They’re excellent at physical attacks, so depending on the person playing, they could be used as attackers,” adds Takahashi.

Bravely Second will release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

In addition to all the new jobs we’ll see in Bravely Second, the game introduces a new system called the CapCap Maker, a unique plush-making mini-game. This week’s issue of Jump magazine tells us a little more.

The CapCap Maker is a new system that will let you make plushes in a mini-game during your adventures in Bravely Second.

While we still don’t know everything about it, you can make CapCap dolls that resemble monsters. Additionally, you can sell these for currency called “Cap,” which are then used to purchase BGM tracks of different kinds. The screenshot shows them buying a “Main Theme” track.

Bravely Second is slated for release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

Bravely Second Reveals Its Newest Job With The “Chariot”. March 23, 2015 . 8:57am

This week’s issue of Famitsu reveals the newest job.

Bravely Second’s new jobs are quite different this time around, with less on the traditional Final Fantasy-like jobs, and more unique ones with the likes of Cat Master, Patissier, and Exorcist. This week’s issue of Famitsu reveals the newest job.

The details come from a preview of this week’s magazine issue, so we don’t have too many details on the job, but it is said that the new Chariot job specializes in physical attacks. Its Asterisk Holder goes by the name Ku Fulin (voiced by Tetsu Inada).

Additionally, the magazine provides some more details on the new Wizard job, and its Asterisk Holder named Ayame (voiced by Akiko Yajima). More details on the Chariot job are expected to be revealed in the near future.

Bravely Second will release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

Bravely Second Shares A Look At New Dungeons And The Plush-Making Mini-Game. March 24, 2015 . 1:05pm

A new dungeon and a new mini-game in Bravely Second.
Quote:

Bravely Second
producer Tomoya Asano and the Bravely Second team previously uploaded a pre-recorded session to recap the game’s features. In the second video of the series, they show us a look at a couple new dungeons, and the plush-making mini-game.

The footage of the new dungeon part starts at the 3:35 mark, where the group is shown traveling across water to get into what appears to be a giant hole. This dungeon wasn’t in Bravely Second, and it appears to be some sort or giant shiny crater, as you can see the clouds reflected on the walls.

You’ll travel through this dungeon by trying to find a way to go to the lower areas. For demonstration purposes, Asano turned off encounters so you can get a better look at the dungeon without any time wasted on battles.

At 5:30, they share a look at another new dungeon. This place is full of cobwebs, mysterious walls that you can walk through, and invisible platforms to walk across, and other puzzle elements, so it might be a little tricky to find your way around the area.

Next, they show us a look at a new town called the Kapu Kapu Village at the 8:05 mark. The Kapu Kapu are known in the English version as Chompers, and this village has what appears to be statues of them, and an area that seems to mass-produce them. As it turns out, it’s the mini-game for making plushies, called Kapu Kapu Maker, or Chomper Maker. You can see it in action at the 10:25 mark, where the party is shown working on dolls on the top screen.

All four characters appear to have their own roles in making the Chomper Dolls, as they show Magnolia in charge of cutting, Tiz with the fluff stuffing, Edea with the easiest job of gluing the two balls, and Yu doing the coloring. Depending on how well they do, you can make rare dolls, which can be sold for more of its special currency used to purchase BGM tracks. The BGM tracks can also be used to change the music during the mini-game.

The mini-game was made to be stress-free, and can be done in sleep mode, or just to have some background music playing for you while the party makes Chomper Dolls.

Bravely Second will release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

Bravely Second’s Chariot Job Is A Weapon Master. March 26, 2015 . 3:20am

Unlike other Bravely Second jobs, the Chariot is a physical attacker that can use each and every weapon type in the game. They even have a “Triple Wield” ability that allows them to use three weapons at a time.

Square Enix announced a new job for Bravely Second, with the “Chariot” that is said to specialize in physical attacks. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine provides more details on how the job plays.

Unlike other jobs, the Chariot is a physical attacker that can use each and every weapon type in the game. They even have a “Triple Wield” ability that allows them to use three weapons at a time.

In addition to being able to use a “Throw” ability, they have another unique ability that lets Chariots temporarily increase their currently-equipped weapon ratings by three levels, making them more effective at attacking with it.

As for the Asterisk Holder for the Chariot job, his name is Cu Chulainn, and he’s a centaur, which is considered quite the rarity in their world. He carries a bunch of weapons on his back, and specializes in using them all.

Cu Chulainn works under the Grantz Empire, but rather than serving for the emperor, his loyalty goes to the Wizard Asterisk Holder Ayame. This seems to be okay even with Emperor Oblivion, which comes to show just how skilled he must be.

Bravely Second will release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

Bravely Second introduces the Chomper Maker
Published 1 min ago. 0 comments.

Two new characters and job types shown off as well.

With less than a month to go now until the game’s Japanese launch, Square Enix has pushed out another press release for Bravely Second, once again introducing two new characters and classes, as well as introducing the Chomper Maker minigame. You can catch the translated goods below.
Wizard Asterisk Holder: Ayame

Ayame is a 22 year-old Wizard Asterisk Holder affiliated with the Grantz Empire. Decked out top to bottom in black and always carrying a strange doll with her, she gives off an unsettling vibe. With Cu Chulainn as her apprentice, she goes after Yuu and his party using a new form of magic known as “Ethereal Magic.” Her expression ever-hidden behind her raven locks, Ayame seems to bear something of a deep-seated grudge against the crew, one that goes deeper than just her mission….

Chariot Asterisk Holder: Cu Chulainn

Cu Chulainn is the Chariot Asterisk Holder hailing from the Grantz Empire. His age unknown, on his back, he carries an incalculable number of weapons, while also possessing a horse’s torso for on the lower half of his body. So lengendary is his boundless fighting spirit and fury that he’s feared by the imperial troops as the “Raging Chariot.” For some reason, though, he calls not the emperor his master, but Ayame, without any hesitation whatsoever. As someone who styles himself to be something of an ancient fighter, he speaks in a manner befitting a past era, although just who he truly is and why his body is what it is are complete, utter mysteries.

Performer Asterisk Holder: Praline à la Mode

Praline is a battlefield idol known for her cute, dazzling looks in tandem with her natural singing voice, lending her quite the following. As a former member of the Black Blades in the previous game, she tried intervening in the insurrection at Eisenberg, but ultimately stepped out of the limelight for a time after facing defeat at the hands of Tiz and his group. Now, however, she’s returned to the singing business and says she’s in the midst of preparing new songs.

Pirate Asterisk Holder: Hayreddin Barbarossa

The first mate of the Eternian Black Blades, Hayredden rides aboard the SS Funky Francisca around the Pirate Ocean. This time around, though, as a man of the seas, he apparently sometimes tries to put his foot down with Praline, but….

Swordmaster Asterisk Holder: Nobutsuna Kamiizumi

Nobutsuna is the head of the Black Blades and a true master of the art of the sword, having once been Edea’s teacher. Previously, during the uprising at Eisenberg, against all odds, he managed to hold his own admirable against considerable opposition. Afterwards, though he appeared to be engaged in an international journey to further hone his skills, ostensibly in the middle of his travels, he reappears before Edea and the others alongside a cat he takes in.

New Job: Wizard

A new job that specializes in the new class of “Ethereal Magic.” Their special ability, “Addendum,” which allows them to change the effects of their magic by adding special words to their spells, is highly powerful and has its uses throughout the entirety of the game.

New Job: Chariot

Chariots are physical attack characters that can make use of most any weapon available to them. They come with three special abilities: Warmonger, which sees their affinity for their equipped weapon go up with every normal attack; Disorder, which lets them throw their weapon at all enemies; and Triple Blade, which lets them equip three weapons.

Chomper Maker

Chomper Maker is a new minigame where four characters are tasked with making Chomper plushes by cutting cloth, padding them, fastening together, and adding the final touches, with one character per job. Upon making a plush, they get stored in the packaging in the bottom screen, which can be sold for a special currency known as “Chomps.” Chomps can then be exchanged for PGs, making it in players best interests to push out as much stock as they can! The prices of each pack vary depending on things like how full a given pack is and whether it includes certain types of Chompers. Adequately fulfilling such conditions will result in a bonus being tacked on. Plus, if the value of a pack of plushes reaches specific amounts, players can unlock additional BGMs that can be be played freely as they go about their work.
Not all plushes are the same, though; produce enough of them and the chance to make rare Chompers just might arise. The type of tools used to produce them can also affect players’ output, with good quality ones increasing productivity for a limited time frame, doling out specific effects ranging from making rare Chompers to overall production time for each unit being shorted, among many others. Manufacturing tools can be bought from a special shop that takes payment in Chomps.
It’s also worth paying attention to the Fever Gauge. Every time a Chomper plus gets made, the gauge goes up and once it tops out, a character can be picked to go into Fever Mode, drastically improving their morale and, by extension, their work output.

The track used in the video is by the series’ new composer ryo (supercell) featuring chelly. The movie shows us a little more from the background of the main characters with Magnolia fighting on the moon, Edea holding what appears to be the D’s Journal, and a look at Agnes and Tiz.

Bravely Second’s New Chariot Job Lets You Equip Weapons On Your Head. April 6, 2015 . 11:00am

Series producer Tomoya Asano and other staff members shared more details and a look at the Chariot in Bravely Second

Quote:

Bravely Second’s newest job, the Chariot, is quite the weapon master, as it allows characters to use just about each weapon in the game. Series producer Tomoya Asano and other staff members shared more details and a look at the Chariot during a recent livestream.

Skip forward to the 29:00 mark of the video, where we get to first see Yu in his Chariot form. Similar to Cu Chulainn, the Asterisk Holder of the Chariot job, characters will also have the appearance of carrying several weapons on their back.

They also show Edea, Magnolia, and Tiz in their Charior forms as well. As previously mentioned, the Chariot job is a damage-dealer, and they can use all weapon types in the game. What makes them even more unique, is how they can equip a weapon on their head slot.

At the 31:05 mark, the developers show us a look at the Chariot job in battle. They have an ability that does more damage for the more HP they have, along with other familiar moves like “Throw”.

This is possible when using their “Triple Wield” ability. As you might be able to see in the video, all of their default weapon ratings are at rank C, but they have a special ability that increases their weapon rating after each attack, making them become stronger after each hit.

While the Throw ability is powerful, it can be pretty costly. For example, if you use the “Throw All” ability against four monsters, and you want to use it four times each, you’ll need to make sure you have 16 of the same weapon in your inventory; however, you won’t need to worry about losing the weapon, as they’ll return to you later, or you can get them back right away with “Weapon Recovery”.

Bravely Second is slated for release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

Bravely Second Album By ryo Includes A Code For Special Costumes. April 6, 2015 . 3:28pm

Ryo’s “Great Distance” album for the game will release next month, and it’ll include a serial code that lets you pick out of several costumes for the party members.
Quote:

Bravely Second will release later this month, on the 23rd, in Japan, but composer ryo’s “Great Distance” album for the game will release next month, and it’ll include a serial code that lets you pick out of several costumes for the party members.

The above is a look at all eight costumes for the party. As you can see, there’s even Agnes’ Bravo Bunny outfit for Edea this time around, along with Ringabel’s Japan-only Wakoku Warrior costume for Tiz.

Unfortunately, getting the Great Distance album by ryo (feat. chelly) will only give you a serial code to obtain one of the eight costumes, which you’ll get to choose, so fans will want to make their choices wisely.

The CD+Blu-Ray combo will go for 2,000 yen, and the CD+DVD pack for 1,800 yen. There will also be a CD-only version for 1,300 when the album releases in Japan on May 20, 2015.

Following the latest Chariot job, with just a couple more weeks until Bravely Second is released in Japan, Square Enix introduces two new jobs in this week’s issue of Jump magazine. [Thanks, @Kazu4281]

The scan shows Edea in her Fencer form. Fencers have the ability to increase defense and attack speed, and also use their “Stance” ability that features various Fencing skills.

As for the Bishop, they use Holy Magic to heal and revive others, and can even enhance magic, so they appear to be powerful healers with quite the useful support abilities, too.

Bravely Second will release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

Fencer:

Fencers are damage dealers that use “Stances” to perform various abilities with their swords.

“Bison Horn” is a Stance that increases defense, while the “Falcon Claw” stance increases speed and allows them to do four consecutive attacks.

Bishop:

Bishops are one of the new jobs, and they use “Holy Magic” as part of their role as a healer.

“Heal” is the Bishop’s standard Cure-like ability, and they also have new magic with different effects like the “Divine Night” which turns damage into HP recovery during Defaults.

They also have the job trait called “Reiteration” that increases the spells potency whenever you use it twice.

'If sales are good enough, I'll submit a proposal.'

Planning for Bravely Third, the potential sequel to Bravely Second, is already underway, according to producer Tomoya Asano.

“It might make you say ‘What?!’ given the timing, but I already have the concept for Bravely Third in me,” Asano told the latest issue of Famitsu. “If sales for [Bravely Second] are good enough, I’m planning to immediately submit a proposal. Please give me your support!”

Outside of this, assistant producer Shinji Takahashi confirmed that Bravely Second, which is due out this Thursday in Japan, has a main story of about 50 hours, but can last over 100 hours if you level up all your jobs and go for every sub-event.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

Bravely Series Producer Already Has Ideas For Bravely Third. April 21, 2015 . 5:00am

“I already have some ideas for Bravely Third in my head,” says producer Tomoya Asano.

Quote:

Prior to the release of Bravely Default: For the Sequel (simply Bravely Default in the West), Square Enix trademarked Bravely Second and Bravely Third. Now that the second title of the series will release in Japan soon, producer Tomoya Asano and Shinji Takahashi discussed the franchise in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Hachima]

During the interview, Famitsu asks the Bravely Second producers to share their thoughts on the game.

“I feel like there’s been more of a response to [Bravely Second] than the previous game,” Takahashi replies. Meanwhile, Asano stated, “We’ve packed it with all the ideas we can think of for its story and system.”

The two are then asked about how long it took them to clear the game from start to end. Asano says that it took him about 70 hours while loosely going through all of the game’s elements.

Takahashi explains, however, that it takes about 50 hours to do get through just the main story alone, but if you want to level all the jobs and check out sub-scenarios, it can easily go over 100 hours.

Famitsu then asks for a few words on the future of the series.

“I don’t know what to say about that at this time [with Bravely Second releasing soon] but I already have some ideas for Bravely Third in my head,” Asano replies. “If Bravely Second sells well, I plan on presenting plans for it right away. Thank you for your continued support.”

Bravely Second will release in Japan on April 23, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.

<< How to read and understand sales

Last week, Square Enix released Bravely Second in Japan and the game sold 100,047 copies in its first week. That’s a far lower debut than Bravely Default, which sold 141,529 copies at launch.

While the game has seen a slower start than Bravely Default, Japanese retail chain Tsutaya say they expect sales to remain strong through Golden Week, which should help offset the slow start to some extent.

As for why Bravely Second has seen a slower start than its predecessor… this is just a personal opinion, but judging by everything we’ve seen thus far, Second doesn’t really seem to do anything new that helps set it apart from Bravely Default. The game appears to be fairly iterative, and while that’s great for folks that liked Default and wanted more, it doesn’t help attract wider audiences.

And with that, the top-20 software sales chart for last week is as follows:

Bravely Second’s StreetPass Event In Japan Has Costumes As Rewards. April 30, 2015 . 1:00am

Bravely Second
recently released in Japan, and it’s getting a special StreetPass event throughout different parts of Japan that allows players to get various costumes for Edea, Magnolia, and Yu. Famitsu shares a look at the limited time costumes.

The above costumes are unique to different StreetPass locations in three different cities of Japan. The Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Akiba shop in Tokyo has Edea’s, Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Umeda in Osaka for Magnolia’s and Futaba Tosho TERA Wonder City Store at Nagoya has Yu’s.

Players will need to have gotten to a certain point early in Bravely Second in order to partake in this event. Once they StreetPass the areas mentions, they’ll encounter various forms of the Swordmaster Asterisk Holder Kamiizumi, or “StreetPassizumi”.

Depending on where the players get the StreetPass from to get costumes like Yu’s Onion Knight outfit, they’ll encounter different forms of the Swordmaster, such as “StreetPassizumikyo” from Tokyo, “StreetPassizumisaka” from Osaka, and “StreetPassizumiya” from Nagoya.

While players won’t be able to summon friends to fight against the StreetPassizumi, they say that he’s set to be weaker than average, and will scale to the level of the player, so even those that are at an early stage can still get the costumes.

Bravely Second is currently available in Japan for Nintendo 3DS. Square Enix have yet to announce the game for the West, but series producer Tomoya Asano recently mentioned that he already has ideas for a Bravely Third.

The Next Bravely Game Might Be A Completely New Title. May 26, 2015 . 12:31pm

Oh, and Asano just confirmed once more that Bravely Second is coming to the West.

Quote:

Bravely series producer Tomoya Asano recently revealed that he already has ideas for a Bravely Third, but he has now mentioned in an interview with Gamer that the next title might not necessarily be a sequel to Bravely Default and Bravely Second.

During the interview, Asano answered a few questions that some fans have been wondering about. When asked about whether Bravely Second will get any additional scenarios via DLC, he said that they have plans for patches, but the team hasn’t thought of anything as far as additional story content goes.

Bravely Default received an enhanced version in Japan titled Bravely Default: For the Sequel, which ended up being the version we got in the West, after Square Enix made several fixes and additions to the game. According to Asano, they have no plans for a For the Sequel version for Bravely Second, or anything of the sort. He states that, at the moment, they’re only thinking about the Western version of Bravely Second.

Next, Gamer asks if the Bravely developers could share a little more on what we can expect to see next from the series.

“Hmm… yes, we’re currently thinking about whether a sequel would be more appropriate or if a completely new title would be more appropriate,” Asano replies. “This is currently a hot topic among [the development team].”

“We’re thinking about all kinds of things, like what kind of things are requested, and getting feedback from fans,” added assistant producer Shinji Takahashi.

Incoming localization announcement?

Square Enix has trademarked “Bravely Second” in Europe.
The 3DS sequel to Bravely Default launched in Japan last month. It opened to 100,000 sales and has since topped 138,000.
Given the trademark, which was filed today, is so close to next month’s E3, it’s possible we’ll hear about a western release at the expo. If so, it will likely show at either Nintendo’s Digital Event or at Square Enix’s press conference. Both are scheduled for June 16.
