I always assumed Ayer's comment was a poor attempt at a joke anyway.

I'd give it to Ayer if he didn't make a **** movie.

I am not a fan of poor sportsmanship, but I do think it is more acceptable if you are able to back up your bravado. If the Seattle Seahawks talk trash about the San Francisco 49ers they come off as jerks. If the San Francisco 49ers talk trash about the Seattle Seahawks they come off as jerks AND complete morons. That's the difference. I don't necessarily expect everyone to be nice all the time, but I do ask that they be competent.

I would still much rather both sides act more gracious though.

Agreed. I will say that I hold guys like Fiege and Snyder, the guys behind the camera, more accountable than actors much in the same way I'd hold the coaches more accountable than the players.

There is a hierarchy for a reason. Have to know when to interfere, and know when you made the right choices in terms of hiring people. If you hire a director known for his casting, you let them cast. Same for anything else.

Logan an R-rated movie that's being described as dark, gritty, and serious. Things critics are supposed to hate in superhero movies.

Yeah. Kinda kills that meme stone dead, doesn't it? Once you take away that complaint about BvS's review scores, what are you left with?

Don't want to jinx it but we hear all these rumors and news about WW, JL, the Bat solo, and Flash behind the scenes troubles.

Meanwhile Aquaman is going along just fine.

Maybe they need to hand the keys to Wan and let him drive for a while.

The bloggers tried the "Wan is leaving Aquaman" thing. Wan responded by posting a picture of himself standing in front of an Aquaman mural. Maybe that has something to do with it. That, and the fact that there's quite possibly the perception that no one cares about AQUAMAN, and so it's not "newsworthy". Notice that most of the WW rumors died down once scoopers latched onto the Affleck/THE BATMAN thing.

Comparing to Marvel is the problem.

At this point Marvel had just made Iron Man 2. Let's put that in perspective. They had Iron man, Hulk, and then Iron Man 2. Regardless of how you felt about the films. That's not a huge universe.

Now getting each hero a solo film before JL?

Superman and Batman have had plenty of films. The GA knows these guys. The JL cartoons never needed to introduce solo series for most of the roster.

Plenty of ensemble movies don't have prefilms.

Avengers essentially reintroduces the bulk of the cast.

What Marvel did with their world building was build their studio. They had to build the foundation so they could expand.

The WB's infrastructure is already built.

Now again I think the DCEU on the internet has been held up to an impossible standard.

The Batman production is being treated like it's in development hell. Um plenty of films vet directors. Marvel has certainly done it. Thor has had three different directors. Captain America got new directors. Hulk hasn't seen a new film. Iron man got a new one for the 3rd.

With the Batman, too many sites kept using misleading titles. They took rumor as fact. They took interest as confirmation.

It's just so frustrating to see unfair reactions.
I'm reposting this.

Perhaps that tone is more tolerable with a character like Wolverine.

Goes back to the plot structure more than anything. Much greater likelihood that Logan will have a concise plot with concise themes with plenty of breathing time (slower moments) between intense scenes given that was Mangold's trademark having done The Wolverine.

DC could technically start a Movie Universe & not need origin movies while MARVEL had to work from the ground up & work around not having all of their characters at that. The comparisons are fair because MARVEL worked hard for & earned the audience trust. While all WB had to do was simply adapt the DC heroes as the audience knows & loves them they had the advantage over MARVEL because the audience knows their characters. WB had it made & they could not even do a DC universe right I can't wait for the Aquaman in trouble rumors to start up
DC had all CBM media pretty much on lockdown 20 years ago. Think about what had already come out from 1960s through 1997. There had been Superman films and TV shows, Batman films and TV shows, Wonder Woman on television, and all the cartoons....The Superfriends from the 70s and 80s, B:TAS, S:TAS, the list goes on.

How Marvel turned this thing around into an absolute rout at this point is squarely in the hands of the WB....

I don't think most people complained about the darker, grittier stuff with regard to Batman.

Most of the tonal complaints with BVS involved Superman, not Batman.
