If Wonder Woman really is a good film (I'm not even asking for amazing), then it gives me optimism that DC will be able to win me back if they only ditch Snyder.

Glad to see the positivity around WW.

But yea I can't wait to see the Snyder fanatics reaction if WW gets huge critical acclaim and makes mega money.

I don't think I've seen it on this site, but on other places I've seen people claiming Wonder Woman is getting mandatory positive reactions due to the SJW/feminist agenda. Critics still hate DC, you see.

That depends, does the etymology of the word "amazing" come from "amazon"? In which case Wonder Woman absolutely needs to be amazing.

Tom Hardy just signed on to do Sony's Venom spin off. I am going to assume the pay check was just too good to pass up.

There's a kernel of truth to it. People want Wonder Woman to be good. It's the first modern comic book movie with a female lead, and it's the first-ever Hollywood blockbuster with a budget exceeding 100 million to be directed by one woman. So it's a feminist milestone in two different ways, two different ways which are meaningful. You can add a third if you wish to include Jenkins' filmography, and a fourth if the movie is actually feminist.

I think that buys the movie some goodwill, and I can see it shifting the tomatoemeter by say 5-10 points, but it won't be an overwhelming shift. If an average WB/DC movie gets 35% on the tomatometer, this won't get 85% just from feminist goodwill.

I say all that as a very pro-feminist male.

Am I the only one who finds the match-up between him and tom holland going to be hysterical?

I'm a fan of Hardy, but not of this news. If Venom is a big hit there is an awfully good chance Sony takes Spidey out of the MCU after the five film deal is up and plops him into the Avi-Verse.

If Sony do take Spidey out of the MCU after all this I don't think I'll be watching the films any more.

"People" (who haven't even seen the movie, I might add), love to speak out of ignorance if it supports their world/political view.

People should watch the frelling movie and THEN make up their frelling minds (alleged minds). If you think the movie sucks and the critics don't pan it, then go ahead with the theories and opinions (but maybe take the time to figure out that it isn't the first time someone has disliked a movie the critics like and it was probably starring and directed by a white guy).

I find people who say stuff like that really annoying. I want WW to be good because I like good movies and, yes, I DO want to see more movies like this starring and directed by women. It's about time.

So are they doing the Flash Thompson Venom where he's a military operative? If so... that could be awesome.

Just went from no interest to HYPE over this news. Big fan of Hardy, I am very excited. It literally came out of nowhere!

Nope, Tom Hardy is Eddie Brock.

I'll give anything a chance but the director hasn't done anything good since Zombieland

If the movie happens cool, but I'm not anticipating it or anything

I'd sooner go in for dental surgery than see a Tom Rothman/Avi Arad Venom movie. It would be hard to come up with a film concept I find less appealing.

I don't subscribe to "positive Twitter buzz" as anything meaningful until there are actual reviews when the embargo lifts. Call me skeptical but when ever I hear "positive twitter reaction" with a late embargo lifting that usually equals poor reviews.

Hopefully if the film reviews well, we'll get the embargo lifted earlier from WB.

I guess I'm one of those then. Better than being closed minded I guess. I'm a happier comic fan though for enjoying both the DCEU and MCU though. And No my standards aren't low just different than some.
