I wonder if standards are changing. I mean, whereas in the past a mallet to the head or a stick of dynamite in the mouth was considered fun and harmless cartoon antics, maybe the ratings boards are taking things like that more seriously now, worried that kids might try to emulate that violence thinking they can't be hurt or hurt other kids. Remember, there was a time when characters smoked and used guns in cartoons as well.

Me too. It's my most anticipated game for the year. I have fun with games like Splatoon and Arms. But open world games just can't be beaten in my opinion. I love the whole exploration process.

Super Mario Odyssey’s Producer On Miyamoto’s Involvement In The Game And The Chances Of A Sequel. August 27, 2017 . 3:30pm

In a new interview, producer Yoshiaki Koizumi discusses Shigeru Miyamoto’s level of involvem

The Verge recently spoke to Super Mario Odyssey’s producer Yoshiaki Koizumi about the upcoming Switch title. In the interview, Koizumi discussed Shigeru Miyamoto’s level of involvement and influence with the game, as well as the possibility of Odyssey getting a sequel within the Switch’s lifetime.

When asked about Miyamoto’s degree of involvement with the game, Koizumi had this to say:
“The involvement of Mr. Miyamoto in this project is pretty similar to previous projects as well, in that we will go to him and say “this is the kind of game we want to make, this is what we’re hoping to achieve,” and he will look at it and give his feedback and advice and ideas. In terms of actually how much of his advice we take on, we have a degree of flexibility and a degree of autonomy. And for Super Mario Odyssey, actually I’d say he left us to our own devices quite a lot.”

When it comes to whether Odyssey will be getting a sequel in the future, Koizumi said the following:
“I’m obviously considering lots of things for the future. In terms of Super Mario Odyssey and whether there would be a sequel, the first game hasn’t even come out yet so it’s very tough to say at this stage whether there would be a sequel or not. I’m first and foremost just hoping that Super Mario Odyssey is a success. And secondly, yeah, with the Nintendo Switch lifecycle again it’s very early — who knows how things will turn out? As you say, in the past maybe there’s been one 3D title per hardware generation on average, but I wouldn’t say that that’s a hard-and-fast rule that would have to be adhered to.”

Super Mario Odyssey will release for the Nintendo Switch on October 27th, 2017.

Mario and Cappy make a great team!

A new trailer for Super Mario Odyssey has been released today, and this time, we get to see Mario's new sentient hat, Cappy, in action! We know Cappy has the ability to 'capture' Mario's enemies to morph him into them. A strange power indeed, but one that fans have already gravitated to in a Mario 64 mod.
The new trailer below focuses on just how creative his new powers are. Take a look! There's another new feature in the trailer as well, let's see if you can spot it.

We're not exactly sure what's being said in the trailer, but we can gather context, and more importantly, we can see what Cappy is capable of. An interesting detail we noticed was that when Peach gets captured, her tiara has eyes just like Cappy. Is it actually Cappy, or is it just another eyeballed headpiece?
The trailer shows off various things Cappy can turn Mario into and tackle different obstacles. But did you notice the other feature amidst the Japanese narration? Multiplayer!
We're not sure if this is the extent of multiplayer, but it seems a second player can join in Super Mario Odyssey and play exclusively as Cappy. It seems like the second player abilities in Super Mario Galaxy to shoot star bits, but perhaps with a bit more to do. They only talked about it briefly, so hopefully, Nintendo has more to share.
Super Mario Odyssey launches exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on October 27.

Can't wait to pick this up at midnight. This will be my first 3D Mario game since Super Mario Galaxy. However, between this, South Park: FBW, WWE 2K18, Fire Emblem Warriors and Battlefront 2, the past few weeks has been a perpetual wallet hell for me.
