Yes, everyone does have their individual views. I thought that was what this thread was about.

Yes the thread is for individual views,, i was just trying to understand what your view even is.. Never heard somebody say " I didnt like it, it was good but not great",, then follow that up with "hate a good movie". Maybe its just me but I cant make sense what that even means..

Anyways I give up, no big deal.. lets move on

I think that you can acklowledge that a movie is good, but you don't have to necessarily like it. You can appreciate what has been made, but not because of that you have to love it.

Oh look, someone gets it. Just like I don't like Titanic or most drama or horror but can see their merits.

I can certainly see someone saying its a well made movie, its just not for me or my kind of movie. But in your case,I dont know if I buy into it Chicken..

Its Judge Dredd,, I dont really think there are any questions about what kind of movie it is. My point being if thats the case, and you already have a pre-determined view...Why even bother going to see it in a theater?

Keep in mind im just looking at it from your view,, for example.. If i dont like the horror genre, why would I go to a theater to see a genre I dont like,, only later to tell what good merits it may have, although I dont like horror?

If thats the case, it feels like a pre-determined judgment. Keep in mind I pose no argument..just a conversation.. This can stop at anytime if you feel no need to explain..No biggie

My girlfriend plays Zelda. It's not my cup of tea, but I can still appreciate that it's a good game.

I'm not big on the horror genre either, but I can still appreciate that there are 'good' horror films. My lack of interest, or even lack of enjoyment, doesn't negate the fact that certain films have the qualities that make up a good horror (or whatever genre) movie.

I hope I've made it a little clearer...or just confused you more. I have a pretty good car-based analogy too, but the above should do it.

I went to see an action movie, it was a cartoon for all I was concerned. It was more concerned with looking cool and using it's slow mo gimmick. It certainly is an action movie. Other movies have used CGI and fake blood and all that and didn't come across as badly as Dredd. No I didn't have a predetermined judgment, why would I have wasted my money then?

It's not hard to understand that I see what they did and it's not for me. It's no Rambo, it's no Expendables, it wasn't even The Raid. All the violence didn't ring true at all and was more concerned with looking good.

Great! Although I am sad I didn't get to use my car analogy.

Anyway, is it an unpopular opinion that 3D adds nothing of value to films? I'll always pick 2D over 3D. It does nothing for me at all. I'm much more a story focused film goer than a visual one, as long as I can tell what's going on I'm usually happy. I'm assuming this opinion is in the minority though, because 3D still seems to be popular.

I don't think it helps that I wear glasses either. Wearing 3D glasses over my regular glasses is kind of a hassle, does anyone else have that issue?

Its funny you want to use a car analogy.. I used a car analogy in another thread for Chickens previous comment regarding Dredd.

It was "I like car races, i just hate when they go fast, I hope they have more car races".

But you still want a sequel right ChickenScratch? I agree im not the biggest fan of 3D either

Really, in hindsight I don't care. I was not moved by it except by the sameness of every action scene (slow mo, cgi blood splash across the screen). If they make it cool, if they don't that's cool too.

Sequels that mere start seconds after the original ends really annoy me.
Maybe it's because that sort of thing makes even the most mainstream followups feel oddly second-rate, I dunno...

My only issue with 3D is when it doesn't add anything to the film and you can tell there a a bunch of unnecessary shots just for 3D. Some films though are really enhanced by the 3D experience. Avatar is one of the reasons I bought a 3D TV for my home... It's a just a shame I didn't buy a Panasonic 3D TV because that's the only way you can get Avatar on 3D.

I'm ok with that but when they do a run down of the previous films it becomes annoying. I think the best sequel tie-in would have to be Bourne Ultimatum to Bourne Supremacy.

Oh, totally. Rundown's make movies feel even more like episodes of a tv show.

Hehe! Knew it was only a matter of time before someone mentioned BTTF.

That's one of the very rare exceptions.

I see your point, but I think it depends on the films and how they are constructed. If the story needs to start right after it left off, then that's the way it has to be.

Closest thing to this I know of Back to the Future 3

Somewhat related to the discussion over in the Die Hard 5 thread , I really like Die Hard 2. It gets a bad rep, even Bruce Willis has said it wasn't all that grand. I like it at least as much as 3.

It's Die Hard, what's not to like? Bruce is one third of the holy trinity of butt kicking along with Arnold and Sly. In my mind any movie staring these guys is two thumbs up automatically.
