Matt Gerald would of been s good Whirlwind if he wasn't already playing Gladiator on Daredevil.

M.O.D.O.K or bust. plus, Monica Rappaccini should definitely be in on that action. she could give Hope (or any of them really) a decent fight. plus she's a good way to introduce the new A.I.M; 100% more genocidal.
MODOK is more of a general Avengers villain. When Phase 4 comes around, Marvel won't have Kang. MODOK will be the biggest name out there and I really feel that such a big villain needs to be used in an ensemble film.

I'm all for Egghead as the big bad and either Whirlwind or Beetle as the heavy so we can get some interesting set pieces. We can't just have a mastermind. We need a villain who can be a physical threat.

It's Whirlwind.

This is Gladiator, and I'm unsure if Marvel Studios has the rights to use him.

Wrong.

This is Gladiator:

And Marvel do have the rights to use him. They've already used Melvin Potter in the DD Netflix series and hinted at the costume.

What you've posted is a completely different Gladiator often associated with the X-Men or Fantastic Four.

But since we were already talking about Gladiator in Daredevil, that's obviously not him. It even says in that entry you posted "Gladiator (Kallark)".

Isn't the actor on the left there the same guy who played Mevlin Potter, though?

Interesting -I didn't know there were two characters of the same name. Kallark is the only one I really know. Although now that you mention his name, wasn't he with (or controlled by?) Purple Man at some point? I mean Potter, not Kallark.

I wish he had made the cut. he was supposed to be in the first movie. my new casting pick for Whirlwind is Matt Schulze; a Gerald-level character actor who mostly plays villains and/or tough guys. I could see him capturing Dave's creepy stalker vibe. I would have him be muscle for A.I.M. and his "powers" would be a product of their science; some kind of interesting looking wearable flight harness/wind generator. it'd be detachable on the action figure. they can't make him a mutant. and I don't want to go back to the Inhuman well. I'd just say that A.I.M altered his physiology to improve his balance, bone density, prevent him getting vertigo, motion sickness, etc. maybe there's something over his eyes that acts as an oculus rift.

yes, he has attacked Daredevil while under Purple Man's control. he was often paired with other low-level Daredevil villains (like Leapfrog and Stilt-Man).

I wouldn't say he was often paired with them. In fact, I don't remember that at all. He was paired with the Beetle and also with Death Stalker, who would easily fit into the Netflix series if they allowed it to go slightly supernatural.

He was an early Iron Man villain too.

huh? he first paired up with Masked Marauder. he worked for the Maggia. then he became one of the Emissaries of Evil; alongside stiltman and matador. he also paired with death-stalker; another daredevil villain. he has worked with Madame Masque for a story. but he hasn't tangled with Iron Man enough to qualify as one of his rogues, imo.

http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix4/gladiatorpotter.htm

^there's a good summary of his appearances at that link. he was in like 2 issues of Iron Man. the rest of them were Daredevil appearances.

He was a Maggia type guy. Then Roger McKenzie and Frank Miller brought him back (and named him Melvin Potter, fwiw) and established that he's actually mentally ill. Then he reformed and went clean for awhile. He occasionally was forced to go back to villainy (particularly when his wife was captured).

During Ed Brubaker's run (which is probably what Muze is thinking of), Mr. Fear used his chemicals to make him go crazy again. He might still be in a sort of psychological break, depending on when the Annual backup story written by McKenzie takes place.

I didn't say he was an Iron Man villain over being a DD villain. I just said that he was an early Iron Man villain, that's all. I regard Gladiator primarily as a DD rogue.

So I was thinking about the potential villain and had the thought, with the film presumably centered on rescuing Janet from the Microverse, why not have someone else equally interested in a rescue mission show up as the antagonist? Enter Augustine Cross. While Darren Cross was never mentioned as having any kids in the original film, maybe they can pass him off as an illegitimate child, nonetheless detirmined to find his father, with the help of his uncle Crossfire. (Casting Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Coby Bell)

I'd rather see Elias Starr than Augustine Cross; personally.

so is the movie being written yet?
If the villain doesn't shrink, I guess we'll have to see what his or her powers are.

I hope it's not about a shrink vs. grow battle. I hope that other types of villains can come into play. also have an international setting.

I would hope for more of a big crossover with Black Panther?
Klaw feels unfinished yet. Hydra and Zemo is in the background left in prison?
Together with Justin Hammer?
Armin Zola is somewhere there...
Also with Ghost(who hired the villian???) the relation with ironman, spiderman , thor, dr strange and the hulk Falcon, War machine, make many posibilities especially for a magic themed adventure taking place in diffrent regions of the world.
Plus Lang created a prison for supervillians...
Also could see Antman and Wasp be in more cross over movies if the Leader, Hulk, Red Hulk, area 51 , world war hulk , hydra come more into the game...
There is much potential...
Hope for more villians in sequel and triquel, its a little bit lame that we have to many solo hero movies with to much mono-vilian background... 2-3 villians or more would be cool.

Antmans and Wasp would be interesting to set up against Taskmaster, Dormammu, Loki,Mandarin(the real deal), Guardians of the Galaxy, Adam Warlock, Hulk, Symbiotes, Bionic-creatures(slime ; sludge), Sonic monster Klaw, Fing Fang Foom, Modok, Dr Doom(if crossover with fanstatis four), radioactive man.

A mix of villians workimg together would be nice also of super heroes against them.

During the mansion scene I thought they were setting up Grim Reaper. That might be cool but tricky because of that how family lineage thing with vision etc

When I first saw the first mid credits sequence I actually thought it was a hint the next villain would be Swarm. That would still be an epic idea!

Have they met in the comics at all? If not, I think this would still be perfectly fitting. It could offer great visuals to go with a faithful re-invention of a classic character that seems to show up once or twice in random titles over the years into something quite memorable and significant.
