A more extreme example of this practice are Daniel Craig's James Bond movies. Despite rebooting the story back to the beginning with zero narrative ties to any of its predecessors, Casino Royale is more often marketed and described as the 21st James Bond movie, as opposed to the first of a new series or a remake of the old Casino Royale. P.S.: What Marvel-produced movie did the 'Star Wars: Whatever' approach as you described when not directly continuing a movie franchise yet still having it based in the same continuity? I want it to start with the Falcon being pursued by some huge ass ship that comes out of nowhere, and then someone get's captured (but we don't see who - obviously it's Han though). Kind of like an homage to Star Wars.
Only when they try to save him by the second act, he dies anyways, leaving the band devastated and hopeless by the end of the second act, leaving for an emotional third act. The good guys should just BARELY win, even though they lost Han. The republic having an army of Jedi is what saved them from the onslaught of the invaders (a faction of Mandalorians who helped coordinate with a grouping of species from another Galaxy).

Interesting read:
http://screenrant.com/star-wars-episodes-7-9-trilogy/ But things are always subject to change. I'm super excited for Episode 7. Original trilogy is bad ass. The prequels are a hot mess. I have no knowledge of the expanded universe. And the little exposure I have to the Old Republic is from the original Knights of The Old Republic games (which I loved). |

But as for the movies, I'm tempted to say "don't look at anything Lucas gives you, Don't dogmatically stick to EU canon, don't pick up the story immediately after and go through what each Ewok went through after the Empire fell." I might be flexible on that first point. Knowing which parts to trim out of Lucas' ideas is probably what made the OT what it is. |

I could never get into The Sith Lords---I only know the story from watching cutscenes on youtube and reading guides online...honestly, I make it off the opening level and lose interest---every time, I still haven't completed it...

The Sith Lords was released uncompleted. There is a patch for the PC version that fixed it up and made it into a much more enjoyable game. The xbox version is a broken mess tho.

Yeah, I still need to get around to playing the patched PC version. Am I the only person who loved Kreia? Even though I had suspicion from the very beginning she was a Sith Lord.

Where: Space, with the Millennium Falcon flying into a ship, and Han and Chewbacca going on a mission to blow it up.
When: 32-47 after ROTJ. I'm glad the Clone Palpatine/Vader/Evil Leia/Evil Luke shippers aren't in charge of writing the scripts. |

Being as the PT was mostly based on Anakin's story, and the OT being Luke's story for the most part, I would hope the Sequel Trilogy is based on Luke's son/daughter's story. Although I would have loved it if the Prequel's would have been Obi Wan's story, so then this new trilogy could be a totally new character's story (with the over arcing story of the three trilogies being that of Anakin's story.)

Rumors of a female character would point to the possibility of Jaina Solo. Especially since her bros are dead. Not that is anything other than pure speculation on my part.
