Many iterations of Ma and Pa Kent provide good role models for Clark. They should inspire him to be a better hero, not tell him to give up or hide his powers. Maybe if Ma Kent told Clark to stop moping about and use his powers for good, but instead she gives him a confusing non-answer and later Pa Kent tells him an anecdote about how acting heroically only made things worse. I'm not entirely sure what Snyder's take on the Kents is, but it's not a very good one either way.

Part Kent gave him an anecdote about the unintended consequences of your actions as well as how he learned to live with them. It was something Clark needed to hear at the time because he was struggling with the unintended consequences of his actions, or so he believed.

Nah, its more of a realistic take on how they are trying to relay to him that his decisions have consequences regardless of what hes trying to achieve. Stopping a flood is a perfect example, you cannot stop a natural disaster like that, you can only redirect the flow. If you dont think about the consequences your actions may cause, you may end up hurting someone else. Pa Kent clearly didn't realize this when he redirected the flood which resulted in the Lang farm being flooded.

I thought this was a nice write-up about the Kents...

That's a great write-up and wonderfully articulates my problem with the Kents in Snyder's films.
