No it didn't. Keaton had presence. That's really all one needs to play Batman. The rest is up to how the director makes him look

I’m 5’11. I therefore completely endorse Gyllenhall for the role, based on this entirely relevant metric alone.

Clooney survived because he was the good looking white man with connections in the business. If he wasn't blessed with that stuff, he would have never recovered.

I really like Hamm for the role but i feel he wouldn't do the fitness regime and then look 'off' to me - i kind of wish they went the route with Josh Brolin instead of Batfleck - he would be a great older, rugged Bruce. Actually, he could have been a great Bruce had Bale not stepped up. Batfleck in JL was just phoning it in for the majority - makes me wonder how he did in the snyder shot scenes.

Anyways, my nod for the next bruce... i'd love a return to the Keaton era with Luke Evans
The Bond producers can't afford to cast an actor in their 40's anymore. They are continuously negotiating distribution with other studios because MGM can't get their act together. After Bond 25, they'll likely have to go through the process again which will delay the production of Bond 26. Not to mention, these days a Bond film comes out every 3-4 years. Turner will be too old.

Think about this wild fact. Daniel Craig was secured as Bond in 2005. When his last film is released in 2019, he'll be the longest serving Bond with only 5 films to show for it.

Oh please. Hollywood 40 could be like... regular people 28, if you find someone who really takes care of themselves. I mean, Christ, look at this newly minted 40 year old...

If history is anything to go by and you hire a 40 year old to play Bond, he won't make many films. Bond films aren't made every 2 years anymore. That stopped halfway through Brosnan's tenure.

Keaton had presence as Batman. But as Bruce, he looked very undersized.

my point was 5'11 is a good height for an actor playing Batman or any of those 6 foot superheroes. Probably the minimum height you'd like to see unless a smaller actor wears lifts. Downey Jr is 5'8 playing a 6'2 Tony Stark, which works alright though. Now obviously a 5'7 actor can't pull off Superman.

so the film won't be released until 2020 at the earliest right? or would they aim for a Fall 2019?

so we might have up to 6 months before we get a decision made (if its a 2020 release)

And it just added to the overall misdirection of the character.

Yeah it did.

Keaton's Bruce Wayne wasn't really like his comic counter-part but it worked in the essence that he would not be someone you'd ever suspect as Batman.

In reality a large strapping man with unlimited wealth and connections would be an obvious candidate for some costumed superhero with crazy gadgets.

Exactly.

I think Burton/Keaton really nailed that Idea.

I liked that angle. It was sort of a play on the idea that Chris Reeve created for Clark Kent; the introverted, socially awkward recluse who's been thrown into spotlight.

It made sense to Keaton's BW, since he was the complete opposite to his comic book counterpart in a lot of ways.

Reeve was slapstick, like the old silent comedy movie stars. Clark's clumsy performance was obviously deliberate.

Whereas Keaton's performance derived from the fact that Bruce spent more time as a hermit in the cave, only ever interacting with Alfred; it resulted in him not knowing how to act around strangers, which made him clumsly and awkward when attempting the acts of the social norm.

What I'm curious about is...we're talking about re-casting one of the lead roles in this cinematic universe. Who has the ultimate say in that, given that Bruce probably wouldn't just appear in Batman films? Would it be the studio in the end or Matt Reeves?

Reeves, I think. It's ultimately his movie. It's just WB who has a say in ****ing up the tone and vision of the director once the movie has been shot

hahaha! I think that in this case. That came from being an only child who was born rich.

The only times Bruce/Keaton kinda didn't really know how to act with people was when he was around women he liked. You really see this in His Scenes with Vicki Vale and Selina Kyle.
Other than these 2, He was fine around people.
Even, Kilmer adopted this behavior in his performance. He didn't do it as well but it still worked.

Yeah, now that you mention it... it was only women he went awkward around
