Yes, because Nolan can just block every window on Wall Street to shoot a scene outside.

And frankly, even before we "knew", pretty much everyone knew "Miranda" was quite possibly Talia.

I honestly think, even if you didn't know, the Talia twist shouldn't really catch you off guard if you're a halfway intelligent person and thinking about the film as you watch it.

The second the film has a character say "Ra's Al Ghul's daughter" during the flashback, any savvy audience member could realize "Hmm, we've only been introduced to two female characters, and one of them is Catwoman, so either Ra's Al Ghul's daughter is Catwoman, or its Miranda and she's going to betray Bruce".

People get caught off guard because they aren't paying attention and thinking about the film half the time. And getting caught off guard that there's a twist when there's really nothing to suggest there will be a twist throughout most of the film isn't all that big a deal. Anyone can throw a twist into a film. It's not like Bruce was searching for a traitor, or some betrayer inside Wayne Enterprises, or that there was a reference to a shadowy Al Ghul working inside Gotham, etc. There was no reason to believe there WOULD be this twist...unless you understand screenwriting conventions, of course people were caught off guard.
I'll just throw out that they never said "Ra's Al Ghul's daughter," but merely his child. Granted, most hardcore fans would probably put 2 and 2 together, but who knows. All I know is there were audible gaps all three times I saw it and none of my non-fan friends saw it coming. So it worked to some degree.

Marion walking down the stairs was filmed in Pittsburgh

the stabbing happens inside the building and they filmed it inside the building because people saw it in 2011 and talked about it.

My original quoted post was to dark b, you keep on telling people to read your posts but we've read it. You didnt watch the videos and didnt spoil yourself. You did a lot more to avoid spoilers than most of the people on this board. At this point your arguing nothing. You think Nolan should have made a set, we've told you reasons why he may not have.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, But Against Whom? Major Spoilers
''A good source close to the production backs up previous speculation and rumors about the characters and plot of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.''
http://badassdigest.com/2011/03/02/t...ajor-spoilers/

where is the spoiler in the title? anyone who read spoilers and clicked made a choice. i know that my english is not good but it i think my posts are clear.
we are not talking about forums spoiler articles, set videos, set pics ,....
we are talking that sites and general movies sites spoiled that she is Talia in the titles from articles. some sites that have nothing to do with movies and superhero movies posted the pic from Marion walking into the tumbler.

Yep, no problems there.

Just saying that at least Nolan didn't film that scene outside the building for everyone to see, cause that would INSTANTLY confirm Talia's role.

This is the reason why I find the first half of the movie tons more interesting. The second half was spoiled to death by spy photos and videos.

There are two different issues being discussed here, and they should be addressed separately.

Firstly, yes, trailers often show a lot more of a movie than is preferable, but that's nothing new. It happens with almost every movie and is the reason why I rarely watch trailers anymore.

The second is that spy pictures and videos spoiled the movie. Well, obviously they did. People watched the video because they couldn't resist temptation, but it's like eating a whole chocolate cake in one sitting - it seems like a good idea at the time, but you feel terrible afterwards.

The fault doesn't lie with Nolan filming outside, it lies with the person who filmed the video or took the photos and the fans who demand such material.

That's possible. But the fact remains that he didn't and that prevented potentially more spoiler confirmations , so it wasn't all that bad.

Agreed. And it's especially difficult now that Twitter is widely used and available on phones, so an image is easily public in a matter of seconds and the production crew won't be able to stop it. Still, I don't think that should force any director to sacrifice production time just to keep a spoiler (major or not) from leaking.

In a few years time I'd rewatch the movie and still enjoy the movie no matter.

Yeah, I can't blame Nolan. I love that he shoots on location in places like New York and Pittsburgh. I just can't resist the temptation of spy photos to see what kind of story and set pieces we were gonna get. However, I totally stayed away from Inception filming details and that movie was a near complete surprise to me. That's why I'm looking forward to Nolan's next film...I can resist anything not Batman.

Yes but it is still a very odd choice by Nolan to just film it for all to see in the first place. It may have been easier and there may have been many other set photos and videos or clues in the film itself but none of that is confirmed until that point in the film. And the set photo pretty much revealed all.

The video of Talia stabbing Batman getting out is not Nolan's problem as he probably thought no one could film it as it was inside so that is fair enough. Talia walking to the tumbler however well he knew that people were filming. Even if he didn't why take the risk? Following Nolan's last few films pretty closely it really surprises me he filmed such a scene out in the open for a director who takes it the extra mile to make sure nothing is revealed or spoiled. It is all good tking those extra precautions but it is pretty redundant when you film your main reveal in the open and then news sites just post about it.

And to the poster about Nolan losing his cool at the press guy it was definitely over reveal - http://www.hitfix.com/news/dark-knig...crets-revealed

I know the twist isn't that important with the whole ending and whatsoever but it does reveal the true villain behind everything.

The situation: she's just asked a question that references a key reveal near the end of the film, and...Christopher Nolan is annoyed.

^Well, maybe the 'key reveal' near the end of the film was (as you say) Miranda/Talia OR Bruce is alive and well, or John is Robin and inherits the cowl?

I knew nothing about these Talia spoilers and it didn't matter. It was obvious from the point I saw that Marion Cotillard was in this movie. She could only possibly be playing two characters, Selina Kyle and Talia Al Ghul, and the other was already taken. Then in the movie itself, she's playing a billionaire philanthropist and the villains just happen to be the League of Shadows while there is a mysterious citizen in Gotham who holds the detonator to the bomb? Yeah right.

I get why it would be a surprise to people who know nothing about Batman, but anyone who is a fan of Batman would have been able to see it a mile away even without spoilers.

My apologies for going off topic, but I'd just like to say that it's only during the first minute or so of eating that chocolate cake, perhaps the first few moments while savoring the juicy morsels, only then do we actually feel remorse...

after that it's like...

"Hey, I'm already at the party"

and by the time you've finished that darn cake, and washed it down with some single malt scotch, you'll hardly feel an iota of remorse...

(the voice of experience)

The twist was only so-so, also Nolan was lying to us to make it less obvious.

Her being revealed as Talia was just one part of the twist, though... I knew at least 3 parts going into the film. It was an enjoyable scene with everyone involved. I wasn't sure when her name would be said or by who. Cotillard tried lying over the past year but I never believed her, and I think it was more aimed at the media and the GA if anything.

The trailers didn't really ruin the movie for me.

Of course, I didn't watch them repeatedly and discuss them to death.
