Event Horizon is really messed up and disturbing, but I kind of like it. It's an interesting concept, and Sam Neill was good in it.

I always thought he looked creepy anyway, so I'm surprised he hasn't played more sinister roles.

I agree, it was disturbing... and the concept was interesting kind of a science meets hell by accident. Sam has had a few creepy roles in his time "omen" for example, but I agree he could use a few more.

Yeah I would recommend checking it out!

Im not trying to stay on the EQUILIBRIUM kick, but I wanted to see if any of you guys agree or is "unpopular"

I truly feel that EQUILIBRIUM is the best acting job that Bale has done. How do you play a guy that shows no emotion + has never had any, only to wake up and feel everything. On top of that he cannot show emotion when he wakes up in a society that is trained to find people who do, and eradicate them. That is a hell of a role to pull off and make work!

Again,, this is a highly underrated movie IMO for more reasons then one. It kinda got pawned off as a B flick... Have you seen half the garbage that comes out in theaters now?

I don't know. I think for his best acting performance, I may have to go with the Academy and say The Fighter. He was amazing in that. Equilibrium is, in my opinion, his most badass. My favorite, however, is still American Psycho.

I want Ridley Scott to make a sequel to his Robin Hood.

It didn't impress me. Rather have one to Blade Runner.

Re: Christian Bale

Equilibrium was good, but I prefer Harsh Times or The Machinist. He was solid in those flicks.

Re: Signs

I didn't mind the "dumbness" of the aliens. As with PLENTY of alien invasion films, the main reason for the aliens being defeated was their arrogance in underestimating that mankind would actually put up a fight instead of allowing to be conquered.

Yeah, he was by far the best in The Fighter.

I always felt Bale struggled to really emote much as an actor - and thusly always took on emotionally distant or dysfunctional characters. But The Fighter was one movie where he actually displayed a great amount of emotion, while still playing an energetic - and almost comical - character.

"That's my brother. Pride of Lowell." Wonderfully acted.

I was watching a Bret Easton Ellis interview the other day and he was saying he had hoped for a different performance by Bale at some point. Can't remember exactly what he said, but it was something like humourless or joyless.

I do agree he was exceptional in The Fighter. That, Psycho, and Prestige are my favourites of his.

This probably isn't unpopular, but Midnight in Paris is the best movie out of the three (though not by far) and it has the most interesting take on nostalgia.

That's a good assessment. My favorite of Bale's dysfunctional performances is Rescue Dawn; what a weird, fascinating character.

Related Opinion: Although American Psycho is a good movie with a strong theme, the satire starts to feel like more of the same in the last half hour or so.

I didn't think it was that great either but a sequel could improve on a lot of things.

I'm on the fence about another Blade Runner.

I'm not going to argue about the sequels. I like them, for the most part. But Raiders of the Lost Ark is a classic.

Tom Hardy's Bane is the second best Bat-movie villain.

I'd say it's just short of a tie.

Just barely short.

DDL's acting in Gangs of New York is better than in TWBB.

Julian Glover's performance in The Last Crusade is underrated. His character was just dastardly!

I agree. I'd rank him below Heath's Joker, but just above Jack's Joker.

I thought Bane was a much better character than the joker, seeing as how the joker was more of a walking macguffin.

Aside from the fighting, I thought Bane was one of the weakest characters in the trilogy.

Seeing Iron Man 2 for the first time since the theater, I will now say confidently Jackson is a horrible Nick Fury. I think he's just trying to keep up with RDJ.

Don Cheadle was an even lousier Jim Rhodes than Terrence Howard was. I think Howard wasn't sure what to do with the character, so he just picked a way and went with it. Cheadle looks more like he's playing the Iron Man 2 video game with his kids, showin the slightest bit of interest for the children, but ultimately not really caring.
