You could if the villains were white or a predominately white group. No one really gives a **** if a film shows white people acting like a bunch of primitive savage cultists. Perhaps a group that worships a norse or Celtic god or a cult that deals in necromancy and some obscure god of death. There are all sorts of obscure gods and mythological beings of death, destruction, and chaos and anyone can worship them.

They could even go back to JudeoChristian mythology. Judaism has a number of malevolent demonic beings: Samael, Asmodai, Belial etc.

I'm hoping Ready Player One is more in the vein of his earlier blockbusters.
I really like War of the Worlds, it's probably one of the most unrelentingly bleak and darkest PG-13 blockbusters ever made. The ending is anti-climactic, but the first two acts are up there with the Spielberg greats. Only SPR showcases Spielberg's action chops better.

In terms of quality War of the Worlds is pretty similar to Jurassic Park for me. Both very good films with timeless visuals, and a mediocre screenplay elevated by Spielberg's amazing direction (which incidentally, both were written by David Koepp).

Which begs the question, why is Koepp writing Indy 5? Dude is such a bleh screenwriter.

War of the Worlds is ruined by those two insufferable kids. I really want to like that film and I've repeatedly tried to, but I can't stand those two characters. And Cruise really isn't good as the incompetent clueless father bumbling his way through an alien invasion.

Cruise does a good job as a sort of deadbeat dad barely keeping his kids alive; the son is great as an embittered, angsty teen; and Dakota takes the cake as a spoiled brat. People whine and complain all the time about movies not having realistic characters despite the context of the movie. But here we get exactly that, your average broken down family trying to survive during an alien invasion.

Justin Chatwin is a crap actor but I do like Dakota Fanning in this. I mean, how do you expect a 10 year old to act during an alien invasion?

Also, bless up to the amazing sound design in WOTW. I always use my Blu-Ray copy to test my surround sound system.

She acted realistically, but I dont watch alien invasion films to see how a 10 year old would act during an alien invasion.

Moderation in all things. Realism isn't a good thing when it's a detriment to the film.

That is one thing I can agree with. If they ever release a UHD of the film the Dolby Atmos audio is going to be a force of nature.

The villains should be Jonestown or Heaven's Gate type group. Indy has to kill them before they kill themselves.

It’s crazy to think an Indiana Jones film was made, came out a long time ago and I don’t own it.

I think a large part of its sales could be to completionist collectors.

I own it as well. To complete the collection, and because I don’t outright hate it. I don’t love it either but I can throw it on once in a blue to watch. Usually just as background noise but can enjoy some parts of it.

Anyway I am pretty excited for this new film.

If this movie turns out as good as Temple of Doom which is the weakest of the original 3 then I'd be happy since that movie was still decent and entertaining than Crystal Skull.

When you think really hard about it, none of the Indy movies are that great. Raiders is a stunt show but low on story and character. Temple is a plotless roller coaster ride. Crusade is the best as it has proper characterisation and variance of tone. And the last movie seems like a cast reunion more than anything else.

I would strongly disagree with that. For me Raiders and Crusade are great movies.
