I know, that's the worst part. They really could have been something really special. It's such a shame.
They are still my favorite comic book movies so far though

There will never be a better spiderman/Peter than this guy, I would be delightfully surprised if the reboot does a better job than what Andrew did.

When you type in Andrew Garfield and it auto corrects to Peter Parker

The next guy's got a lot to live up to, that's for sure.

He was such a great Peter Parker.

If not anything else, "potential" is definitely something I believe a lot of people can agree on. Even after not liking TASM2, I still admit that TASM1 made me believe in the possibility of a good series.

The right seeds were planted, but the plants came out crooked.

This may be the only Spider-man film to handle the death of Gwen Stacy. Maybe not to everyone's satisfaction , but it does have that distinction for the time being.

Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone deserved a better film. Although they have several issues I still wanted to see ASM 3. This series was much more salvageable than Raimi's trilogy.

Between the original Raimi series and the now MCU series, The ASM movies will become the forgotten middle-child.

I understand you like him. I do too. But saying there will never be a better spiderman is really a sad thing to think. the next one will be different. He may not be as good. He may be as likeable. Who knows? It's possible to love Garfield's portrayal, and later down the road, to love the next guy's portrayal too, without betraying your feelings over Garfield's performance.

I'm sure Marvel, despite what some on here believe, are going to have a huge hand in casting the next Spider-Man, I trust their judgment on casting leads. And I'm not some blind fan of everything Marvel does but their lead casting has been fantastic.

If they have one strength, it's choosing great leads. Evans, Downey Jr, Hemsworth...

I'm not worried either.

Highly disagree. Although SM3 was a mess, it didn't shove the franchise in a corner. The Raimi films were part of a series but also very "self-contained." There was no reason why they couldn't make a Spider-Man 4 and just move on with the franchise. It also had a very strong ground with the first two SM movies.

With the Webb films, it started off very poor with TASM1 and then TASM2 was just another big mess and did not justify the existence of a reboot. Sony did write themselves into a corner because there was no way to avoid certain plot elements involving Oscorp and the Sinister Six. The whole movie is one giant dead end (despite having a ton of unresolved plot threads).

Andrew and Emma were placed in the SM franchise at the wrong time. Though they ended up falling in love with each other because of these movies so I guess it wasn't totally for nothing.

Man o Man... if we could have gotten Garfield's Peter and Emma's Gwen in the Raimi films... that tone would have just been too perfect. And then saving Mj for the tonality of the Webb franchise

The only thing that bums me out is that the story didn't get to play out to it's end. Audiences are sticklers for that, go to any social media site, and people already are against the idea of another reboot for this very reason (they'll get over it eventually lol).

It would've been nice to have a 3rd one just to have two separate trilogies before the big Marvel reboot. But that's just because I'm a little maniac with order.

The problem is, which story are we talking about? Peter getting over Gwen was a question at one point, but he seemed to be handling her loss pretty well by returning as Spidey. Then there's Harry wanting revenge from Peter for no valid reason, when he already took away his "hope." It would not have been worth it to damage the image of the S6 just to go forward with that sorry storyline.

Sony didn't even properly end any of the subplots. Think about it: for example, was Peter satisfied with the answer he got about his parents? It's hard to tell because many of us were speculating whether or not we would have to deal with that storyline yet again in TASM3. The same thing can be said for Ben's killer in TASM1.

It would be nice if maybe Webb or someone just did an interview explaining some of the unresolved plots. Perhaps if Peter Parker was ever going to find his Uncle Ben's killer or if we were ever going to see Norman turn into the Goblin. Otherwise seeing Sony make another film just to explain these things is pointless.

The only thing I'll miss is Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy.

I was hugely disappointed when the Raimi series ended (I still love those movies dearly)... but the end of the Amazing franchise is no big loss to me.

Spider-Man has brighter days ahead of him.
