I actually think an interesting concept for a GoW game is if they went in a completely different direction and let Shadow of the Colossus inspire them. If they werent in development hell, Sony could have arranged a collaboration between Studio Japan and Santa Monica to create a SoTC-like game set in the GoW universe. Playing as either Kratos or even a new character, the premise revolves around fighting a series of lost Titans which have recently been reawakened. Actually that could be a cool setup for a reboot with the Gods helping Kratos along the way to defeat them as the Rise of the Titans threatens the power that the Gods have. A twist could be that Ares is the one that revived the Titans in a plot to overtake Olympus for himself and the end battle could be you defeating a Titan sized Ares and becoming the God of War. I recently played SoTC for the first time a few months ago and thought those boss battles could realy work in GoW and building an entire game around that could be neat

I'd prefer that.
The direction they're taking isn't looking really fun, just more of the same with different enemies in appearance, especially since they're also focusing on multiplayer.

That sounds infinitely better than what they did.

That sounds so awesome you should write a email to Santa Monica Studios and propose this idea i mean that is a brilliant way for GOW series to head into

I just finished playing the GoW Origins Collection. Man GoS has one of the best stories in a GoW game and one of the best characterization of Kratos. Dare I say he was actually rootable here? It was refreshing to see him motivated by something that wasnt merely rage and cant believe he cared about someone other than himself. The introduction of Deimos helped humanize him a bit and I get why he hates the gods

Graphics for both games are pretty decent. Surprise to see that the cutscenes look fantastic and much better than the FMVs from GoW 1 and 2, which is a shock considering the PSP was on a smaller screen with lower resolution. ReadyatDawn did great here porting these games over

One thing I hated was the checkpoints. Why would they have them right before an unskippable cutscene? Some of them werent right at the big fight but made you cross an obstacle to get to them. I also hated not having a chest for health/magic restore before a big battle. At least they slowly increase your health if you keep dying but on hard the AI can be incredibly cheap.

Now that Ive played them all, Id rank them:

GoW 1
GoW 2
GoW 3
GoW GoS
Gow CoO

God of War 2 and Ghost of Sparta are my favorites, GoS has the best story, but the weakest antagonist, while all the other comes more or less had a clear antagonist, while CoO's was a mystery villain, but still, i felt GoS' weak point was the antagonist.

God of War 3 is still overrated, god did they turn Kratos into a rambling idiot and tried to humanize him with that little girl. /rant rant

I thought the final battle in GoS was epic. One of my favorites. I loved how the two brothers went into battle together

Kinda OT, but Vin Diesel just posted this image of his Hannibal project on Facebook. Tell me he does NOT look exactly like Kratos in that image:

After seeing it, I messaged him on there about looking into the GOW live-action adaptation if he's interested! I've also Tweeted David Jaffe and Todd Pappy about this idea. Let's see if this goes anywhere...

P.S. I didn't photoshop that or anything. That's the exact image Vin posted.

I really don't want him doing the character.

Because when I'm watching Vin Diesel, I'm always watching just Vin Diesel. I feel it's basically the same character. I know he has his fan base, but I just don't like his acting.

A long time ago, I think David Jaffe suggested Djimon Hounsou to play Kratos. I totally agree with him.

I know, but Hounsou hasn't really done any new films lately that I know of. The last thing I saw him in was Eragon and Blood Diamond. Then he kinda just fell off the radar.

UPDATE: MAJOR NEWS! After Sony Santa Monica Studio's official Twitter feed replied back to me about this idea and me elaborating on the pic, I got another reply back saying this:

Quote:
@MOVIELORD101 If he's as Fast and Furious as Kratos, then he stands a chance

Looks like they're interested!

Egh, it's not like Kratos is a deep character. I could see Vin pulling it off.

Btw, just picked up the God of War Saga collection today! The voucher for the free month of PS Plus says the GOW Ascension beta will start on November 13 and to save the code on the back for when it starts (which I'll be doing anyway).
