This really makes too much sense really. A lot more sense than Zelda Warriors lol. Weird that it's launching for New 3DS along with the Switch.

As to why they are launching for both the 3Ds and Switch. They need those software sales.

Yeah, I'm suspecting the rumored Pokemon Stars will be for both. But hey, this is a second game for New 3DS only.

Really curious to see just how many characters the cram in this. And here's hoping for Hyrule Warriors 2.

Fire Emblem On Switch Might Be “Completely Different” From The Portable Games. May 29, 2017 . 6:00am

Fire Emblem developers in Hitoshi Yamagami and Kenta Nakanishi from Nintendo recently shared their thoughts on seeing Fire Emblem as a portable series, and a little teaser on what we can expect from it on Switch.

Fire Emblem developers in Hitoshi Yamagami and Kenta Nakanishi from Nintendo recently spoke with French gaming site, JeuxVideo, about their thoughts on seeing Fire Emblem as a portable series, and a little teaser on what we can expect from it on Switch.

Do you primarily consider Fire Emblem a portable series? It’s been ten years since its last home console release, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, and while we’re getting Fire Emblem for Nintendo Switch next year, a lot of players were hoping to get an installment on Wii U. Do you feel that the Wii U wasn’t a good fit for a series like Fire Emblem or were there other reasons for concentrating on the 3DS?
\

Hitoshi Yamagami: The Fire Emblem series has a long history of games on home console. During our development on portable console, we felt that we’ve reached the peak of our work on Nintendo 3DS. Looking back, we don’t think of it as a series that must be portable first. We hope to have other opportunities to make games on home console in the future.

Kenta Nakanishi: As stated previously, we’re currently working on a Fire Emblem for Nintendo Switch. For this title made for home console, we should be able to breathe life into characters like never before, and show you a completely different Fire Emblem.

Fire Emblem‘s Nintendo Switch title is expected to release in 2018.

]\Fire Emblem Warriors Will Mostly Feature Heroes From Shadow Dragon, Awakening, And Fates. May 30, 2017 . 4:30am

New Fire Emblem Warriors information surfaced in this week’s Famitsu, with info on some characters, how its development started, and its many familiar elements from the Fire Emblem series.

Nintendo and Koei Tecmo revealed more information on Fire Emblem Warriors, the upcoming action game by Team Ninja for Nintendo Switch and 3DS, in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Hachima.]

Protagonists
  • Sion (CV: Yuma Uchida)
  • Lian (CV: Maaya Uchida)

The two are twins, and it’s also pretty cool to see they got Yuma Uchida and his older sister Maaya to voice the siblings. It appears as though they use a shield and sword as their main weapons.

Guest Characters
  • Marth (CV: Hikaru Midorikawa) from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
  • Chrom (CV: Tomokazu Sugita) from Fire Emblem Awakening

Original Characters
  • Darius (CV: Takuya Satou)
  • Yuana (CV: Yuka Nagayoshi)

Here are highlights from an interview with the developers:
  • The game’s development started prior to Famitsu’s Musou collaboration survey.
  • The first thing that was decided on was to “make a Musou that is fun for Fire Emblem fans.”
  • Fire Emblem’s basic elements such as the weapon triangle, strategic elements, and unit classes will be in the game.
  • It’ll be fully-voiced and have plenty of lines from all the characters. Intelligent Systems is supervising for character settings and such.
  • Characters appearing will mostly be from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Fire Emblem Awakening, and Fire Emblem Fates. It won’t be the kind of game where all the main characters from the entire series get together.
  • The reason for this is because if you put a bunch of protagonists together then it’ll be nothing but sword-wielding characters.
  • Since there’s an element to the game that involves switching around characters, they hope to have you play with all kinds of weapons and classes.
  • The number of participating characters ended up being the most of any other Musou collaboration title’s first entry.
  • You’ll get to play as archers and magic-type characters.
  • While more information about the world setting can’t be shared for now, they say that it’ll go something along the lines of being called forth by a “Shield of Fire” in this world and going beyond space and time.
  • There will be elements that will for example make your Archer do extra damage while attacking a Pegasus Knight.
  • Cavaliers and other horse-mounted units will always fight on a mount. They’re designing such classes to keep their high-mobility appeal.
  • As for support conversations, there will be something similar called the “Bond Conversation.” They already have an enormous amount of text prepared for the game, which will feature conversations ranging from serious to silly.
  • There won’t be a marriage system. Think of it as characters just becoming friends, as there won’t be any romantic developments.

The information comes from the official Japanese Twitter account for Fire Emblem Warriors. Your guess is as good as ours as to what we can expect to see. Perhaps it may have something to do with a male Robin and Lissa that appeared to have leaked last week.

Fire Emblem Warriors Shows A Manly Support Conversation Between Chrom And Ryoma. July 26, 2017 . 5:00am

Fire Emblem Warriors is a Musou-style game, but it offers several features from the Fire Emblem series like the Weapon Triangle as well as Support Conversations. Here’s one with Chrom and Ryoma.

The first video features Chrom (CV: Tomokazu Sugita) and Ryoma (CV: Yuichi Nakamura):

Ryoma: After a number of spars, I’m starting to get a better read on your swordplay.
Ryoma: We’ve been even up until now, but I might beat you next time.
Chrom: What? As if it’d go that way. The same goes for myself, as my body just about got used to the Hoshidan-style swordsmanship.
Chrom: The unfamiliar stance was bewildering at first, but I now have several ways to handle it.
Ryoma: So you say! I’ve already seen through the habits of your Ylissian swordsmanship.

Below is an earlier video showing a Support Conversation between Chrom (CV: Tomokazu Sugita) and Marth (Hikaru Midorikawa):
Chrom: You helped me out back there. I can’t help but jump the gun when it comes to battle.
Chrom: On the other hand, Marth, you’re always moving while keeping a close eye on your allies.
Marth: It’s nothing—I just cannot sit idly and watch my brother-in-arms fall.
Marth: And Chrom, you’re always so brave out there in the battlefield. just like the founder of Altea, King Anri, himself.
Chrom: King Anri…?

Xander: Haha, it looks like you’re having fun, Corrin. Are you that curious about birds and other living things?

Corrin: Yes! There are many things I haven’t seen before. And… it may not appropriate to say so in this situation, but I’m a little happy.

A look at the latest confirmed playable characters.

Koei Tecmo has updated the official Japanese website for Fire Emblem Warriorswith information and screenshots of recently announced playable

characters Robin (Female) and Cordelia.

Get the details below.
? Characters
Robin (Female) (voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro)
She lost her memory and was rescued by the Shepherds when lying unconscious, before joining their cause.
Cordelia (voiced by Eimi Okada)
A member of the Halidom of Ylisse’s Pegasus Knights. She links up with Chrom and fights as part of his army. She is a genius who can handle almost anything flawlessly.
? Systems
In addition to the exhilarating action of the Warriors series, Fire Emblem Warriors combines the familiar tactical elements of the Fire Emblem series and a bond system.
Weapons Triangle
—Stun Gauge
Fighting with an advantage weapon will increase the damage dealt to the enemy, as well as lower their golden Stun Gauge.
—Critical Hit
By lowering the Stun Gauge, you can deal great damage with a “Critical Hit.” If you use an advantage weapon, its power will be even greater.
Weapon Efficacy
Attack specific enemies with weapons of particular efficacy to deal tremendous damage.

Movement
—Mount Characters
Great Knight and Pegasus Knight characters can move around quickly on horseback. They also have exciting attacks that make use of riding and flying.

—Flying Routes
Depending on the map, there may be areas that can only be passed with a flight unit. Use these to your advantage to more efficiently progress.
Tactics: Instruction
The heroes’ advance route can always be changed during the course of the battle. Make adjustments based on the situation to better advance on the battlefield.
Tactics: Leave it To Them
You can set actions for when you are not providing instruction or for after they have achieved their instructions.

Tactics: Character Change
You can switch between four characters on the battlefield at any time.

Bonds: Bond System

By fighting alongside heroes, your bonds with them will depen. If you level up, you may receive reards and be able to see bond conversations.

Bonds: Lost

Heroes injured on the battlefield will be lost and cannot be used in the battles that follow, so caution is necessary.

Fire Emblem Warriors releases next month in Japan but we’re seeing early-impressions from the media, with plenty of new screenshots and gameplay highlights and some interesting notes.

Here are a bunch of screenshots and highlights from 4Gamer who got to spend about two hours playing an in-development build of the game.

They mostly played as the protagonist Rowan but got to try out a little his sister, and the other protagonist, Lianna. Both characters are well-suited for beginners as they are easy to control, but it is noted that Lianna felt a little more nimble in movement.

You can change between playable characters by pressing up and down on the D-pad.

Fighting involves a combination of weak and strong attacks as well as special attacks such as the “Musou Attack” and “Awakening” features.

While those are more common to the Musou-style games, there are plenty of Fire Emblem elements added to the mix.

A character equipped with a staff can heal allies while in a pinch.

You can fill up your “Musou Gauge” to pull off the “Musou Attack.”

The Weapon Triangle system is said to give a slight advantage or penalty depending on the type of weapon you use against enemies. Since Rowan uses a sword, the struggle was easy to notice when going up against a group of spear-wielding enemies. In these situations, it is best to switch to a hero with an axe.

Strengths and weaknesses go beyond weapons, too. For example, bow units do additional damage against Pegasus Knight heroes, Knight units take more damage against Armorslayers, and so on. This is called “Special Effectiveness,” and it deals more damage than having the upper hand in a Weapon Triangle fight. They say so much so, that you can take out mid-bosses in just a few hits.

That said, be careful not to go around flying as a Pegasus Knight when the place is swarming with archers. You can do so by checking the map to see what kind of enemy units await.

You can also have the map display icons that tell you whether the enemies are strong or weak against your current hero. The game adds some of Fire Emblem strategic elements by having you observe the map and plan accordingly.

Fire Emblem Warriors offers a parameter for your “Support.” When taking certain actions with an ally, you’ll see a heart symbol appear, indicating a deepening of their Support level. By increasing the parameter, you’ll receive rewards and get to watch special Support Conversations.

That’s not all, when characters are well-bonded, you’ll see them heal each other, perform tag team battle actions called “Double” that allows you to pair up with another character. When paired, you have a frontline character and a backline character. So for example you have Chrom in the frontline and Lissa in the backline as a pair. The backline character can boost the stats of the frontline character, and the two can even perform a special “Dual Arts” attack together.

We’ve been wondering how the familiar permadeath feature works in Fire Emblem Warriors, and we now have a better idea. Basically, when playing in Classic Mode and a character’s HP reaches 0 they become “wounded” and get a special cut scene to indicate that they can no longer be used in battle. Characters can also get “wounded” in Casual Mode, but the difference here is that they return and can be redeployed afterwards.

Again, players who are going with Classic Mode can change it to Casual Mode if they feel like it is a little too difficult for their liking; however, you won’t be able to do the reverse the option, meaning if you go Casual Mode that’s what you’re stuck with. Players who are uncertain of their skills can get plenty of time early in the game to see what they feel comfortable with, as the opening stages are mostly a big practice for what’s ahead.

The 4Gamer player noted that he accidentally let Frederick die and he definitely felt the struggle of losing the only horse-mounted unit in the early game.

4Gamer concludes their impression by saying there was a lot of exciting moments seeing Fire Emblem characters meeting other characters from the series on the battlefield. The interaction is always a big thing to look forward to for fans of the series. With the battle flow changing in real-time, they say that it almost feels like an RTS game at times when working with the map, so fans who prefer a more strategic approach than what your average hack-and-slash offers will be pleased. Fire Emblem Warriors does a good job at combining the Fire Emblem series’ strategic strength along with the characteristic action you’d expect from a Musou title, making it an enjoyable game for both Fire Emblem and Warriors fans.

Fire Emblem Warriors launches on Nintendo Switch and New Nintendo 3DS in Japan on September 28, and in Fall 2017 in the West.
